Cainhurst Castle question:
Okay, so I beat the boss, put on the crown of illusion and then swore allegiance to the queen. What did I agree to? Where should I go next?

Am I getting near the end now?

At Amgydala as well as at Martyr Logarius and the Cathedral Ward katana Hunter but haven't beaten any yet. Just beat The One Reborn. Haven't explored the Nightmare of Mensis yet.

I don't want it to end :(

So where am I going after beating H
emwick
L
ane
? Pretty self contained little area. However, I'm kinda stuck after that.

Have you killed
Vicar Amelia? If so, head back to the central area just down from her entrance with all the big guys and take the right exit until you find some horrible squid-headed thing.

There's a few more story bosses left as yet.

I love the game to pieces, but I am not a fan of the Chalice Dungeons at all. I would rather have more varied actual game world with amazing level design.

I get that they are samey and not too varied...yet I am addicted to them now. Through the first 2 bosses in my first defiled chalice. Really not looking forward to a buffed up version of
abhorrent beast
and half health though...

On another note, stuck at the inlaws and no PS4 for the weekend so no bloodborne...

2..gif

So turning off your PS4 looses your blood if you died? So far this is the twice time I died, turned off Ps4 came back to play and my souls were all gone. RIP 40k blood. Unless I'm missing something, could someone clear this up for me?

Thing is we've known about this for atleast a week. There is no confirming it happens, whether the 12 hour things causes it I can't say.

That looks like the regular problems with the AI, that it is too deterministic, often based on positioning. If you stay in the right range at the right times, bosses will do the same moves over and over. I witnessed this behavior in far less than 12 hour play sessions.

The Cane/Whip is a good way to demonstrate this. Many bosses and enemies have a "dead zone" at the edge of the whip's range, where they are too close to "charge" you but too far to do their basic attack. So you can use the range and the slight stun from strong attacks to just kite back and abuse.

Ah fuck. F
orbidden
W
oods
. Heard nothing, but horror stories. Also I'm mad I accidentally took
Ariella's
blood before the
Nun's
. Now the game won't let me take the
Nun's
blood. Did I miss my chance?

Yeah. I agree. I also think staggering affects it too. In the case of
Ebritas
, I staggered her during her animation to do the
static shield thing
, and she then tried to recast after she got out of it, which gave me enough time to stagger again, by that point she was dead.

Just arrived at the
Vicar Amelia
boss fight and I just can't beat her although I haven't had any problems until now. I am using the Cane+3 and I can get her down to 50% without problems but then she starts to heal and I can do nothing to stop her. I literally hit her during her complete healing process and she always gets out with more health than before anyway. Am I just not doing enough damage at this point or am I missing something completely?

Did you kill
Darkbeast
before you left the first time?

That's really weird.
She definitely didn't leave for me, and I definitely spoke to her when I first went, because I was really confused that she wouldn't say much. I left shortly after because the area was clearly harder than I was levelled for.

Nope, what happened was this:

I talked to her, withheld information on where to go because I didn't know what to do and was going to look it up later, then I went upstairs from here and died to done of those dumb enemies with the bags (lol), then when I went back downstairs, she was gone.. Maybe it was due to me withholding information. She said
maybe one of her friends in the cathedral ward would know where to go.
*shrug*

I'm sure there's a more efficient way to do it but the only time I ever attacked her was when she started to heal (full charge attacks) and after dodging her jump attack. I stayed away otherwise. It took my a while but it seemed like those were the two safest moments to go in.

I stumbled into a really random enemy in the chalice dungeon earlier. He wasn't a boss or anything but he had some unusual tactics. He didn't seem designed for the area either and as soon as he appeared, he was gone again.

Goddamn, that's hilarious and scary all at once.

just totally blows. Between the poison swamp and the singing things, it takes the award for hands down the worst zone so far. Why From thinks that movement slowing poison swamps that are mandatory to traverse are somehow fun and has to put them in every fucking game I do not know.....
I don't agree, I love this place. The poison swamp is not really mandatory to traverse except for one short burst, and the Lovecraftian feel of the place is just amazingly well done.

I'm glad I sold high on Shadow of Mordor when I did; going back to its shallow button masher combat, dumb story, and drab, visually uninspired world would have been next to impossible after Bloodborne.
Hahahah you and me both.

Ah, that must be it. She must leave if you withhold. I never even got a dialogue choice with her because I wasn't wearing church gear. She was just scared and wouldn't talk.

were you able to stop her healing though or did you just do more damage than she could heal?

you can stop her healing by throwing numbing mists at her. a few can be found near the area where you pick up the wooden shield. climb up the ladder. you only get like 3 so use sparingly and hope you beat her while you have the items. fire paper also helps your damage against her.

Has anyone had any really long runs against a boss? I played Vicar Amelia for almost 4 hours yesterday and couldn't beat her.... of course that included some farming in between here and there but I was having a hell of a time. Went to bed, woke up this morning, turned on my PS4 and beat her on the first try. Funny how taking a little time off can do that.

Yeah, that's the only thing I can think of. Oh well, I'll know for next time. I feel like I'm missing a few other NPCs being in there, but I don't know where. I never did meet the guy
that supposedly kills the npcs in the chapel. I thought he was in the woods, but I never ran across him. Well, I saw one guy in a house and talked to him - he gave me the tonsil, but the dialogue never changed to asking where to send him.

I am finding this game way harder than DS1 or DS2.

Just made it past R
OM, returned to the Unseen Village, and after making the second lantern, I am getting clobbered by the three Hunters who are around the dysfunctional lantern.

At this point, I feel I am at a standstill in the game. No good place to go and explore. I could do C
ainhurts
, but I had my ass handed to me there as well.

Level 66 with 47 insights.

Any advice?

I don't think the healing stopped but it seemed like after getting two charge attacks in during the healing, there would be a moment where she's stunned for a little bit after the healing finished for a couple more attacks. I don't think the net damage was huge but I never had a sequence where she came out with more health. Again, I went ultra-conservative in that fight and it took me a while.

I found using
numbing mist
to be way more effective than trying to attack her during the
praying, this stopped her immediately from healing.

Edit: Beaten, I knew someone would get in before me :)

Note:
You can skip the hunters by taking the elevator. Go through the backdoor, loop around to your left, and activate that elevator. Use the lamppost near the top as your home base for the rest of the zone.

Could someone explain to be the bells that are supposed to bring help?

I used one a little while ago (at the cleric beast) but not one came. I waited like 10 minutes. Am I doing something wrong? I beat the boss by myself but wanted to try the coop.

I went back to the hunters garden after and lost my bell and my insight...

I clearly dont get it.

He was on the roof of the building where the second elevator(one which takes you to near the boss). I didn't realise he was a cannibal... He killed the old lady who gives you sedatives. :( Fortunately I killed him before he killed anyone else.

Had a good session today; killed T
he One Reborn
and M
icolash
! And I got my Cane to +10. With 32 Skill and the gems I used, my Attack is at 389.

Cannon? You can fire three bullets if you maximize it and it does tons of damage.
I was looking at that. Name alone suggests it's powerful. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have the starting hunting pistol and never use outside of gunning down perched enemies. I'm just looking for something that I can chip away at tough enemies and bosses with in a pinch.

You can't summon in areas where you already defeated the boss. And it costs 1 insight to ring the bell.

Edit- ring the small bell to be summoned to help others, this one doesn't cost anything to ring.

Saw Cleaver short form. Parries are key though

If you'd like a strategy:
Target fire thrower first. Parry dumbfuck samurai every time his stupid ass rushes you. Kill the fuck out of him second. When you're down to the last guy, this was my strategy. Slice once, he sidesteps, slice once, he sidesteps, continue until dead. He's going nowhere and no summoning bullshit final stretch

Thanks man. I just beat the boss.

Wow. I just won my second invasion (out of 16, ahaha) only because someone rated one of my notes moments before I was about to die.

This game.

Oh, I didn't even realize there was anything up on the roof there, lol.

Thanks for the tip. I've got only 6 of them so hopefully I can beat her with that...

Maybe I should try to do 2 charge attacks as well if the mists should run out... or maybe I should just try to upgrade my weapon a bit to do more damage.

Well R
om
is kicking my fucking ass. This is the first boss that has given me any real trouble. I saw that flamesprayer tactic and my bloodtinge isn't good enough to kill him fast enough. Guy is a real jerk. I'm sure I'll be able to kill him. The adds and AOE after the first teleport are brutal.

I had ran past the
Hunters just to scope the area, and I activated the elevator. Forgot all about that, thanks
.

Here's it happening to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErusInKSqzE

And this has never happened in a Souls game before. Bosses being 'baited' into doing the same move, over and over again, is an AI glitch regardless. They should be mixing it up.

It's different from this, it's outright AI not working right. It happened to me at Cainhurst and I made sure I ran as far away as possible, but no projectiles came. They just don't use any other moves.
