Do I do these chalice things you guys are talking about during the main game or after?

The chalice difficulties don't scale, so I'd do at least the first couple of them as soon as you can. The very first one can be done in the 20s-30s.

No but you can get a shortcut to the first shortcut that takes you straight to the lantern

No. Just the lamp near the house. Quickest way is to take the elevator down once and run to the gate, instead of going down two elevators.

Bah, that's really annoying. Almost certainly about to lose these 40,000 Echoes and I ain't running all the way back there.

Enemy behavior is depending on the amount of insight you have. The more insight, the harder.

This was definitely not based on insight. It's clearly part of the memory leak.

3 hunters in the Hypogean Gaol (I think) area and they destroy my ass every time. Haha. Any tricks to killing them?

Call their attebtion and run near the lamp, inside that "terrace" with a fence. Stay between the 2 trees there and keep spamming charge attack at them in the other side of said fence.

If you can't separate them, try to funnel them into a narrow hallway. Use your most upgraded weapon with good horizontal swipe attacks and pop beast pellets. 1-2 swipes followed by backsteps should all you to take them out.

So, I've got a gem which gives 19.8% physical atk up, but "ATK DOWN -6.7%". Does that mean everything other than physical attack goes down, so blood/arcane/fire/bolt? If so does that affect fire/bolt paper too?

Beyond getting rid of the initial clothing, just wear whatever looks cooler to you unless you're worried about poison

You have to find the back entrance into isoefka's clinic from the forbidden woods. There you should find an item named cainhurst summons. You might want to avoid aggroing iosefka herself at this point depending on what story lines you want to play out. You won't need to in order to get the item. After that, take the summons to an obelisk in hemway and a stage coach will appear to take you cainhurst.

I can't even get to the defiled dungeon. Depth 3 undead giant is wrecking me. Gets to a point where the only attack he does is one that surrounds his entire body and one shots me. Fun.

What frustrates me is how inconsistent it seems. His front swipe attack.. I can dodge it the same way every time yet it seems it's down to blind luck whether it hits me and almost 1 shots me or I successfully dodge.

Definitely the hardest boss so far, mainly due to the sadistic bullshit health limit.

Yeah, they go if you die a second time. If you're particulalrly attached to them, run back past the enemies to get them. Also *Spoiler*

Are you talking about that fire swipe thing? I just dodge back to dodge it. I only ever attacked him while he was spitting on the floor or after a failed bite attempt. I never took any other risks. You have to be really patient in that fight.
