His horizontal scythe attack is very easy to interrupt with a gunshot, followed up by a visceral attack. I just beat him twice and the 2nd time I just baited him to do that and did nothing but visceral attacks to kill him.
 
I think at this point I've committed to the saw cleaver and I've been raising VIT->STR->SKILL and occasionally endurance when I feel like changing things up. Am I going about it the right way or am I messing myself up?

I've been sticking with the Saw Spear myself & that's what I've been. They're similar enough to each other. Also, get Endurance up for some sweet multi hit combos.

So I just beat this guy

I dunno if he was bugged or anything, because I died twice learning his phases and then spent all of two vials to beat him the third time.

Phase 1: just dodge towrds him on the first two of his regular swings, get a couple swings in and dodge back out when he puts his hands behind his back for his charge attack

Phase 2: slowly back up keeping him at a bit of a distance, his first charge attack will miss and he'll ready a followup, stun him on the followup and visceral attack. you just need to keep the right distance. Rinse Repeat.

Was my fight just bugged? all the moon presence did was right claw swing, left claw swing, both claws swing all fight, then halfway through set me to 1hp and sit still for a few seconds
 
So is it best to not use the elemental gems on your weapons? I had one on mine for a pretty long time, but just removed it and noticed damage is actually higher without...

That last move is definitely what he did for me too. He did it twice and I got all my health back both times through regain and killed him right after the 2nd. And yeah, it seems like bosses are susceptible to getting stuck in attack patterns, and there's a known memory leak issue.
 
I thought the armor was kinda lackluster until I got the
Cainhurst
armor set. But I just now got the
Bone Ash
set which is goddamn cool as fuck.

I spent about 15 minutes playing Where's Waldo with my dropped blood echoes in
Moonlight Lake after beating Rom. Pretty sure they intentionally made that damn death marker tough to see just to mess with the audience. Well played, From Software.

I'd really like a confirmation on this supposed memory leak. My final boss (not MP) has so many moves that some players have never heard of.

the easiest way to do it is to set your camera really low aznd pan around, your blood echoes should be just a little bit brighter and higher than everything else.

Done a first run. not super into doing NG+, not sure whether to continue my arcane build dude or do a bloodtinge dude.
 
Thoroughly enjoyed the main game. Started ng+ and lost hours.

Chalice dungeons were a complete bust. An amplification of every rough edge and jank in the souls series. Horrible execution that leaves me scratching my head as to how resource went into all the unique enemies relegated to that mess instead of proper covenants and a coop system on par with ds2.

That's my 2nd biggest gripe. Coop. I don't understand why they had to put the burden on the host in the form of the insight tax and no soapstone-esque indication of available players.

i spent probably an hour looking for a bloodstain in
Forbidden Woods

it was partially hidden by the foliage. i'm still surprised i even managed to stumble across it, as big as that map was

probably harder than the Dark Souls 2 platinum, but much less time consuming thanks to save scumming for the ending trophies. I think I need a break from this for a while now
 
So I reached the BSB and I have 0 blood vials (thanks random wolves).

It's a bit stupid. So I have to farm vials, probably die to the boss and then farm again if I want a chance at beating this guy? This is really killing my motivation to play.

They need to make it so that you spawn at lanterns with 5 vials or something.

There are consequences if he saves the church lady. If you accept arrianna's blood you aren't able to accept church lady's blood. If you don't accept her blood she'll murder arrianna after Rom

You'll be fine. There's another weapon coming up that scales with STR/SKILL that you might like too. Good alt at the very least with good reach.

Just use some echoes to buy Vials.

Meh. Chalices are a fun option. I think they're pretty cool.
