GTA V PC Full Graphics Options Revealed

Actually I am really curious to see people dial in the exact settings present on the console versions. I hope DF does a good and thorough look to see which PC options line up exactly with those on console. Given the amount we have... it should be readily doable.

Then we could know the true power behind the plastic.

Very nice suite of settings. Hoping that the 780 can manage 1080p maxed out, and by the specs given, that's looking pretty likely.

I'd imagine it's mostly normal and a couple on high maybe. Interesting that the lowest is called normal and not low. They don't want to shit on the console equivalent settings by calling it low.

Yet another game with FXAA instead of SMAA. God damn it developers! If Sweetfx can include it on every game then it should not be an issue for game developers themselves.

Seriously, FXAA is blurry mess while SMAA just adds antialiasing nicely without blur or performance hit.

Guess it's ReShade+SweetFX from day one...

But it has MSAA and TXAA support?

FXAA is an excellent option for 4K though. The high resolution negates FXAA's baggage and the low requirements are good for a resolution that only requires a small amount of AA.

But what about the AO 'options'? Lot's of Nvidia goodies so I'm hoping HBAO+ support out the box (or subtly hoping Andy pops in to confirm).

well HBAO+ is not listed

then again the game do support TXAA but it's not listed on geforce game page so maybe Nvidia forgot to update that page :/

Yes, both of which cause a pretty big performance drop. Plus MSAA doesn't do well with alpha-transparency (as often used for things like bushes and grass).

At least SweetFX's SMAA implementation doesn't seem to be much heavier on the GPU than FXAA.

I'll have to check how TXAA performs with my GTX 970 SLI at 1440p. Usually it's the blurriest option though...

So, do you guys think my specs : 3970x (4.6ghz) and GTX 980 (1508,8000 over clock) with 32gb and the same SSD as in the preview will do 4k 60fps?

Frankly I would take 4k 30fps with every single setting maxed, I really do not want to get another 980 as I utterly hate SLI.

A single 980 wont do 4k 60fps, unless maybe you turn a lot of other settings down.

I don't really see the point of a game listing "DSR" as a feature anyway, the whole point of DSR (or downsampling in general) is that a game doesn't need to support it :p

If two 980s does a solid 60 FPS in 4K, I'd say it's reasonable to assume one 980 will do 30-40 FPS in 4K.

I think it rather means that having DSR support means rather that the UI doesn't appear extremely small for titles using it

So my 560ti 2gb vram is useless... 0_0
Well, not useless. It's above minimum specs. But I have a feeling that the team were treating 'minimum' fairly literally here. I think 1080p/30fps might be out of reach, but maybe 900p/30fps should be fine if you're ok with that.

Ugh, and yet no confirmation if we can use our own MP3's for the radio.
Yea, I'd really like to know this just for peace of mind.

Just thinking though, the specs seem pretty modest on the lower end, maybe i you turn reflection AA etc down it could be acheivable with just one 980?

It depends. Given what we know... the game seems relatively light. 4K 60fps at the highest settings with only 980 SLI is kinda surprising... so perhaps 4k 60fps with a good number of parameters turned down (IQ related parameters / maybe some higher shading options).

It could be bandwidth bound for all we know.

Very nice. Everything I've seen suggests that this game is not going to be another GTA IV. Here's hoping for a well optimized port. I'm betting on it.

Soft shadows options: softer, softest, AMD CHS, Nvidia PCSS

Fucking love that. This also means that this screenshot:

15_gtavpc_03272015.jpg

is confirmed to not be maximum settings, more or less. With PCSS the shadows from the tree with the tireswing would be an indistinguishable blur. Which is how it should be.

I actually love everything about that settings list. It's some serious Croteam level stuff. Good on Rockstar.

Sounding really, really good. All that remains is to see how it runs on hardware similar to mine and I'll actually buy it.

1080p and 60fps here I come.

Wonder if this game will support MFAA.
Pretty much any game using MSAA automatically supports it now.

But MSAA(and thus MFAA) will still be costly in a deferred rendered game like this. I'm gonna be looking into this myself, but I'm not getting my hopes up that it'll be an ideal solution.

I don't care about how high the high settings can go, but how low the lower ones can go. I won't be satisfied unless I can run 60fps on my laptop.

Um, which setting would be the best here? From a quality and performance standpoint?
Impossible to say from a quality standpoint since we can't actually compare it, but soft will the less performance heavy as it will most likely have the least filtering whilst CHS/PCSS will look the best (should be quite comparable in terms of looks, but will have to see how they are implemented).

Well Andy from Nvidia told us that we can expect something soon. I hope that his article will be on GeForce this week.

What makes me most excited is that you can change from kb+m to controller and back freely without have to change the settings each time, and I love to drive a lot so being able to switch instantly when I get out of the car is awesome.

I'm just curious as to whether a racing wheel will work. Would anyone happen know what to expect regarding wheel support? This would be the absolute icing on the cake for me I swear.

I'm guessing AMD CHS stands for Contact Hardening Shadows which would mean it's essentially the same as Nvidia's PCSS.
If so, then either of those will be the best quality since it simulates how real shadows work by calculating how far from the object the shadow is being cast and softens it gradually depending on that distance.

They might differ a bit on how well one does it over the other though but I'd bet they're going to be very similar in quality.

Can I run GTAV with an i3 2100? My video card is definitely up to snuff (7970).
Yes

Custom Soundtracks
It may not be the Spotify integration we were hoping for, but Rockstar is letting players make their own radio station using music files on their computer. After putting copies of song selections into a specific folder, you can listen to them on the Self Radio station. An auto scan will identify new songs as you add them upon starting the game.

Players have a few different options for listening to these custom soundtracks. You can play them sequentially, shuffle the collection, or have Rockstar integrate them into a radio experience complete with commercial breaks, station IDs, bumpers, and banter between DJs Cliff Lee and Andee, who you may remember from Lips 106 in Liberty City Stories. In the pause menu you can choose whether you want to have the songs play in the order you have them in the folder or to let the game analyze the collection and build a playlist order.

If you don’t want to build your own station, you can enjoy some new tunes on the in-game stations courtesy of Rockstar. For the PC version, the developer added The Lab FM, hosted by Alchemst and Oh No, to the rotation. Artists featured on this eclectic new station include Earl Sweatshirt of OFWGKTA fame, Little Dragon, Tunde Adebimpe from TV on the Radio, Phantogram, Freddie Gibbs, Gangrene, Future Islands’ Samuel Herring, and more.

That is really tricky to say. Their minimum is a Q6600, which is a really low end quad core. If i'm not mistaken, an i3 2100 is dual core and poorer performance than the Q6600, so it seems doubt full unless the min specs are not accurate, which is often the case going either way.
