I assume that I need to upgrade my processor which is an i3-2120 Sandy Bridge Dual Core 3.3GHz huh?

My graphics card should suffice (Radeon HD 7950 3GB)

I don't care about how high the high settings can go, but how low the lower ones can go. I won't be satisfied unless I can run 60fps on my laptop.

Unless you've got a chunky beast of a laptop then you are pretty unreasonable to satisfy

I am expecting nothing less than a max Payne 3 quality port here.

Maxing out everything tho no fuks given

Unless a setting is broken..
It all comes down to how optimized it is. Oh and good SLI driver needs to be ready day one. 😊

Self Radio is the best news I've heard today. Cruising around Blane county with my own music means I'll get a lot of playtime on this shit.

Most of that shit I can take or leave, just give me triple buffering! How can they have an entire article about PC configuration setting and not even mention vsync?

Very impressive.

I don't remember tessellation being featured on consoles so that's already a PC only improvement, nice to see PCSS as well.

And also, borderless window?
Worst case scenario you'll just have to use a program to force it, so it isn't too much of a big deal.

I don't think I'm gonna use borderless window for this beast though. Purely because I want to be able to record stuff with Nvidia Shadowplay, and Shadowplay won't detect games unless they're fullscreen. Makes me sad.

Wouldn't letting ShadowPlay record the desktop work for borderless fullscreen games?

It does, I use it all the time.

The only "problem" (or more accurately "niggle") is that it won't put your videos in neat folders (everything is desktop for understandable reasons).

Yup, however it doesn't capture any audio (at least from my experience). If anyone knows a way around this please let me know haha.
Hmm, I don't really know a way around it, since it "just works" (TM) for me. I guess what I can tell you is that it can work ;)

You tell me cause I don't really know about pc specs and stuff. I don't really mind lowering resolution and settings as long as the game runs smoothly without overheating my laptop. Some specs that cyri pulled from my laptop:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz
Video Card 1 Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
Video Card 2 NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M
Memory 8.1 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 8 (build 9200), 64-bit

It runs most games just fine when I put the resolution on 720p, but it kinda depends on how low some settings go on prettier games.

People with high end GPUs will fling everything to max then complain it is "unoptimised" disregarding the actual cost of the different effects they're cranking up.

It happens all the time and it's so frustrating.

And damaging. No wonder some developpers just don't bother.

My 4770K/970 is going to be wrecked if I put each of these settings to their max value, like <20fps.

A mix of high/ultra should do fine. I'm aiming for 50-60fps.

Oh wow! Okay this is good news and bad news. Good because it works. Bad because I have no idea how to make it work.

I shall investigate it in a few hours when I get back to my PC :p. I guarantee you the problem is something really obvious, except I'm a really oblivious derp.

Edit: Did some googling. It's a bug. Found out how to fix it. SO HAPPY NOW!

Depends what you mean by hold up. You exceed the recommended specs assuming that crossfire works properly, but what 'recommended' means in regards to what frame rate you'll get at what settings, we don't really know yet.

Only having 2 GB of VRAM will probably put some limits on the really high end stuff, but my guess (which is obviously only speculation) is that you'll be fine.

Thanks. I guess I'll try and wait for some benchmarks.

Problem is lately I've been having trouble finding performance info for my cards (probably because they're about 4 years old now) so it's really hard to get a good idea how games will run on my system.

Part of why I haven't bought a PC game in quite some time.

You will be able to run games at 1080p/60 for many years to come. It just depends on what settings you are willing to compromise. Hint: AO and tessellation should always be the first to go, expensive and difficult to notice in motion.

So, I'm looking forward to the vast amounts of mods we'll be seeing pop up quickly for the game once released but, I found some generic hacks/mods for the JTAG xbox 360...

To name a few:

☼Semi_God
☼Rapid climbing
☼Traffic is frozen
☼Security vs. cops
☼Gangs betray each other
☼Increased melee "Radius"
☼Recover instantly from falling
☼Mercenaries betray each other
☼Pay-N-Spray without losing cops
☼Authorities are slow while navigating vehicles

Good to know. It still shocks me how bad GTA4 runs, that game is ancient and on max settings my system can't even hit a regular 45 fps, frequent drops to 30.

Sounds like 5 is much more well optimized.
