Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

sometimes i wonder why Pinwheel is even a boss. man, that was bad lol
The problem with Pinwheel is that he seems to have been balanced as the first boss despite being located in an area that will rip apart most low-leveled players. It's like From was balancing him for Catacombs runs.

So...uh...I guess my finger slipped and I accidentally strong attacked the doll and she looks dead as a doormat. I tried to exit out quickly but it saved over.

Am I screwed as far as any achievements? I'm at level 90 on my first playthrough and want to platinum on next play through. I guess I can still level up but am not sure if I should reload my cloud save...

I died more times against the Cleric Beast than I did against ever boss in A Tier put together.

First playthrough it took me twenty tries to beat
Father Gascoigne
. I have no idea what my hangup was. I rolled a new character yesterday and nailed him the first time his intro cutscene played.

What it a decent level for Rom? Just can't get through the third phase. Too many spiders!

I've found that killing the first wave of spiders makes it a bit easier to survive the adds later. It's easy because he doesn't even attack in that first phase. It makes the fight a bit slower, but it helped me.

Jeff Gerstmann helped me play Bloodborne better, I got so much farther after listening to his segment about it on the Giantbombcast. I'd been using R2 as my main attack instead of R1, this was a huge mistake.

Wait did Gerstmann play Bloodborne? Odd, iirc he was the of the few in the GB crew to avoid the Souls games. Looks like this one pulled him in then.

So this thing where i pick up my souls and the whole screen goes almost black is kinda dumb. I cant see shit captain. It's especially great when i have 5 enemies on my ass and i get demolished cuz im blind for 4 seconds.

Try to go to any location and then back to HD. She should be alive.

Yeah that's pretty annoying. I circle around hoping I won't get hit.

Lmao. Just magic explode a bunch of random projectiles at you. That's fucking stupid. So what's the trick to that?

When he starts to charge that move, all you have to do is hit him to interrupt it. Even a pistol ore blunderbuss shot will work if you're too far away for melee.

Finally got my Platinum, beat
Yharnam
on my first try, probably over levelled at lvl142. Amazing game, not as good as Dark Souls for me personally but with over 100 hours and two playthroughs, I'm extremely satisfied. Although I will say it's not without it's faults, particularly the Chalice dungeons which can be monotonous and samey. At least the extra bosses make up for it.

Series rank:

Dark Souls>Demon's Souls=Bloodborne>>Dark Souls 2

Ive been trying to avoid looking up anything so far (outside of how the fuck do bells work) and i just have a couple of questions

1.I know about the "real ending" thing. What is the absolute final boss I can beat before I should stop and go back and find the items?

2. I got my first chalice. I'm somewhere between 45-55 right now(at work so can't look) Can I start chalice stuff now or is all that more end game stuff? Want to see if I should try it out or if i'd just be wasting items

I also felt p good because I beat that BSB asshole on my first try, though I was a. overleveled (went all through hemwick first) and b. used fire paper and tore his shit up

I stop before
Mergo
. You can beat her, but she gives you nothing useful unless you are ready to beat the game.
Once you beat her the Hunter's Dream will always be on fire and I like it being peaceful so I wait until I am ready for NG+ before I do Mergo.

The best farming spot in the game is availble leading right up to her. Its a great place to prepare for NG+ and the final boss. Not hard at all to get lvl 100 fast in that spot.

Z4WlINj.jpg

Hell yeah, joined the Platinum Club. Ended up doing all my Chalice shit by myself, even though I tried summoning.

My dude even looks boss as fuck with one foot on a rock.

Spoiler for final Chalice boss trophy:

So anyone got tips or a strategy for this one?

Amygdala
(Defiled Chalice)

I can get it half way if I do that wait behind him and make him jump then hit him as lands above you strat. But after that point and he changes his jump to jump forward instead, is where I get killed, as try to just stay close and just hit his leg or tail.

Chalice dungeons confuse me, I'll go through some floors and eventually a boss will be in a circular arena and when I beat it... nothing. Do the chalice dungeons not end, do you just have to leave?

Your 'chalice' is over. Make a new one with a different chalice. There's shit like 'Ailing Loran Chalice' and 'Great Isz Chalice' and stuff.

you are going behind too soon. Wait til he breaks off his arms and holds them. This happens at 25-30%.

Ph 1- Where he is just doing normal attacks occasionally presenting his head to you to hit.
Ph2- (where you are) same attacks except he adds some Arcane ground pounds. Hit him after he does that he gives you 5 seconds to get a hit in
Ph 3- He will be holding broken limbs in his arms and uses them as weapons. This is when you get behind him, he will always jump away.

I had that problem when I first started. I was wondering why I was so slow.

Yeah once you get to the last floor you just leave.

Uhh like every area that doesn't have a certain vacuous boss in it :p

Normally you'll get a new chalice from the final boss as a 'reward'. You have to exit through the final lamp, then make a new dungeon if you want.

I'm gonna start the Ailing Loran one now. This is going to take longer than I hoped. Luckily I get to take a long break from the dungeons, since I'm in NG+ and I'm missing
an item you have to get from mother brain in NoM
to make the final dungeon

And I'm SO not looking forward to that Defiled dungeon

I just realized after looking often my control corrections post again, a couple of the things I noted on there are things that people in our PSN party last night said they hadn't noticed or realized, so I'm gonna take a little bit and type up a full controls list (to the best of my knowledge). I still have literally not seen a complete and accurate one anywhere so I'll add it to the wiki too I suppose.

Can you farm chalices for insight after you beat them by cancelling the tombstone and restarting it? I've beaten the first one and haven't used the two chalices I got yet.

Fuck Watchdog of the Old Lords. Got him down to 15-20% health and he does a one-hit kill jump attack on me out of nowhere and my dodge was useless.

The camera keeps fucking me over when I get close to his legs and he turns. From Software really needs to improve the camera when locked on. Would it be so difficult to have it pan back and level out if your target is really close and above you so you're not looking up from the ground?

Just got this game Monday and have played a decent amount of it & streamed a bunch of it last night. HOLY CRAP, I enjoy it.

I didn't really play much of the Souls games outside of the first area of both, but I got to the first boss and got my ass handed to me last night, but had a blast trying to figure out what will/won't work.

Even managed to make a somewhat decent looking black hunter in the process, lol.

Not sure what's worse, getting bullshitted by enemies in N
ightmare
F
rontier
, or by invaders when trying to retrieve souls in N
ightmare
F
rontier
.

I was wondering, how many different Hunters you end up fighting in the game? I killed
Henryk
, and when I took the right path from
Amelia
I encountered 2 more,
a guy with a Tonitrus, and another with some cool looking holy robes
. I was lev 45 when I got the other 2.

My new fav thing is walking, and r2 into visceral. Just discovered this. Basically when I met the other 2 hunters, It was by accident. I was being curious, and when I took the right path, I immediately hopped on the building, and dropped down in the lil cubby space to the left, instead of going down the stairs. I popped out, and saw them facing away from me, so I just slowly walked up to 1, and did the combo. then finished him with a r1 l1 r1 T
onitrus
combo. Second guy was a piece of cake. Staggering him was pretty easy.

Dont use lock on for this boss.

Lock is required/helps for boss like
Gerhman, BSB, Micolash, Shadow of Yarnem, Father G, Logarious,
ie anyone that is small and has quick attacks or can be parried easily

Lock on sucks at least in my opinion for
Amagdala, Watchdog, Cleric Beast, VA, Moon Presence, Paarl, Rom, Ebrietas

Mergo, Celetrial Emissary and Witch
seem to work equally with or without it.

What weapon do you use to kill them?

Cane in cane mode, or Ludwigs 1H. key is dont lock on. Just walk around them as soon as you are on their flank give them a simple R2, if you dont kill them (might have a sliver of health) follow with an immediate R1 and roll just incase another spider is leaping. If a spider leaps to you give it a quick R1 and it should die (almost no defense when they are on their heads).

Takes me 45 seconds or so to clear a wave. Then I can focus on
Rom
and when you are not worried about getting jumped by spiders is very easy to not let him hit you at all.

Controls are listed in the digital manual (which I guess no one reads): https://docs.playstation.com/reader/#/documents/bloodborne-ps4?chapter=2&page=1

Lv 17 and almost best Amelia. Darn! So close. Just let myself get hit with too many cheap shots. Will gather 20 vials and try that again I know I can do it!

Lv 17 using whip + 2 so I could put my gemstone in. Going for a Bloodtinge / Skill build this time around with the repeating pistol

yeah, i actually didn't know that backstep-attack was a thing

Slaughtered. I had forgotten about this boss until one of my female friends called me and asked if I had beaten it yet and I was like oh snap. lol Now with that done, I'm kinda tempted to go do another optional area before staring to end the game. Can I do C
ainhurst
C
astle
at Level 62 or should I go do N
ightmare
of M
ensis
first and then C
ainhurst
next?

So after you beat
Rom
and go to the
Unseen Village
, I found a room that had a treasure chest behind 4 gated walls. It was in the area before where the
giant monster thing shoots a laser at you (basically before the second lamp in the Unseen Village).
If anyone knows where I'm talking about, how do I get to that treasure? The room has a respawning big monster (the ones who drop vials) and a respawning guy in a wheel chair who shoots at you.

At this point i might just leave ebi on WoS, betweenthe camera/ poorly designed charge move/ constant hp drain... I'm no longer dying cause its my own fault.

You can dodge the charge, but it takes two dodges and you need to get the first one off quite early. You could also try the flamesprayer + bone ash + oil urn if you have some upgrade mats left for it.

I see Edge's review is not on Meta yet. Anyone know what they give it? I am just curious because the outtakes they released in early March are what got me hyped for this game. And I am so so glad I did get hyped for it.

So I am pretty sure that this is the case but can someone confirm that when I carry on into NG+ I will still have all my chalice items and that they dungeons don't level up.

I want to go through and do them all, but will wait until I am a higher level.

Thanks

Before the laser area with many women, there's a open in the fence you can drop down. It's the upper cathedral key.
