Combat
Triangle uses a Blood Vial to heal.
R3 (click right stick) locks on to enemies. Switch between targets by moving the right stick while locked on.
R1 is a light right-hand attack. R1, close to enemy when staggered is a Visceral Attack.
R2 is a heavy right-hand attack. Hold R2 for a charged heavy right-hand attack. From behind, charged attacks stagger enemies for a Visceral Attack.
Forward + R2 is a heavy right-hand jump attack. (attack is different depending on weapon form)
L2 is a shot/attack from your left-hand weapon. Used to interrupt an attack before impact, this staggers enemies for a Visceral Attack. When holding certain right-hand weapons with two hands, L2 is a unique melee attack instead.
L1 transforms your weapon. This can be used while moving. L1 after any other attack is a transformation attack, leaving your weapon in its other form.
O is a backstep.
O + R1 is a backstep right-hand light attack. (attack is different depending on weapon form)
O + R2 is a backstep right-hand heavy attack. (attack is different depending on weapon form)
O + L1 is a backstep + transformation attack, leaving your weapon in its other form.
O + Left Stick (any direction) is a roll. If locked onto and close to an enemy, you will sidestep instead of rolling.
O + Left Stick (any direction) + R1 is a rolling right-hand light attack. (attack is different depending on weapon form)
O + Left Stick (any direction) + L1 is a roll + transformation attack, leaving your weapon in its other form.
Hold O + Left Stick (sprint) + R1 is a running right-hand light attack. (attack is different depending on weapon form)
Hold O + Left Stick (sprint) + R2 is a running right-hand light attack. (attack is different depending on weapon form)
Notes for Souls Series Veterans
There are always habits to unlearn and break when going from one of these games to another. Obviously a lot has changed combat-wise in this one, but the things I really needed to sit down and tell myself were: there is no Forward + R1/"kick" attack, charged R2s are a huge deal, and there are definitely separate running and backstep attacks for R1 and R2, in each weapon form. Finally, unlike backstab/riposte, visceral attacks can be performed on seemingly any enemy, including bosses, though some enemies may take multiple shots to stagger.
If anyone sees any issues with this or anything I didn't include, please let me know, I'd like it to be as accurate as possible.
