I'm getting demolished in
Mensis and those damn arrows
. Like I can't even get passed the beginning. And twice I got invaded. Frustration hasn't been this high in a while.

Equip high frenzy resistance gear and use the frenzy resistance rune. Those should help a lot.

Should I be concerned if I have... 4 ... thirds of a thing?

Per my policy in Souls games of checking every zone to kill absolute all NPCs before the last battle (only I may survive!) this is what I ended up with.

Saw Cleaver.

I tried every other weapon and I just went back to the cleaver. In my opinion, it has the perfect balance between speed with the short and the damage dealing with the long.

The scaling in this game is jacked. In the same time it takes you to wind up to hit, I can get 3 or 4 hits in the same amount of time to do the same damage. The stagger and the stamina bar hit more than make up for the deficiencies I encounter.

This game feels like it is all about the gems.

I looked more towards the moveset over the damage output. Axe has a really good R2 charge, the double handed L2 has very good range for its speed, the jump attack is good for a punish, etc.

I liked the range moreso than anything else, AoE sweeping quick annoying enemies like dogs pretty easily. Not being able to shoot without going one handed is probably the biggest weakness for it, but I can't overstate how crazy the R2 is.

So after defeating The One Reborn I've been grinding to level up before heading to the next area. Right now I'm at level 76, is this enough to beat the game? How far away from the ending am I?

I wonder though, about Visceral Attacks: what is the calculator for the damage it deals here? Is it based on your weapon power? Because if it so, then slow hitting weapons offer a much bigger advantage in terms of Viscerals, yeah?
Saw cleaver is fast but has piss scaling, and no reach. Also the L2 moveset is horribad, I ditched it as soon as I found something else. Visceral attack damage is based on your weapon's attack strength.

76 is fine, and you're
2,3 or 4
bosses away depending on what ending you get.

So are people actually able to use the Chikage transformed? Haven't played in a while but even at level 150+ it didn't ever seem worth to press L1 and drain my HP faster than an enemy could.

Seriously I don't remember BSB being such a pain in my first playtrough! 1 grab, get poisoned, do falling animation, dodge to get out of the dash attack that's incoming, die because of poison, if I don't dodge and try to use bloodvial, die because of the dash attack. I'm on checkmate right now!

Guess I beat logarius for the first time tonight without assistance. Destroyed him infact, fight was way more harder in my head.

Remote play is near perfect after the 60 fps update. In fact, the vita is my preferred way to play this game. (I'm only at
Father Gascoigne
but I've played quite a few hours on both the ps4 and vita (I'm also terrible) and the vita is fantastic for this. Anyone with DS2 on ps4 know if remote play works similarly? Might pick it up soon!

no its fine. the 4th ones there in case you mess up.
Wow, leeway for mistakes in a Souls game?! I suppose it would be easy to miss one if you happened to send a particular person to the wrong place near the start if you didn't pick up on a few veeeeeeeery subtle hints.

So I realized I'm like level 120, and I totally didn't mean it, and that I can probably do plenty of a NG+ at that level. It's not my fault the third layer of the first depth 5 chalice is like 100,000 echos per clearance in about 3 minutes! Plus good gem farming! This was even more of an overwhelming surge of echos than the witch village was when I unlocked it. 15,000 a trip was 2-3 levels at the time.
Lvl 48 and
Yahar'gul village
is a hell.
That's pretty low. I legitimately think the player is MEANT to run through the first segment like a coward to get to the extremely generous midway lamp. If you're really desperate to get out of the area you can make a run through the church and unlock an elevator that will take you close to the boss. Skipping the entire zone is surprisingly easy compared to others. Clear the zone "backwards" for the loot after the boss.

But the Vita doesn't have enough buttons?!

I'm at level 60+ and the drain isn't really that significant unless you're keeping it out longer than you should.

It doesn't seem stagger folks much... though I suppose the fact that its longer form doesn't make your gun disappear is an advantage, plus it attacks faster.

I wonder though, about Visceral Attacks: what is the calculator for the damage it deals here? Is it based on your weapon power? Because if it so, then slow hitting weapons offer a much bigger advantage in terms of Viscerals, yeah?

I find the saw spear to have a better moveset, and I used it to defeat 6 bosses. Focused more on hitting and having enough stamina to retreat, rather than going for stagger.

I'm kinda sure that visceral attacks are a function of weapon power and a multiplier that may be different for each weapon. Also, each weapon has a different charge up time for R2, so maybe a faster weapon can be better than a slow weapon for visceral chaining.

I really would like to pick Miyazaki's brain to try and find out why he thinks dogs and morons doing bellyflops are the most dangerous things in the universe.

Yeah, I'm planning to lvl up big time after getting to
Cainhurst
.

Visceral attack damage is based on your weapon's attack strength.
Are you sure? I remember testing with a weapon that had twice the attack but did about 10-20% more damage with visceral attacks. And I think it even had a visceral increasing gem so the damage was pretty much equal.

In my play through I'd only use it's transform special attack L1, R1 then quickly sheath it again. Does crazy damage, barely any drain.

No one knows anything about the Abandoned Old Workshop?

So.... A few questions about some hidden stuff.
On my second playthrough and finally found Abandoned Old Workshop, which was amazing. There's a bunch of specters there (visions of people who died) and they're all attacking the doll. I tried, and nothing happened. What the fuck is going on with that? Is there a hidden fight there later or something?

But the Vita doesn't have enough buttons?!

It's not too bad, L2 and R2 are mapped to the bottom left and right on the touchscreen. Only annoying thing is lock on is mapped to the rear touchpad, and it doesn't register all the time when I press it. It usually works fine, but doesn't register just enough to be annoying.

I definitely prefer playing on my TV, but remote play isn't too bad.

Well it's definitely not just based on your stats alone, since swapping weapons gives different numbers, and an upgraded weapon usually does better than one that isn't.

I will start Chalice Dungeons tomorrow but I haven't a clue of how they work.
Is there an in-depth guide somewhere? I want to read it before going to bed so I can have a better understanding of what I should be doing tomorrow.

I'm guessing it might be a popular pvp spot. There's no fighting there.
unless Mizayaki is trolling us with fake deaths, I find it odd that 5 separate people died there, right after attacking the doll. I've seen tons of people die in safe areas, but it's always due to Chikage or The Wheel.

they die there just for something to do and to play with people's minds like you, I was more interested in the sex sounds coming from the bushes! ;)

You can kill yourself with both of those weapons.

Oh, I read this wrong. der.

YES! I finally beat
Abhorrent Beast again
in the Ailing Loran chalice dungeon. The first time I cheezed it with poison Knives and hated myself for being a bitch. Then I found out I had to do it again and just quit the dungeon for a day. But YES! I beat and I beat him LEGIT.

Now the Defiled Watchdog....

Nice, I thought this fight was almost as hard as the defiled bosses.

What. I don't think I ever noticed this. I'm constantly watching porn though ;)

yeah its pretty subtle, but its unmistakably sexual, not just random moaning ...I spent far longer than I should have trying to find the woman .....since I have the sony gold headphones I pinpointed her vocals to just in between the two trees in the center of the area.

Where I can find some good dungeons codes to explore and find materials for the next chalices

i searched for what I wanted on reddit...but I never have the right chalice or materials...I have to progress a bit further ...although I am stuck on
ROM
at the lower Pthumeru third layer. I think I will finally get the branch out chalices later tonight.

BTW can someone confirm this? When I first got captured by
death dealers and was brought to yahar'gul village, I explored the area and stumbled onto a boss after coming down from the dungeon to the outside cliff. Now after Rom, the entire place got more fucked up, and just wondering if that boss is gone as well, like all other enemies when I first arrived in yahar'gul initially
.

I have a bug in game...I was in front of the Ebritas boss door...Ringed small bell and someone summoned me and game threw me to upstairs....Now elevator is at downstairs and when i use the lever it doesnt come up. So Ebritas is spared....I cannot go to downstairs with elevator

Three hunters at once, this is bullshit.

Here is a video I made today on how to split them up a bit. I just encountered them for the first time on my playthrough earlier today....I didnt even try figting them as a gank sqaud.

I really suggest this simple melee strat - dodge a bit early on the right side...it keeps him locked in a loop of dodging you instead of being on the offensive.
Stuck at SoY boss... Those three are hard to get x.x
Just be patient for the right time to attack....this video shows how I did it the first time when I was chicken...later I steamrolled them when I started over with Blade of Mercy.
