The girl that turns into a beast i think you're referring to is V
icar Amelia
. After killing her, did you walk up to the
altar with that giant skull in the middle
? The password door will lead you to the
Forbidden Woods
. I think you should finish exploring what you can of the Unseen Village now, there's some useful stuff there. As for the locked door you mention, you can find the key to that later.

Explore the cathedral ward thoroughly

I did go to the altar and had a vision. Sort of looked like a flashback. It seemed like a guy named Lawrence was deserting his master or something similar. Wheelchair guy also mentioned Lawrence in his sleep. I also remember getting some sort of golden pendant or something, not sure if that was from the altar or from Amelia. Either way I used it to get a blood gem - did I screw up by doing this?

Ferrio - By cathedral ward you mean the whole place around Oedon Chapel? That's the thing, I'm not really sure what the "cathedral ward" is. I also went to a place with 2 renegade hunters that led me to a huge room with what looked like a sacrificial plate in the middle. If I went to the door in there I would be killed by a "supreme being", which I assume is an old god or something similar ( don't spoil even if I'm wrong please :p ). The door was also closed so it was another dead end.

Thanks for the help btw :)

Where do I go after Logarius?
edit: i havent beaten amygdala, the newborn or nightmare mensis yet. where to go, yo?

Did you
equip
the
crown
and
walk
behind his
throne
?

That was an optional area, so you would just continue on with whatever else you hadn't done yet.

Amygdala
is optional.
Newborn
and
Mensis
are not.

What's the difference between the two?

I know "git gud" is a terrible response, & I hope you don't take offense to that, but it's simply that, if you're not good enough to beat the boss in 5-10 tries, then you need a break.

Difference between what? I meant to add unlimited vials but with a smaller maximum, I find that encourages better play more than grinding out 20 and tanking hits.

"git gud" is what everyone should do, but I don't really feel like grinding vials does anything but waste time, or encourage better play.

Vial grinding isn't an issue for me personally, I mean, I ironically also started a full bloodtinge character yesterday and I've gone though, I think, 5 bosses with my vials maxed out. It's different for me, though, since I've already gone through the game 4 times. I'll still never defend the mechanic even if it's not an issue for me.

Might be going back to DSII for a bit. Can't kill blood starved beast, can't kill machine gun man, even with help. Not enjoying this.

EDIT: Okay. game felt bad for me as machine gun man just did a backdash off the building. lol.

BTW, what do these badges do?

Where do I go after Logarius?

Logarius is an optional boss, so hard to tell. But as you do not know I think you should go through the forbidden forrest to defeat the s
hadow of yahrnam
and then go on to
bergenwyrth
.

BSB is not mandatory and you can skip the boss atm, just go up the cathedral ward main stairs and turn left right before the boss door and you'll reach
hemwick crossing (after a small forrest area)
. Do that area first, kill the boss there (not that hard!) and level up a bit more and then return to BSB.

ok so i think you should finish exploring what you can of the unseen village and then, head over to the password door to get to the
forbidden forest
. you will eventually return to the place with the sacrificial plate and find the door open. also, there is an item you can get which will stop that
supreme being from killing you and actually let you access another area. if you don't have it at this point i'm not sure what the trigger to get it is but try talking to npcs in the windows

I asked the other day and someone said it was possible, but I've been trying to summon someone to fight G
herman
for over 10 minutes and it's just not happening. Can anyone clarify or am I just over/underleveled? I'm level 57.

The last thing I want to do is farm yharnam bridge for blood vials ad nauseum. All sarcasm from my previous post aside, blood vials are real easy drops at the beginning to the middle of the game. Later they don't seem to drop as much or as easily. The bosses also get tougher some of them having multiple one shot kills that unless you read about it before hand or you knew it was coming, you are probably going to die.

You couple this with the multiple load times you see going back to hunters dream then going back to yharnam then going back to hunters dream again, it equals boredom not tension. Yes I wish I could one shot kill every boss in this game and brag about it on here, but the reality is that for me not having estus flasks means that I spend a fuckton of time farming like an MMO instead of playing the game. It's not a deal breaker, in fact I'm near the platinum trophy for the game, but it's needlessly annoying and the defense for it always seems to be: I don't have a problem with it because I'm a better player, rather than actually justifying why it adds anything to the game.

I think unlike Souls where you get a shield to fall back on, in Bloodborne you're expected to get hit... Lot.

With Estus you have only a fixed amount till the next safe point. With Vials, you have a chance to regain them back throughout the run which then encourages you to take more risk with the parry and other crazy things.

This thread had me concerned about
Ebrietas
, but it took me 2 tries. I admit to ZERO tactics on this one...unless deciding to go HAM with a +9 Tonitrus and sticking to it like glue for a few attempts is considered tactics. First try I got pinned, and it almost happened again the second.

I need the blood gem master, the last weapon that is in a chalice dungeon (ugh), and the chalice dungeon boss trophy. Yeah...not so sure I want to do the dungeons...

Ah! Wait, i killed that guy in Yaragul. I should go that way. Forgot about that!

Running to the boss instead of putting check points right before the boss is also "a waste of time", the reason you have to run back to the boss is because the game punishes you for failure.

If you think punishment for failure is a "waste of time", I'm afraid Miyazaki's games aren't for you, as I imagine most of his future IPs will punish you for failure.

EDIT: Just to add, you said vials aren't a problem for you anymore, do you know why? because you're good enough now to stack them up, if the mechanic was flawed, it will punish you even if you're too good, which is not the case here at all, the amount of time you need to farm blood vials (or blood echoes) is entirely dependent on your skill, if you're good enough, you'll spend 0 seconds farming anything. Plenty of people in this very thread were farming echoes to level up because they don't feel they're strong enough to face the current boss with their level, what's the difference between that & not being good enough to beat the boss with your current blood vials?

Have you died to him already? I think that's a requirement. 57 might be a bit low for it too, but I would find it hard to believe no one is in that level range. Did you leave a password on, maybe? Accidentally went to offline mode?

Dumb questions, but it's happened to me before.

People may just not be looking.

aaah fuck
so in Nightmare Mensis there
was this lady that was all in white (wedding dress) handcuffed with a bleeding stomach
accidentally killed her, does she do anything?
she was after micolash and the three pigs

Oh man you're a legend! I've left my password on from co-op with a friend the other day!

Thank you so much for the reminder!

What would I need to do to summon a coop partner or two in my Defiled Chalice Dungeon? Is that even possible?

They need to be not only in the same type of dungeon, but they need to be at the same place in your specific dungeon. So you need to use a public dungeon of the same type with a glyph code like the ones on the Bloodborne wiki or make yours public and share it with your friends.

what are your choices when you are asked for the password? The prompt should have changed after beating Amelia and watching that cutscene. (your character now knows the password).

Might be going back to DSII for a bit. Can't kill blood starved beast, can't kill machine gun man, even with help. Not enjoying this.

For the Hunter with on the gun, choose a quick weapon, kirkhammer's one handed works nicely. He's pretty easy to knock off if you time it right. He's a lot harder to kill outright so focus on luring him to the edge. The quick weapon strikes should knock him off. The item he drops will be there when you load back into the zone. Blood starved beast can be affected by lures. You probably won't get more than a couple of shots using the method but the later half of the fight is not as bad if you can start throwing blood cocktails out there.

she was after micolash and the three pigs

i could give you the long version but short answer is no. Start doing chaluce dungeons and you'll see her again...

You're missing it somehow. From the chapel go to the court yard with the two giants. Go out one of the side exits in that courtyard, take a left. Now follow it to the end. If you saw the cutscene on the alter you should have the pass.

I feel like the regain system already serves to rectify this.

Running back to the boss makes sense, and takes all of 30 seconds. That, and I already explained I don't view vial farming as punishment anyway. I don't really feel like arguing anymore about this since it's not going to go anywhere, were always going to disagree, so let's just leave it at that.

All right.
Mergo's Wet Nurse
beaten. Somebody told me to use
music box
against her, didn't seem to do much. So I fought her fair and square. It wasn't a tough battle but at the beginning as I learned her moves she got a couple of good hits in. Thankfully she's slow as shit. Beat her first try. We'll see how the last two bosses are. But since VA I haven't had a tough time with bosses. With maybe two of them having to try twice.

You have to
inspect
the
skull
in the Great Cathedral to get the password.

Does the amount of insight effect the chalice dungeons?

Also, is anyone else unhappy with the way these dungeons were designed? All areas in the story look so much more lovely due to the little details everywhere, but these dungeons so far... pretty bland imo.

Lore question:

Can anyone give any context to the Nightmare of mensis? I don't think I found anything that explains Micolash and Mergo's wet nurse... and for that matter Mergo.

Congrats!
I didn't notice anything but the baby stops crying when you use it at the end. Probably just an Easter egg? Who knows.
good luck!

So I finally found the 3 pieces of the umbilical cord ...question is should I consume it now???? ..I just arrived at mergo's loft middle section not sure how close I am to beating the game. ??

I don't think there's any evidence that insight effects the chalice.

I agree the chalice dungeons aren't that great, but with it being randomly generated, I don't think they could really do much anything to make it better or on the same level as the main game. It's just a means to give players something else to do.

So I finally found the 3 pieces of the umbilical cord ...question is should I consume it now???? ..I just arrived at mergo's loft middle section not sure how close I am to beating the game. ??

If you want to go for the good ending, you can consume them at any point before completing the final battle.

if you want to get all three endings by backing up your save/reloading it after each ending, don't consume them.

This is a good point. I did three separate play-throughs, so this didn't occur to me.

People are still talking about the blood vials? they're not a problem AT ALL, I just started my bloodtinge character a few hours ago, beat 3 bosses & on my way to beat
The Witch
& my storage is already full, the only reason someone would run out of blood vials is if s/he fails at bosses repeatedly, & if you do, well, the game punishes you for it, you should be punished, the estus flask was a crutch & it failed to punish you for not learning from your mistakes.

Maybe now you'll pay attention to the boss's patterns instead of making the same mistakes over & over now that you don't have infinite healing items?

I've always made a point of using any left over blood to get vials. Keeps the stock up at all times.

Pretty good tactic I think.

fuck..
I went back to the password door and now I can answer..this is really really strange because I went there at least 2 times after defeating Amelia and I still couldn't answer anything... I don't understand..is there anything else besides the cutscenes that prompts the ability to answer?

Thank you very much for the help :)

Pretty good tactic I think.

That's what I did on my first playthrough.

After going back to the hunter's dream I go repair my weapons > level up > buy any newly unlocked fashionborne items > buy vials.

I started doing that around one third of the way through, I never had a problem with vials after that.

Yeah I'm not a fan of them. Won't be going back to them now I've got my plat.

That said, it was never going to be anything exceptional, especially with the random versions. Just isn't enough time to give them the same level as detail as the main game has.

Not to mention, people who like dungeon crawling a lot will most likely enjoy them quite a bit. Just a shame I'm not one of those.

That's really strange because I did in fact do that and still couldn't answer. I just went there now ( after defeating
the witches and unlocking runes
) and Now I can answer..is it a bug or something ?

Yeah that is the right way ;) And do not forget about
the upper cathedral ward
optional area. I nearly missed it.

yea, stuck at the 2nd boss there now. Might come back to it. Might not.

And has anyone find a way to achieve more succes when invading?

Sweet, finished my first playthrough finally with the help of co-op. Seriously, fuck G
herman
! Finished at level 57 with 67 hours played, onto NG+.

Parry the shit out of him. Makes the fight much easier.

Thanks, just killed that motherfucker!

Well, that ending... but still, I have no idea what was going on in Bloodborne most of the time to be honest. It was just overall an incredible experience. For those on the fence, give it a chance. Never played a Souls game before but it was worth it.

So i consumed all 3 unblical cord one after another at once. Got insights but nothing else happened ..any quest or something suppose to trigger or its all going to lead to a different ending .
