Will Kojima pull another "Raiden" in Phantom Pain?

I might be pulling this bet from my wish fulfillment jar, but with the rumors that Kiefer Sutherland recorded not that many minutes of dialogue (bearing in mind this series tradition for voice acting of the main character) and the fact that they chose one of the most prolific voice actors in the industry to be Revolver Ocelot, is there a chance that we might play the majority of the game with Ocelot and not Big Boss?

of course the minutes rumor might be only a rumor and maybe they would not get Kiefer if he knew he would not be the main character. But still, I really like Ocelot's character and I wouldnt mind playing from his devious perspective in this one (and it wouldn't be a total "Raiden" since we know him and he is cool).

still, odds on that?

(btw, first thread ever, dont laugh too hard please) =P

I definitely feel like there's some big twist in TTP.

Also, i'm fully invested in the the idea that the end of the game consists of solid snake infiltrating outer heaven.
He may or may not be voiced by david hayter.

We did not know the "Meme" cornerstone of Sons of Liberty before release. Of course we are leading with the expectation of this game being mainly about the formation of Outer Heaven and Big Boss transformation. But still, from day 1 (Joakim Mogren included) there's some kind of a void in this game plot and structure, I am also expecting a twist (maybe not as big as the one above), and I really like Ocelot and think he deserves more before this series is stripped from Kojima's hands.

Nah. Twists and turns for sure, but Punished Kiefer start to finish. And if there is a "Raiden" sized twist it'll be something different, not just a copy of MGS2's lead bait and switch.

Not a chance. Ocelot is a gunslinging tryhard. He's an incredible spy and triple agent, but he has nowhere near the field experience and combat skills. Playing as Ocelot makes zero sense.

Not to mention MGSV is about Big Boss' descent into madness, pulling a Raiden would undermine that entire concept.

Yeah, you will play most of the game as a clone of Raiden sent from the future and the game will turn into a platformer around 2 hours in.

Because nanomachines.

Peace Walker already started the whole 'Snake doesn't talk much thing' by literally removing Codec altogether from gameplay, and making Snake's conversations entirely cutscene + tapes.

He's been in literally every game... what more does he deserve?

I don't see it happening. Although i do find it weird how much optional stuff we know and how little of the main storyline has been shown so far.

I'm really not sure what exactly prompts people to think this. I also don't get where people are saying there's a "void" in the plot or something. We know about as much as TPP as we had about 3, 4 and Peace Walker before they came out (they never really detail the plot of these games with any kind of depth, so I don't know where the assumption that they will for this one comes from).

I mean, anything could happen I guess, but considering how Kojima has never done anything remotely like MGS2 since MGS2, I think the odds are against something like that happening. Randomly playing as Ocelot is probably the least likeliest thing to happen, though. I could may see the whole Solid Snake at the end thing, although I hope it doesn't happen. I love Solid Snake and all, but I'm baffled that anyone who thinks a random time jump that completely derails the narrative to give a tacked-on half-assed MG remake is all that good an idea.

Yep.
Venom Snake is Gray Fox, Quiet is Chico, Big Boss is Saladin, Ishmael is Solidus, Eli is Liquid, Solid Snake is the final boss, and Raiden will be revealed as the biological son of Big Boss. BOOM!
Everything you thought you knew is wrong!

No. It'll be big boss all the way through. Thats just a fabricated rumor. I wouldn't mind playing as Solid Snake at the end of the game as an Intro to Metal gear.

When the game is released it will be revealed that Konami CEO was actually Kojima all along. The CEO is on stage showing MGSV, suddenly takes mask off and BOOM it's Kojima, yelling at the top of his lungs 'kept you waiting huh?!!!'

I can't remember, before MGS2 came out, They didn't show Raiden? just the boat part with snake? was he a 100% surprise or was there any hint or trailer that snake wasn't the main character?

Kojima is definitely gonna pull some special surprise in Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain. Troy Baker and Sutherland already hinted at it. I still believe a David Hayter voiced Solid Snake will make an appearance during a "years later" time jump of the game.
