Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

The pistol is the best gun in the game at what it does without a significant stat investment.

Yeah, but boy oh boy, does that
cannon
do some serious damage when it is leveled up later in the game. I actually carry the pistol and the one I mentioned. I have the healing gem in the pistol so it's always out in my left hand and just switch to the heavy damage one when I need it. That, with Ludwig in my right hand....bad ass!

Ok peeps so yesterday I beat
Rom. Tonitrus to the rescue.

So I got the message about the orange moon or whatever. Went to check on Iosefka and got a rune from our little Blue Man Group guy. Then she was laying on the table all writhing and yeah I ended her pain.

Then I went to Grand Cathedral, and Eileen was waiting inside (to kill me). After one try (after a bunch yesterday) she was TOAST. Used the Holy (skinny) blade for the first part, parrying and such, then switched to L1 version at the end and down she went.

2 questions.

1) Is there an enemy that takes your Insight? I didn't die to squidhead (on the way to Iosefka shortcut) but he hit me a couple times. But I had 25 insight, and after killing Eileen I now have 19. What the...

2) So with Rom dead, then Iosefka and Eileen, now what? I have 2 umbilical cords and Arianna is sitting in the Cathedral Ward feeling crappy. Do I just go to the Nightmare Frontier? Is that where the "rest" of the game begins?

Thanks!

Edit: TOP OF THE PAGE CONFESSION:
I still barely know how to parry. I got one visceral on
Eileen
and I swear it was by accident.

Go practice parrying on the giants in Central Yharnam. They have easily telegraphed attacks and all you have to do is shoot them once they bring their arm back to stagger them, it just takes practice to get the timing right. For the first couple hours of the game I practiced parrying a ton and it really helped. I beat Father G on my first try with like 5 visceral attacks.

I am 3/4ths of the way though the game but I just went back and completed the music box / girl quest.

So I am totally responsible for the death of that entire family huh? Yo Bloodborne, you so dark.

Kind of reminds me a lot about other Souls sidequests in a way. Best way to proceed is to not interfere as much as possible.

Yeah, I know of one. Its a giant sucker looking thing that grabs you and sucks the insight out of your head. Not sure if there are others.

As for parrying... it just takes practice. After playing all the Souls game (and playing DS1/2 a shitload) the parrying in this game is a lot easier, the timing windows are wider and you don't actually have to be right next to them to land it. Just keep practicing, you'll get it.

Is there a difficulty spike after
defeating rom
? I'm lvl 60ish, and I'm getting my ass kicked by
Eileen (at Grand Cathedral), the enemies outside Cainhurst, and not to mention the unseen village.
. Most of my points are in Vit, End and Str and alternating between Ludwig and Tonitrus, which has served me well for the last couple of bosses, but these new sections man....

Just came by to say that VIcar Amelia is a fucked up boss.

Did you beat her? If not, make sure you use
numbing mist to keep her from healing when she grabs her necklace.
That, plus butt hugging does wonders.

You are correct. It really does seem to ramp up after him. Remember how in the beginning of the game you took on enemies one at a time? Then, as you got more powerful you were able to take on two or three and pretty soon just kind of blow through them? Well, it's like a new beginning...

I beat Amelia today in my new game, but lol I messed up on my first try. I summoned 2 guys to do some jolly cooperation and Amelia wrecked me in 10 seconds.
I felt ashamed; I wasn't focused at all, derp.

what he says:

yeah it is know.
you can get the souls in a couple of areas.
got them in the clinic too once.
but didn't try if it would work again.

btw.: is bloodtinge any good?
will weapons get so strong, that they are usefull for more than just parries?

I just got the chikage & Evelyn.

Chikage + Evelyn + Bone Marrow Ash = Cheese city

Although the Chikage drains your health super fast, so you should only two hand it when you're in combat. Keep in mind that if you're not a Souls vet or if you haven't beaten the game a couple of times, the early game is very tough, you practically don't have anything that scales with Bloodtinge until you finish
Cainhurst Castle

Poor Eileen lying outside the cathedral. I will avenge you! Let's hunter drain all his life away. *Brush off dust gesture * Stab Eileen in the chest to end her pain. Love that questline.

Good deal. Should try that. I just end up spamming left trigger sometimes. hehe

That was it - squid head guy. He hit me twice as I was getting a little frisky with R1 and must have run out of stamina and he got a hold of me.

Thanks again

Do you need to complete the chalice dungeons to finish the game? What is the point of them?

You don't have to, but the pre-made dungeons contain a lot of lore stuff and the secret
Final Boss
, I'd at least recommend you to beat the pre-made chalice dungeons. Although the good loot can only be found in the root chalice dungeons.

Funniest note I've seen so far is in C
ainhurst Castle
. There's a ledge in the library area that's partially blocked by a bookshelf. Looks like you can squeeze through the opening, but nope.

The note nearby...
You must accept fatty

I don't understand what's happening. I am in the defiled chalice dungeon. I went back to the hunters dream to change around some equipment and now my health is constantly going down and won't stop. I unequipped all the stuff I changed but it's still happening.

Probably a cursed gem on your weapon that causes health drain, or you're two handing the
Chikage
.

Beat the game yesterday or I should say I made the credits roll. I didn't get the final, final boss for the "best ending". I'm really proud of myself for beating it. I hate hard games, easily frustrated, and hate creepy atmospheric games. Yet, I mentally prepared myself, and with the great help of this community, a few rings of the bell, and a few YT videos (damn you Rom!), I conquered the game. /patsselfonback

At this moment of time, I have no desire to replay the game in NG+. With that in mind, I did YT the other endings and I found the ending
where you actually don't even fight a last boss the most satisfying. I don't know why, it just felt like the best one.

Thanks again to this community with its timely answers and great discussion.

Damn i have enough to fully upgraded a weapon but i'm torn between the Tonitrus and Ludwig holy sword. Ludwig hits hard and can stagger enemies but it's so slow while the Tonitrus seems to have way more DPS damage overall with the buff on, too bad the Tonitrus breaks so easily, seems like a weapon oriented to bosses.

What's killing you?

My advice is to go slow and steady and before each phase transition (66%, 33%) charge up an R2 attack and then spam R1 to deal as much damage as possible and make the next phase shorter. Rom only has three attack cues, and they're all very slow, so make sure to keep an eye on him! For the barrage attack, I found dashing towards him to generally be effective.

During the third phase (< 33%), I had him low enough that I was able to ignore the baby s
piders
and just finish him off (carefully).

It's an endurance fight. Take it slow and be careful. I've also heard that he won't teleport while you're hitting him with the F
lamesprayer
, so if you are really having trouble then you can upgrade it, use some Bone Marrow Ash, and then use it to take him from 70%->0%.

I honestly have never been this pissed off at a boss before in my life. He is by far my most hated Souls boss ever.

I had him down to a sliver of health and I got cheap shot'd by a fucking spider. I had to muster up everything inside of me not to throw that controller through my TV.

It's those stupid ice attacks. I've read every strategy I can find and no matter what I do, no matter what direction I run in, he ALWAYS hits me with that shit. It doesn't help that the boss spams the fuck out of it.

Even if I summon help, which takes an hour to even find someone, the cooperator usually dies early on and ends up being useless.

This boss may be my breaking point for this game.

Just completed the game without looking up anything on the net. I decided to take a check what I missed and damn did I miss quite a few things.

Definitely need to NG+ this game some time.

I was buzzing from a few glasses of wine last night. I levelled up arcane to 17 for absolutely no reason. Remember thinking that Ienjoy playing with Tonitrus.. Now it seems it doesn't even seem to scale that well.

Guess I'll try out the Beast Roar...

Well I don't need bloodtinge if I use bone ash.

Is bloodtinge worth it without bone ash?
And I'm going for skill. So no canon.

Don't use lock-on unless you're just about to hit a spider or Rom.

Use the tonitrus, it wrecks both the spiders and Rom. If you don't have that, bolt paper on physical weapon works quite well.

Always keep the camera on Rom during the fight. When he rears up, the meteors are incoming. Start dodging as soon as he's done rearing up (three dodges are usually enough) and you shouldn't get hit. If he rolls on his back, get away from him, he's about to launch an AOE or "reverse meteor strike".

In between his meteors and AOE, if you see a clear path into ROM, run in and hit him in the flanks with a couple quick strikes and then get out before he AOEs or his spider buddies get too close.

I've beaten this fight about eight times now with two different characters, once you figure out his tells it's really pretty easy.

Haha, this made be lol. Sorry for the shame, I am sure they thought it was funny also.

I was summoned to help with a certain canine in a certain defiled chalice dungeon and died on his initial charge (5 seconds in) I messaged the guy saying that I lagged or something but no I was being an idiot.

There is something strange going on in my game. Not sure if it's actually a bug or intended.

I'm on my second playthrough with a new character and arrived at Hemwick Charnel Lane.
The old wenches there don't do the maniacal laugh you know from them. They're queaking with a high pitched voice now. They sound like the chipmunks.

Is this a bug or is it tied to something?

Sweet jesus, I finally beat
Martyr Logarius
. So frustrating. I got him down to about 5% health 5 times right as I ran out of bullets and/or vials and he'd get in a cheap shot and I'd die. Feels good to beat him, though :)

A
mygdala
giving me trouble. :/ My tactic for her first phase doesn't transfer over to her second so well.

Also how much Vit do I need to prevent being oneshotted.

So I beat
One Reborn, Micolash, and Mergo's Wet Nurse.
in a row. Feel so great man. Currently, I am fighting
Gehrman The First Hunter
and I feel like I am missing a lot of things. How many bosses are there in this game? I've killed
11
of them so far.

I fought him once and got wrecked. he can wait until I'm done with
ROM
. is there really any compelling reason to kill him other than bragging rights? I'm not interested in
the vileblood covenant
or the chikage.

There are 17 "normal" bosses and 13 chalice dungeon bosses

They are not required unless you want a trophy for defeating a certain boss.
They are great for finding useful gems and different versions of weapons.

Nope, but you can get some nice loot from them.

Thanks! I love loot. Gonna dig into them.
