Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

But is it just me or does the difficultly dramatically drop off in the 2nd half of the game?

During the first half I struggled pretty hard on
Father G, BSB, and Amelia
.

Granted I have not triggered the final fight yet but I've one-shot every single boss after
Rom
excluding
Ebrietas

I've heard about the memory leak that supposedly makes the game easier by disabling certain enemy attacks, but does this apply to bosses? I normally play for 2/3 hours at a time and then exit the game from the menu and put my system into rest mode. Could I still be susceptible to the leak if I'm not completely powering the console down?

Insight doesn't apply to bosses, normally.
And yeah, I also think the bosses are less difficult after the first ones you talked about. Well, excluding
Ebrietas, Logarius
and the final boss,
Gehrman
.

Are the servers down or something?

Yeah, it seems. I have the same problem.

It applies especially to bosses. But if you do exit the game and don't use suspend/resume, you should be in the clear. But yeah, you're right, once you get a good grasp on how the game plays and you get better, it feels much easier. I've one shotted a lot of bosses too (but I made the mistake of doing too many Chalice dungeons too early, so I was a little over leveled for a large chunck of the game)

It applies to bosses, yeah. It can make some bosses real pushovers. M

is a good example. He's actually pretty tough normally and has many different attacks. With the AI bug, he just does the same move over and over, which is really easily parried.

Videos of this happening can be seen here: Bugged Fight | How the fight should be

I'm still not entirely convinced it's a memory leak thing, I feel like the AI can just get locked in a state regardless. Like my first try at M
icolash
ended in total failure because he just spammed the magic attack, and didn't do anything else. I never played for long periods, and I always turn the console off fully after playing. Don't use the stand by mode much at all.

Got to vent. Was playing Ailing Loran Chalice I believe, the one with the
remake BSB
. Who I have to kill next. However, anyone brave the door path before
BSB
? Damn. Two werewolves in two rooms with two summoners constantly spawning spiders is insane. It takes about 5 hits to kill each spider with the cane (I should have grabbed the blood stone before this, cause I was +9) and two summoners can push 8+ spiders at once! Two hits from the spiders, you are probably done. And they can travel between the rooms. WTF. I spent a long ass time on this part, for minimal reward.

Strategy:
1. Kill two grunts in the first hallway
2. Quickly kill first werewolf cause the spiders are on their way.
3. Keep killing wave and wave until you can push to the next room.
4. Watching the floor trap, lure the 2nd werewolf out of his room. Kill him while trying to maintain the wave of spiders.
5. After he is dead, push forward into the werewolf room, killing the spider waves as they come. Push them as far back so you have a clear lane to the next room.
6. Sprint straight forward, jump two levels down, and quickly kill the further summoner before the spiders can get to you.
7. Run like a crazy back to the 2nd werewolf room. The spiders will be chasing so you might have to backtrack further.
8. Start killing the spider waves again and pushing forward back into the summoner room. There should be less spiders now since the one summoner is dead.
9. While things are pacified a bit, gain ground and kill the last summoner.

Alt strategy:
Do all the above except do item 6 before anything else. Then run all the way back to the starting lamp hallway as spiders will be chasing. This is actually what I did on the successful run cause I didn't want to waste time killing everything if I'll end up dead.

Anyone else take on this pain in the ass trek? I haven't screamed obscenities like that in a long ass time. Probably since Mega Man.

Sad to say but you'll see a few of those. If it's one of those chandelier rooms with the stairs on each side what you can do after killing the first wolf is run in and get some hits/kill one summoner and then do laps on the stairs with the spiders following single file and trying to kill the summoners along the way.

Don't backtrack with the spiders. You'll just have more to deal with.

Oh? Lol, I dunno. I heard it was not the case. Maybe I was wrong then.

(Wait, I'm confused. I thought we were talking about Insight effects, my bad, don't pay attention, I'm stupid)

You're talking about Insight, which makes regular enemies stronger by design. The memory leak thing is a unintended bug that makes most bosses easier than intended.

(I see you know that, but I'm clarifying for others that might be confused)

Yeah, I think I had that memory leak thingy when I was fighting M

. She used the same move and didn't even
clone herself
.

Yeah, but boy oh boy, does that
cannon
do some serious damage when it is leveled up later in the game. I actually carry the pistol and the one I mentioned. I have the healing gem in the pistol so it's always out in my left hand and just switch to the heavy damage one when I need it. That, with Ludwig in my right hand....bad ass!

Definitely gonna have to try a bloodtinge build for my next playthrough once I'm done with pure strength.

Hmm, okay. I definitely did not see the bugged version of that fight. He was flying all over the place in my game. But for
micolash
I genuinely thought something was wrong. The guy didn't even fight back! In the final room he literally was just trying to punch me.

I did that last night. Definitely tough. I'm a bit overleveled at like 107 and have a plus 10 Ludwigs so spiders went down easier for me. I just opened the door, died and went straight for the summoners and got past it after four attempts.

That's where I am right now in chalices, died twice and quit to proceed with the story in new game +. Definitely going to run for it.

yesterday after about 5 attempts. I didn't feel like it was particularly frustrating, but it still took time to learn her attacks. Good boss fight. :)

I enjoy the gameplay and I've played every instalment since Demon's Souls, but... When did we come to the conclusion that these games weren't cheap?

Yesterday I walked up to a closed door; giant invisible hand came out and killed me in one hit. No indication it was there, no danger signs, alot of progress and blood echoes lost.

I was also standing in front of where a lift should be, but it was ascended and so there was a hole in the floor. I looked down the hole and could clearly see the texture at the bottom indicating a floor. It was only a few metres deep. In previous Souls games, there are often secrets hidden in these areas. I jumped off, fell through the texture and died.

I also encountered an area in which there was 2 enemies up on 2 separate ledges firing at me, with 2 big enemies below them which I had to fight whilst being shot at. I found a way to kill on of the enemies that could shoot, but I looked for a long time and found no way to reach the other. How is that not cheap? Putting enemies in areas where they can snipe me from miles away but be unable to kill them myself?

WTF?

There's an ominous rushing air sound and a bright blue ball of light that appears long before that thing grabs you.

Also, you can reach and kill every enemy in the area that leads to that room, (including the two riflemen on the ledge) you just need to explore a bit more.

Same here. But I think the cloning mechanic might be a time-based thing.

Well, regardless of that attack, she does have more than one move.
She has a few different types of melee attacks. She can also just teleport.
So it's rather odd if she doesn't do those either.

Either way, even if you get the real fight with her (I did on both NG and NG+), I still think she's one of the easiest fights.
The cloning attack thing is only a minor inconvenience if you keep on the move and dodge attacks.

It gets worse unfortunately friend...cursed/fetid/rotted depth 5 chalices, pure insanity in some of those set ups, and the added benefit of you having half health! The
hex witch
may be an easy boss fight, but she gets used a bunch as a trash mob in 5th layer chalices (fetid/rotted) and they summon 3 adds at once and even if you manage to kill all 3 at one time, they can instantly resummon all 3 with one cast. Then add in there are some with 2 in one room, 6 adds at once, instantly re-summonable, the
hex witches
themselves can do a massive AOE, chain you in place and half of them are near trap doors on the ground. Throw in the usual Pthumerian elders, madmen, merciless watchers, rats, bell summon ladies, dogs, spiders in the most obnoxious set ups imaginable.../sigh

I'm venting a little too, but its a bit easier now that I've at least finished it. There was a lot of cursing done.

I'm just about to start this, I haven't played any of the soul's games, any tips, things I should know before I start? Is there a website/guide about on what I should be upgrading in terms of weapons etc?

The horror... That's pretty much what I did except I killed one summoner at a time with backtracking. There is like 8 thirsty spiders on my ass right after I kill the first one. I just don't have a tough enough skin to take shots from them in a crowd. Plus, they swarm like bees and stop your rolls. Ugh.

Glad I'm not alone. I think I was high 60s when I took them on. I also was +9 cane and feel with +10 I could take spiders down in 4 hits, not 5 (got blood stone last night). That extra hit wastes a lot of time. Took a lot of tries with that setup. Was super triumphant to clear it out though.

I have genuine fear reading this. GENUINE.

What are those
invisible
enemies in Chalice Dungeons? Do they drop anything good?

Only
invisible
enemies I have ever seen are the
all white women who are laughing/crying, wielding a dagger
. Don't remember them dropping anything significant. But maybe you are talking about something else.

Yes. You need to actually power down your PS4 and turn it back on. The memory leak does affect bosses.

I'm on the last secret boss, so excited first souls game to completion. Game glitched out and let me buy the
beast claw
before I found it in the chalice. I'm not complaining.

Finished!
with all 3 endings
It's going to be near impossible for any game to surpass this GOTY for me. And now time for a nice vacation. In the chalice dungeons.

Oh, beating
Micolash
was not only a really fun fight in my opinion, but also rewarded me with my 666th trophy. Fitting!

Currently on second run on the game and have 72 insight , does it affects enemy behavior/ deifficult , should I reduce insight and to what level?

Its one of the mysteries of the game. No one is sure, it could affect your loot drops and difficulty it could be something else as well.

Dont think theres anything that can be done but I haven't been following any guides or message boards particularly close during my play through and in the 11th hour has finally bit me in the ass.

I've only managed to find 2 of the 4 umbilical chords and I'm at the end of the game. It looks like I'm fucked. Any ideas beyond playing through the game a second time?

I think I'm almost done
house in the dream world is on fire
. Just running around trying to see what else I can find. I may just finish it up later today and start new game+ just in time for the strategy guide I should receive on Wednesday. Such an amazing ride.

Thanks , I will keep leveling it up , also have a lot of unnused madman skulls, currently on 3rd boss and do feel the game extra difficult.

Does anyone have advice for finding the Beast Claw in the Ailing Loran chalice dungeon? I need it for the Hunter's Essence trophy but I've yet to find it.

Aye the chalice dungeons are such a pain....

Did you get the one on the
abandoned workhouse, is closer to the catedral ward
, Its fast and easy to get.

I love the game, but can't shake of the feeling that I'm a bit underwhelmed by it.
Due to the lack of new weapons and armor upgrades (as in new, better items, not just reallocation of the same stat threshold), no unique rings and useless gems, there is a lack of progression and no real reward for exploring. I'm running around with the same weapon and armor combo since the start of the game. Halberd (never use the 1h version) and a mix of Yarham Hunter + Father G attire. I think I replaced my gloves/pants once for Carred Hunter, but that's about it.
The levels are are also not different enough for me to clearly remember them. In every Souls game so far, you could speak about "Blighttown" or "4-1" or "Iron Keep" and you could clearly think about the level and the boss fights. Speaking about "Old Yarnham", "Central Yarnham" or "Cathedral Ward" just draws a blank when I try to think about the "level". There are a few exceptions, like "
Forbidden Forest
" (easily one of the worst areas of all games combined btw) or
Castle Cainhurst
.
Not a single remarkable boss fight either so far. All the bosses I've fought: First try:
Father G (which I found first still being level 10, Cleric Beast, Vicar, Witch, Rom, Darkbeast, One Unborn, Amygadala
, 2nd try:
Logarius, Shadow
.
Only
Blood-Starved Beast
was able to take me 5 tries or so, before I skipped all the gimmick crap trying to oil him or parry him and just dashed through his attack behind him and went ham and I still don't like the fight really. Other bosses are unimaginably dumb designed, like
Witch
and
Shadow
, both easily among the worst "multiple bosses". Not hard, just dumb and/or lazy.
Amygadala
and
Unborn
do nothing once you cling to their legs / tail / body apart from stomping and jumping occasionally. :X
NPCs are also really uninteresting and forgettable.
I dunno, the first few hours were among the best of the franchise, almost on if not on the same the level of Dark Souls / Demon Souls goodness. Carefully clearing everything, unlocking shortcuts, becoming lost and walking into the 2nd boss fight unknowingly without ever having the chance to spend any souls etc. It took a slight nose dive after that I feel, since everything was just a repeat. Discovering
Hypogean Gaol
was a real highlight tho. Loved that.
There is just something bugging me about the game which drags down my enjoyment a bit. I'm still having a blast, don't get me wrong, but I feel it could have been something even better.

edit: Chalice dungeons are seriously underwhelming and boring too. I dunno if I can stand the grind to face the extra boss. So far the boss fights were utterly uninspired and as easy as it can get.

Fuck those chalice dungeons seems fucking hard and now i hear they have those types of enemies later on? From you are tearing me apart!

Lol, they aren't dangerous, the problem is that i never get to kill them because those little fuckers teleport/become invisible again too fast.

EDIT:

I think it's a bug. I've only seen it a couple times.

Yeah, that enemy design doesn't make sense, you can't even kill them.

Jesus. Ailing Loran.
These Zerg rushing spiders. I ran ahead figuring I'd eventually find the witch summoning them. ALL I FOUND WERE MORE SPIDERS.

Edit: no more pressure, just lost a 250k bloodstain lol.
