Destiny House of Wolves will Have no New Raid

As someone who still regularly plays the game, pretty much exclusively for the Crucible, and who has thought that the raids weren't particularly interesting, fun, or challenging, beyond the first time you play them, I'm actually quite excited by this. For me, the best part of the PvE has been the moment to moment combat situations with escalating enemies and not the giant boss fights or running from enemy segments you find in the raids.

They could design some great combat around this arena idea, and as someone who thought Firefight was great, in ODST especially, this could be the most fun PvE content in the game yet. If they can capture that modes' essence of challenge and add some fun modifiers to change up the variables of the mode, it could enable some serious replayability. I do think it would have been nice if they would have designed the mode for 3 to 6 players, and just scaled the challenge appropriately based on the player count, but I personally think the game is more fun playing with 3 people rather than 6. It's just more intimate I feel.

I'm still getting this pretty much exclusively for the PvP maps, gear, and guns though. People outraged at the $20 price tag almost assuredly never played Halo multiplayer I think. If there wasn't exclusive gear and greater odds at Exotic items, I actually wonder if people would play the raids ad nauseam 'for fun'.

this is the laziest ''expansion'' i've ever seen. i'm only gonna play it because i dumbly bought the pass, and after that i'm done with destiny.

i really don't see how a horde mode is better than a raid, the whole fucking game is a horde mode, the only different thing in the game are the raids and that's why i bought the pass.

lazy fucks.

Oh, good. I needed some extra room on my hard drive.

*deletes destiny*

Edit: ...and I already have the expansion. Bungie got extra $$$ outta me for free. I don't care. The raids are the most enjoyable parts for me. I have zero reason to go bac

I still can't believe Bungie is actually doing this.

Like... who gives two fucks about the story missions? Why would Bungie waste so much time on stuff like that instead of making a Raid. I mean, we went from 1 raid per expansion which already wasn't filled with content to no raids.

Wow. I'm actually impressed by how little value there is in this expansion and how stupid it is by Bungie. Actually impressed.

The real question is:

Will Destiny have the highest record breaking OTs in the history of OTs on GAF?

On one hand, a lot of the posts are people asking help for raids. This requires 6 people to play.

On the other hand, people still ask help for weeklies, nightfalls, and vanguard strikes. That only requires 3 people to play.

There are issues towards Bungie about raids lacking match making.

There are also issues towards Bungie for recently implementing match making to the weekly strikes.

Bungie can't please everyone.

People are still butthurt at the lack of promises yet their product is still reaching top 20 every month cause of word of mouth.

Tldr; the answer is yes.

The better question: "Who cares?"

As someone that bought their expansion pass, I'm calling it right now: anyone that buys Destiny 2 DLC before it's out is just wanting to get ripped off on purpose.

I'll consider the price of the Season Pass (via the Limited Edition) a fair price to not have to play this anymore.

I still feel like I got my money's worth out of the game, but you couldn't pay me to play any more Destiny.

Although I am disappointed in the news of no new raid, there seems like there is quite a bit of other content coming with this update. Like a new social area for one. Also we have no idea how the new coop mode works so maybe we should wait until the reveal video before we call it the same as the rest?

Lol wow. So, Bungie is 100% tone-deaf? Over the past few months most of what I've heard & read from the vast majority of Destiny vets is the fact that raids are pretty much the only worthwhile thing in the game after extended playtime. The Dark Below was considered by many to be a huge rip-off even with a new raid. I cant imagine how bad this "expansion" is going to be eviscerated. Unless I'm missing something or there is information we don't know yet, it seems pretty clear that Bungie doesn't really care all that much about what their customers actually want....

Well this gives me less incentive to come back

Same here. I was so ready to jump back in next month after taking a break from playing Destiny every day for months.

Without a new raid there is no reason for me to come back. The raids are pretty much the only reason I played the game as long as I did.

News at a 11, people are shitting on destiny, not surprised at all.

I am dissapointed there is no new raid but Im thinking this is a firefight type mode, I have high hopes for this expansion and I still they they can do a great job with it.

It's not going to change some peoples' minds but doesn't mean it's a bad game like some people here like to pretend it is.

I'll be buying Destiny 2 day one and probably the DLC because Destiny is one of my favorite games in years.

Man, that arena shit, better not be some Crucible ass stage, where we survive waves of enemies on some nightfall modifiers or something, cause that's just. smh.

Expectations just hit hella low right now.

If anyone wants more story at this point of Destiny's life... I don't know what to say to them.

That just sounds absurd. The story of Destiny is practically non-existant and favoring story missions over Raids and other end-game content is just stupid.

It is a good game, but you can't argue it has a serious lack of content and the DLC is a lot of reused assets and stuff that was already in the game.

That expansion pass will go down as one of the worst gaming purchases I've ever made.

Destiny itself will go down as one of the most disappointing gaming purchases that I have ever made. The gunplay was there, but everything else wasn't and it looks like both expansions were/are really light on content.

I played the core game thoroughly (and tried to get my money's worth from it) but I have not touched an expansion even though I have the pass itself. It's odd how excited I was for the game only to be this disappointed. Destiny pretty much only lived up to what I was expecting in gunplay, art, and music. The rest of the gameplay, worlds (exploration), collectables, and mission variety just wasn't there.

how is a new social area good content? the game needs a lot of other things before another place to just get bounties and see xur.

I want to like this game, I played it quite a bit and enjoyed the first DLC but I hate the fact they think this is acceptable.

This is a good post...I also now enjoy the gunplay in crucible (hoping for shotgun nerf / secondary ammo nerf to balance things as its gone too much shotgun)

The raids are fun for first few runs, I think VOG is the best raid, CROTA is just one big cheese just requiring a Gallahorn and co ordination but little gun play...I also just do them for the loot.

My raid team just saw the news and they are sorely disappointed. It's like if there's no PvE involving six people, we're more not likely not interested to play again.

Well, they said it will be coming later. So it's either in the Comet in which case they are price gouging us, or it's something delayed. I choose to interpret it as the implication that it will be a free addition at a later date. So yes.

The day post-Activision Bungie gives us something for free, especially those of us on XB1, I will truly be shocked. I read later in the year as being Comet for sure.

Yes and i've said that before, I still think the game is worthwhile and it does need more content. It seems like to me the majority of the people bitching is the same ones that haven't' put any time into the game. Maybe I am wrong but it seems like a reoccuring theme with destiny threads.

Bungie has some balls to call both of these DLCs "expansions".

Yeah this is really upsetting, and its 20$ each. Not even cheap. Crazy.

I don't understand this argument at all. Everyone who loves destiny brags about they have put in 100s of hours. This is like what I have noticed in every thread. Some post screenshots to justify their argument about how many hours they have put in. I have played all mission, ton of multiplayer and all the strikes and some patrol mission. So tell me this, do you expect people to keep repeating those stuff when you say " the same ones that haven't' put any time into the game"? The classes are not even that different that gives me initiative to play it again. Loot system is fucking flawed, with random generating code. Just why why would I keep playing same strikes and same mission over and over? there is NOTHING interesting in it.

Can't believe I bought the expansion pass.

I know it's not as bad, but the precedent for good dlc makes this FEEL worse than horse armor.

how is a new social area good content? the game needs a lot of other things before another place to just get bounties and see xur.
I wonder if the new social hub is going to be a carbon copy of the Tower or if there will be solid reasons to choose one destination instead of the other.

But then again it could suck to have some non-mission errands lead you to go to both the Reef *and* the Tower before heading back into the action.

I think it's worse than the horse armor. At least with the horse armor you knew it was just armor, but the expansion pass didn't exactly tell you what was going to be in each individual expansion (plus when Destiny was billed as something that was going to be huge, you would think an expansion would mean something significant as well). Oh, well. Buyer beware and all that.

I'm sick of seeing this crap, tbh. Such a ridiculous dismissal of legitimate arguments.

Care to point out this "majority" of people with no time put into Destiny who are complaining right now? Who are they?

I played long enough to clear all the strikes a few times each and mess around in multiplayer a bit the week it came out, then I sold it with the intention of buying a GOTY version that came with the expansions.

If that happened now I think the game still wouldn't have enough content to justify a $60 purchase.

At this point I wonder if they know they've fucked this one up and are holding the good stuff for the sequel.

I wonder what the acceptable hour cut off is until one can criticize this game.

On one hand, one of the chief complaints about raids without matchmaking is that it is incredibly difficult to organize a group, thereby shutting people out of end game content. End game content that only requires 3 people could be a welcome response to that.

On the other hand, with a game as anemic as Destiny, it's absolute unacceptable for a so called expansion to seemingly have so little content. Add to that the fact that Bungie has done nothing to inspire confidence in their handling of this series, and I feel sorry for all the people who bought the season pass.

you know they could have done both.

it'll probably just be a place for new factions and the bounties of this arena. hardly ''good content''.
