Destiny House of Wolves will Have no New Raid

Really should wait to see what this new content is before suggesting the game is done for, etc...

I gave up this game myself a couple of months ago simply because the content was too repetitive, for a game that is supposed to be something you play consitently it just doesn't have enough variety. This arena mode could be what we need more than a raid, it's not like CE is hugely compelling after the first few completions.

Except Bungie now have a track record for disappointment, so I really can't blame anyone for having no faith. They've had so much opportunity to turn things around, but every single decision they make seems to be working against the community, at least in the ways it's being presented.

I do wonder how much of this is within their control.

And is there any timed PS exclusive content this time? As an Xbox One gamer I'm still waiting for the other stuff to release. Fuck you, Bungie. I know it's easy to blame Activision, but they're not the ones making the game.
Yes but Activision is the one that makes the deals as a publisher

Typing in an lfg website doesn't show commitment, it shows utilizing the only available option for the vast majority of players. As a purely random lfg website user for all raiding, I'd bet big money there would be close to no difference in "quality" level if they implemented a tool in game. It's a totally hypothetical argument your making, and meanwhile it's a known fact that grouping with randoms is a major hassle in the game. Hypothetical problems vs. very real problems. The real ones should be addressed first, sorry.

Only 20% of Destiny players on PS4 have completed a raid according to the last time I looked at trophy stats. That's a terrible statistic for a content piece that's supposed to be the single unique pillar of the game.

I did mention an LFG system should be placed in Destiny to another poster, but agree with you otherwise

Very well put.

Destiny itself should have an in game LFG type thing at the very least as another example for folks who want to try the raid out.

.

Well now the only reason I had to go back to Destiny is gone. It is a shame because my group had a lot of fun playing Vault of Glass and Crotas End. Very dissapointed. Don't think I will buy any more DLC for this game, especially seeing as how "later this year" will have tons of big new games to play.

What an absolute fucking piss take! ABsolutely livid.

I felt like a mug for the greater part of playing this and the DLC. Now I just feel like I'm getting royally shafted and Bungie doesn't even have the courtesy to lube me up.

FFS man.

And this REALLY pissed me off:

"Our team has been humbled by the reception of Raids in Destiny and we are creating a new Raid for a release later this year"

So you were humbled by the reception of it and are now relegating it to the future which you will then doubtless make us pay?

I mean wtf? Bungie you had a fucking burden to offload, to prove to us that the absolutely paltry price/ original content ratio would be addressed. Instead you're just giving us a horde mode with 3 player support??

Are you being serious? Wtf have Activision done to you ffs.

Absolutely livid.

I understand that they will give a raid but later...Who gives a fuck for 3-player team arena ?
Game is already full of copy-paste 3-player missions...

Raid is the only reason why i play this game..If they do this then i want my money back for this DLC !

Awesome! Never liked the raids anyway, far too much effort to get a group, then play through for minimal rewards. Give me more single player content.

This all feels like stuff that was cut/unfinished from the original game and held for DLC. Just like TDB felt.

Still love it though...

... just when I thought they would pull me back in, I'm out.
Such a shame, enjoyed the VoG runs with you and the other guys in the group, always made for a good laugh... :)

I know a lot of people who were disappointed with the offerings from the Dark Below DLC and now going from that to this just seems like they are actively turning even more people away with their practices during a period when some big titles are arriving.

Hahahaha, fuck off Bungie!

Glad I didn't buy the expansion pass (only bought The Dark Below). After hundreds of hours put into this and a platinum trophy, I'm officially done with Destiny.

The irony in posts like these is thick.

Wonder if the new raid later this year will be next-gen only and they just couldn't do what they wanted to on PS3 and 360.

"I'm done with this stupid game! I've spent the last seven months at home playing it. My job stopped calling me to come in. My spouse left me. The cat won't even sit with me. BUT I'M DONE, BUNGIE!"

Don't forget the platinum trophy.

Some of the hate is a bit silly by those who put 300+ hours into this thing, but, the expectation was that there would be a raid in this expac. If it is a horde mode, that's nice, and I am fine with it....

....but this DLC is going to be shredded in like a day unless some new details emerge.

Biggest disappointment of a game for last year.

I'm so glad I didn't spend any extra money on DLC or passes.

I will not be buying the sequel to this game.

Screw bungie and screw Activision.

A new set of Fallen-inspired armor, I'm sure.

They've put me in a position where I literally can't buy Destiny 2 without feeling like a huge chump. What a bummer this game turned out to be.

So what if the 365 rated fatebringer is obtained thru a higher level VOG raid. Essentially a new level for VOG. Would this along with the other content satisfy people. Im hoping this is what we see, but man.

yea. It would be like telling them you like to bend over.

I will probably not care much about anything Bungie puts out from now on. Feel bad about getting so many people to play it. Hopefully they can manage to enjoy some of it. They kind of have to since they bought the pass.

They should have just called this a raid , they essentially play like horde modes with a few unique mechanics thrown in anyway, getting harder and harder and finishing with a boss .

On a side note, how stupid does the Trials Of Osiris armour look? Why the hell would it be ancient Egyptian themed but in the future? That's such a stupid idea and doesn't fit with the look of the game at all. Can't wait for the cowboy and samurai armour sets at this rate.

Never played Destiny, don't know what raids are. Could someone care to explain why is this a bad thing? I suppose something related to low quality content?

Still not seeing the irony...

Destiny has been presented as an mmo type game, something that requires daily investment. The issue isn't a lack of content exactly, more a lack of variety. The last DLC was light on content though, wiut hthe raid it included being considerably shorter than the original.

Raids are the current end game of Destiny. They're activities that require a 6 man team and good co-ordination. They're fun, and the only co-op content in the game that requires real team work. Easily the content that contains the game's best designs, the lack of a raid in the new DLC is worrying.

Arena could be great, but Bungie now have a track record for disappointing updates.

I am super excited to see what they've got cooking up. There may not be a new raid, but whatever we're getting is still being designed by the same developers. It doesn't have to have "raid" in the title to still be something awesome and fun.

Oh I see. But then why is is? What could be Bungie's rationale behind this?

I really enjoyed the game and spent a lot of hours playing it with friends, but the expansion pass was one of the worst videogame related purchase i ever made.
Most of the missions of the first dlc consisted just in a rearrangement of already seen enemies in already seen locations, the kind of content i'd expect as free. Only real new content was the raid, and that was glitchy as hell.
And now the new dlc wont even have a raid...
Will never buy a season pass again. Except Nintendo's.

Adding more raids is only useful for those that play them. Without matchmaking or some other form of in game grouping they would be servicing a very small group. They would be much better to abandon more raids and focus on other content. Imagine if COD or battlefield released a piece of content like a raid that most of there player base couldn't access as part of a season pass without resorting to third party web sites; its ridiculous when you think about it. Like if zombies had no matchmaking. Bungie is crazy in their thinking ; if they think raids as they currently stand helps them expand their player base

Well, at least the true Destiny players will remain after House of Wolves, and I am totally fine with that. I absolutely the game. I love the music, I love the atmosphere, I love the world of Destiny.

It sounds like a lot of people want to take their pitchforks to Bungie, but honesty, really? This is a MMOFPS. The first mainstream title in this genre. They are working with a brand new genre. The raids did not go as planned in the prior expansion and core game. So, they want to deliver content the right way.

So, they will work on making the best raid possible later this year, and deliver a new mode with HoW. They could have easily skipped on the new mode with HoW. But, they didn't.

Give Bungie a break. There are so many other games to play in the meanwhile, so put your pitchforks down - and besides, were you even still playing Destiny right now?

About the argument of spending money on an expansion.. how many times have you spent $60 on a whole game and was let down? It was just $35 ;)

Give this expansion a chance!

Oh I see. But then why is is? What could be Bungie's rationale behind this?

My guess is they are trying to add more variety to PvE end-game. Raids are amazing but require organizing a group, usually outside of the game, and committing a good chunk of time and stress to complete a goal. This will probably be a more "friendly" experience that more people will engage with at the end-game.

No new raid is a bummer, but the if the Arena is anything like Firefight in Halo it should be pretty fun. And it looks like HoW will have a lot more content than TDB.

What bothers me though is that the Arena is only 3 players. I have a really great 6 man group, and the main reason we still play every week is because all of us can do the raids together. With the 3 player limit we'd have to split up in 2 groups, and 2 parties if we want communicate efficiently.

lol, yeah. Even if they fixed all the issues with Destiny 2, I'd still hesitate to buy it out of principle. Will definitely wait for a price drop at least.

What's ironic about it?
That people are complaining being done with this "shitty game" after putting in hundreds of hours.

No raid blows but it's hilarious how a game you put hundreds of hours in sucks. Haven't had a game with that kinda longevity in a while.

Honestly their reasoning most likely is the raid wasn't gonna be done in time (remember how Crota seemed like a rushed raid?) AND despite GAF's "hardcore" bubble the majority of players have a hard time getting 6 players together with mic'd and runnin a raid.

And a firefight esque mode seems like a no brainier for Destiny.

So Destiny is over for this year...At least if i could get a refund for H.O.W. DLC...

At least they should give us more difficulty levels for VOG and CE...

Now, i never play VOG...No gain for my char on that raid anymore

I wanted a new raid. Vault of Glass was a fantastic gaming experience, but I've got pretty much everything out of it I wanted. Crota was a much poorer experience, but still enjoyable with friends or random GAF'ers, but again, aside from a couple of weapons I've got most of what I wanted/needed.

So another raid would have been nice. Horde mode, potentially fun but I get the sensation it will just be like everything we've already done in the game already - all those times I've fended off increasingly hard waves of badguys whilst Dinklebot does his thing.....its just going to be that all over again right?

Hopefully a few new, decent strikes will be included, and please for the love of Xur, some new bounties. And will be keen to see how they handle level cap increases for weapons, armour, light etc. Not interested in having to run the same old bounties over and over again.

I'm still interested in buying as I still enjoy the game with friends, but its not a 'must buy'.
