The allotted memory seems like a calibrated calculation and not the actual usage.
So the memory bar is a theoretical max then? Someone will probably figure out the best place to test out where the maximum graphics memory is used.

what exactly is the message you get? just curious
Runs very nice so far on my i5 4570 / 970 combo but two things:
- the fuck is up with the shadows. I turned them to very high and tried the AF trick (setting to none, save, then 16 again) but the still get sharp and blurry like 2 meters around me
- microstutters. I'm running a single card, so no SLI thingy. Also my Hz number is set to 60, since I read 59 could cause the issue, but it doesn't help a bit.
Any ideas?

After doing some comparisons with SweetFX, I unfortunately have to report that SMAA is not really a better alternative to FXAA. FXAA looks to have slightly better coverage, with SMAA's only advantage being it comes without the slight hit to sharpness.
Lumasharpen, on the other hand, looks very good, giving a pretty comparable effect to a moderate downsample that helps brings out a lot of objects and textures. The distant Los Santos skyline looks a lot nicer with it, especially.
So definitely get SweetFX loaded in there guys, but SMAA isn't necessarily the way to go. I'll be sticking to MSAA.
Driver-side vsync works really well in DX 11 too. I switched the in-game vsync off and on the control panel, I enabled adaptive vysnc with triple buffering off. Works perfectly. It's way better than the in-game vsync.
Is this done through the NVidia control panel?

I have an i5 4670k at 4.2 and an EVGA 970 FTW. I have just a couple of differences:
1080p
FXAA is my only AA
No reflection MSAA
Very High grass
High Detail Streaming While Flying off < may play with this one some more, during my initial benchmarks someting was halfing my fps when it showed a lot of landscapes.
It practically never moves from 59 fps (due to weird 59hz refresh rate, but whatever). I did DSR down from 1440 for a while, but I went for the frames rather than the image quality.
I'm glad I managed to pretty much lock in 60fps (well, 59 haha)![]()
yep, play it on a PS4Is there a reliable auto-optimization in the game I could use?
In Win 8.1 at least, you'll get a message that says "Windows is out of system memory, please close some applications. Windows will close : Grand Theft Auto V" or something like that.
Do you still get this with the page file enabled? I just had a look and it's been enabled for me all along, but still keep getting the issue.
Yep

Seems to be the case. It changes instantly to a predefined number as soon as they change a knob regardless of where in the game you are, so it's clearly an estimate. Not to mention that fact that it double counts when in 2xSLI.
I wish I could play on K&M, but the driving controls are awful.
I updated my GPU drivers as soon as the GTAV update went live, so I should be good.I was getting microstutters on a very very similar build, and realized my drivers weren't up to date. Double check that you're good. Shadows, I haven't noticed any issues.
Vsync on, internal solution. I'll try something external, maybe it helps. Are you running with V-sync on or off? And if it's off are you capping the framerate with an external program like Nvidia Inspector?
Mh, that's an idea, I'll try that if the above doesn't work.I was having the same 59Hz issue, which seemed to be giving me micro-stutter. I created a custom resolution in the Nvidia Panel with 1916 x 1076 at 60Hz and set the game to that. BOOM smooth as silk 60fps!
I'm getting micro stutters with Gsync. Let's hope Rockstar supports the game with future patches but so far so good.
Once I re-enabled my page file, I haven't had an issue since. I couldn't play for more than 5-10min prior. I put a solid 30min over lunch without problems.
I think someone was theorizing that it increases the area around the player where things spawn in, so it would be heavily CPU bound dealing with all that extra AI. Not sure if that's true, someone would have to test it.
There's no way to get a locked 60fps on busier parts on a 970 without disabling a lot of stuf, so I think I'll go with 30 fps + max eye candy.

Give Nvidia Inspector a shot. I'm using it, Vsync forced off, framerate capped at 59 (Inspector is weird about that), and I get a really smooth 60fps in-game (FRAPS reported). It's not 100% hitch free yet for me, but I'm still playing with the right settings to maximize the pretties.Vsync on, internal solution. I'll try something external, maybe it helps.
I am new to MFAA. Is there a performance hit when I add it to MSAA?
After my initial complaints yesterday, I am very happy with the performance. There are some settings that are meant for future hardware, but that is great actually.
Getting about 80fps avg with:
GTX970, 3770K, 16GB, AOC Gsync.
Drops down to 60 in the grassy areas.
Feels amazingly smooth, no stuttering.
One thing I noticed is that the sky sometimes seems to flicker a bit. I was curious and went back to the PS4 version. Same issue. Seems to be accentuated by the higher fps.
Using Nvidia soft shadows helps with this, but it's bad, I agree.

Aaaaaaaaand there it is. I'm happy I haven't bought this yet. With my 4690k at stock speeds I'm not sure I'd do phenomenally well, and if people are getting stutters with G-Sync, that screw it. I got G-Sync to smooth things out, this is supposed to be the ideal game for it. A game that can go higher and lower than 60 without causing issues.I'm getting micro stutters with Gsync. FXAA vs SMAACan we get some comparison screens?
Thanks
Yes, but it's very minor. You're basically getting twice the coverage for hardly any cost.I am new to MFAA. Is there a performance hit when I add it to MSAA?

Any ETA on beta AMD driver for GTA V ?
a friend of mine is getting some serious hitching when driving at high speeds. The game full on stops for split secconds like its struggling to load something. Any ideas?
Is he on an SSD? Might be textures streaming too slowly and the GPU not having enough Vram to load them fast enough.
Exactly. Rockstar hyped it up as the best PC port ever, but if I have all the parts and it's their end that lets me down then I'm not overly keen. Maybe if patches and drivers all come together I'll get it in a sale. I'm sure we'll all know about it if it does go on sale.Gsync can do nothing about game engine related stutters, it's not the same with framerate juddering. I'm playing at 1440p btw.
