Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

At around level 70~75, PvP in Nightmare Frontier was pretty lively, between invading and getting invaded, didn't have to wait more than 3 or so minutes for one or the other to happen.

Mensis is pretty bare so far at lvl 86.

Edit: finally got another, but he was sort of a dick lol

Is it advisable to max out an offensive stat? I am reading around, and it seems that after the first 25 stat points, the subsequent 25 points are only 70 percent effective.

I am a threaded cane user wondering if I should go all the way Wil skill points now or putting some into arcane. I am also wondering if I should put in some points into bloodtinge. I have seen some people wrecking havoc with only a pistol.

Sure, unless you want to put Arcane gems or use weapons withbetter Arcane scaling, you'll still gain a lot of damage going up to 50.

Can someone that understands the
Eileen
quest sequence help me out? I've read up on it and am just plain confused.

So I've been playing blind, but decided to make sure I wasn't missing any major missables that would cause me to have to do 5 playthroughs or something.

I have
talked to her at least once -- I have the first gesture she gives. I'm 99% sure that's the only time I talked to her. I have killed Rom. I just peeked into the cathedral and there is a hunter standing far in there.
I don't know where to look for her. i tried where i thought the wiki told me to look (near the cathedral).

Is that hunter her? according to the wiki:
"Also, it appears that if you never talk to her in the cathedral ward before she leaves, she seems to spawn at the grand cathedral lamp, after the Rom fight, as a hostile."

or is that Hendrik?

i don't want to go kill it if i'm supposed to do something with eileen first, but if it's eileen i should just kill her, right?

I think I'm also confused about the 'tomb of odeon' and the 'great cathedral'... are they different places? for some reason i thought they were the same, and i'm not sure which i should go to in order to hopefully find her

It is most likely Eileen inside the cathedral as a hostile hunter

after 25 gives less, but still a lot.

I think you'll may need more than 20 if you're using the big weapons, those still eat a lot of stamina transformed.

I don't care if it's 1oo or 120 but I don't see how 120 is too much. You're still going only to be able to cap 1 offensive stat, unless you gimp your health or end too much.

you can get 40 points in vit, end, str and skill at level 125.

if you cap end to 30, what should be enough here, you can get 45 in 1 offensive stat at 120.

imo, level 100 makes things way more interessting.
even in dark souls, there was a huge sl 100 pvp comunity.
wasn't 100 the "official" pvp level in the end anyways?

afaik 120 got decreased at some point.

Ok seriously, how are you supposed to beat the
three hunters in Yahargul
?

ludwig's holy blade.

beat them yesterday with the ritterpallasch.
way harder.
you can get the one on the stirs alone, if you sneak up on him from behind.
then the other 2.

Beat the Defiled Dungeon today.

I sort of hyped myself too much before attempting it after hearing all the horror stories. The Dungeon itself isn't hard at all... it's just the bosses you have to be careful of. You basically have to play extremely safe in the boss fights and not play greedy at all. Felt like playing Dark Souls again, don't know how to feel about that.

I did sort of cheese the last boss in that dungeon though mostly because I hate fighting against that boss in general.

thanks, so i should just go kill it for that badge?

EDIT - got impatient, yes, it was

so that means I don't get to meet
henryk? he's not in the tomb of odeon, at least. do i need anything from him for the platinum?

tomb of odeon is where you fight fahter gascoigne.
grand cathedral is where you fight vicar amilia.

the warp points are even named like that.

It is most likely Eileen inside the cathedral as a hostile hunter

she disappeard in my game.
I talked to her outside Oedon Chapel.
then sometime later she was gone.
nothing going on in the tomb.
will she be in the grand cathedral?

Have you killed rom yet? If not have you killed vicar yet?

I did Henryk in before vicar.

Almost done with the final dungeon. I have just question about the Chalice Dungeons instead... does the multiplayer here work the same was as in the story mode or coop is handled differently? Basically I want to know if you still need to ring a bell or if you die coop is cutted off. thx

Had a reasonably productive night. Took down M
icolash
in an interesting but not terribly challenging fight.

A
mygdala
went down on my second try. Still not sure I ever understood the boss attack patterns and openings, but got through it anyway.

Now I am in C
ainhurst Castle. Getting major Painted World vibes
. Sorta easy so far and maybe a little overleveled at 73, but it looks awesome and is so far fun.

Have you killed rom yet? If not have you killed vicar yet?

I did Henryk in before vicar.

I have now.

when she disappeared I only had killed CB, FG and BSB.
but I went to the forrest and chainhurst using the coffin skip.

I think going to the forrest triggers her leaving Odeon Chapel and you will miss her fighting the other hunter in the tomb.

Alright, I'm going through the game now picking up all the secrets and some of this shit is blowing my mind.

Huge spoilers regarding N
ightmare
of M
ensis
:

So I went back to NoM to grab the Blood Rock and get my final level for my weapon. As a result I ran through the Migo motherfuckers who scared the hell out of me and dropped the Giant Brain. But when I jumped down to where the Blood Rock was, I noticed that the walls and pit were covered in fucking eyes. And they weren't stabbed like all the spiders everywhere. Which made me curious if the spiders would turn into eyes and were stabbed to stop that shit from happening or the eyes hatched spiders or whatever cause that was way too similar.

Then when I read about going to find the Brain, it said if you do the Contact motion to it and just wait around, you'll eventually shift your arm position after like a minute and the Brain will give you a Rune! That's so wild! I get that the positioning might be a way to communicate with Great Ones so I really wonder if you can use the Contact pose for any other Great One fights, specifically Rom or Ebrietas who do not move til you attack them.

I'd put it in the lore thread but...eh. It really just blew my mind cause I just got done with it.

Edit: Also
WHY IS IT PITCH BLACK EVEN WITH THE TORCH WHERE ARE YOU AAAAGGGGHHHHHH

In 100 hours with the game, I finally got my first invader. I was level 140ish and after some introductory niceties (bowing, etc) he swung his sword at me. I sidestepped, and hit him with an overhead shot from Ludwigs. He was dead in one hit. Which is strange enough, but then, after the message that I had defeated my invader came up, I looked up and noticed I had nearly full Frenzy! Mind you, this was NOT an area of the game with enemies that induced frenzy. What the hell? Was that from something he did? I tried to message him, but he didn't respond, so I'm at a loss.

Wow thats wierd. Oddly enough, I got invaded 3 or 4 times in the nightmare mensis, right after the 2nd lamp. I never ever get invaded usually so that was surprising but I ended up owning all but 1 of them. They really didnt seem to know how to counter the blade of mercy, so I rekt them pretty easily, and the 1 guy who killed me had a Chikage and got me while I was fighting the 2 eyeball pigs :/

Sweet jebus... just watched this video.

Is the Cannon+Bone Marrow Ash this viable on more than this boss?

Yep, its a boss breaker basically and will probably get the nerf bat at some point. He could have gotten 4 shots out of it too by using blood bullets before he shot the first one, then every time after every shot. Bloodtinge + Bone marrow + Canon = OP.

Is it possible to actually have a conversation with
Master Willem
? I know you can get +2 insight by interacting with him, but can you get any dialogue out of him?

Cannon has D scaling on Bloodtinge when +10 so no need for it to do insane damage.

Ive heard of it doing 3000ish damage, so probably with more bloodtinge and +10? There are some funny Canon PVP videos on youtube lol

Yep, I did insane damage with the minimum just to try it out, so im sure people trying to maximize damage will go with more bloodtinge or if they want to wield a nice Chikage with it.

The cannon gets pretty useless in NG+, everything just has way too much HP.

So do Molotovs :/

Question, do you guys end up hard capping your STR or SKL when you get into NG+, NG++ territory? And does it still feel like a chore killing bosses?

Very weird, I thought you had to 'allow' people to invade you?

Nah you missed two steps. That's her in the cathedral and she's hostile. Gotta fight her now.

M
icolash
is among the ranks of biggest pushovers in this game. Took more damage being overly cautious than I probably would have if I was more gung-ho from the start.

Leaving off there for a while though since my insides are no longer feeling like they're being torn apart and the controller is just about kaput.

Only disappointment from today was not winning against an invasion in NoM. First guy wielding the wheel was pretty awesome. Went through the courtesies with the bowing/signals and even moved the fight away from the hot zone.

Second person just came in wailing when I tried to bow. I think for now on I'll stand by and if they look to rush then I'll go at them, rather than try to be courteous from the start.

Also tried doing the no heal thing....screw that. Unless both parties are in the know on that, doubtful anyone will abide by it. Even the first guy popped a vial or two.

Doubt that. The power of the cannon was well known among the tuning staff prior to the game's release. If it made it into release after several rounds of testing and noting its strength, it's probably gonna stay strong forever.

same, i got invaded first time at nightmare mensis.

Nightmare
areas have bellringers that bring in invaders. Just kill them and no more invasions.

hot damn.

Still waiting to find a proper outfit which isnt black.

How do you get that red one?

(SORRY FOR DOUBLE POST)

Just kill bunch enemies to be bloodred.

Don't remember actually.

I've just fully upgraded a weapon and haven't got the trophy. Anyone else had that?

edit: Strike that, I got it but it didn't show up on the screen. Weird.

Arrrrrgh. Rom the vacuous spider, why can’t I kill him! Driving me mental. And the bigger issue is those spiders and his annoying blue crystal attacks hit so hard they wipe off a load of health meaning I have to use at least 3-4 blood vials per fight which means I’m burning through my stocks super fast. I had 91 in storage when I first got to Rom, ended up with 18 which means I had to go and farm some echoes to buy more – for the first time ever.

Its another boss fight that on the face of it, seems fairly easy, but there is almost zero room for error. I just can’t get him down. I can get him to around a quarter health and then I die.

I’m using a +6 Tonitrus or a +6 Axe depending how I feel, I’m ignoring the spiders and rolling in to whack him and then away but I just get spammed by something every time, usually when I’m starting to think its going well.

Tried summoning help a few times but no one was found, so I’ve been bouncing off it alone.

Maybe I ought to go and have another crack at Paarl instead, come back to Rom another time? Maybe I’ll just go off and run around some areas I’ve already cleared for echoes and level up, then come back later.

Try killing all the spiders before attacking him
, makes him a whole lot easier.

Kill the first wave of
spiders
before focusing on
Rom
. Ignore those that spawn later.

Run in and get a hit or two during the next phase, then roll away. Go back in once you see a gap, rinse and repeat till dead. Don't get cocky and stay in there, or you'll be mobbed.

The
raining meteor
attack can be dodged through oblique rolls right before they come down. For the
meteor fountain
attack, you can hug the sides of
Rom
(not the head or tail since the ring meets there) or back off, depending on what opportunity is best.

I did him in 4 tries with the tonitrus.

Step 1. Go repair your tonitrus.

Step 2. Kill all his spiders first before you touch him. He does nothing before that. Use your other weapon.

Step 3. Charge your tonitrus, whail on the guy til he disappears. Use arianna's blood for maximum stamina recovery and extra dps.

Step 4. When rom reappears, stand a distance away from him. Wait for him to contort himself to do his magic attacks. Once you see him curl up, charge tonitrus, sprint into him zig-zagging a bit (to dodge most of the magic) (spiders will try to attack but usually miss because you're sprinting) hit him twice, run/roll away.

Step 5. Repeat til dead. DO NOT get greedy. Hit him twice and that's it. I got greedy on my third try and died with rom having a sliver left. The spider got me with vomit and rom flailed on me.
