Yesterday I have been killed at the hut in Hemwick and lost a lot of souls. Today I cleared the area but my souls are gone. There even was no enemy with them - what happend?

That may be a bug, it happened to me once. I left my bloodstain at a boss fight, quit, and went to bed. The next day the bloodstain was definitely gone when it shouldn't have been.

Just out of curiosity. What's your favorite boss battle in the game, Gaf?

I really like Mergo's Wet Nurse, but my favorite is Gascoigne, as it feels like a pvp duel.

Gascoigne is up there (particularly if you do the whole quest surrounding his daughters - man what a tragedy that stuff is), but I have a soft spot for Amelia and Mergo's Wet Nurse tbh.

It's likely a bug. I've seen it plenty of times now. Lost like 300k cause of this.

Thinking back, I think I got a glitched A
mygdala
boss fight. As my 1st time against her was really easy in main game. I just hit her head with my Ludwig's L2 attack to stunlock and visceral attack over and over. Never really got hit. Didn't do much to me or try to attack me much. So I def think I had a glitched boss fight.

The co-op fights against that boss was tougher and did all sorts of attacks I never saw. And Defiled version of course was completely destroying me and couldn't do what I did originally (granted, that was a tougher boss fight in general.)

I've actually read that that exact strat is pretty viable. I think it's even on the fextralife page for him. Not saying you're wrong, but the reach on that sword is perfect for hitting his squishiest spot.

We're talking about the battle itself, right? So cool designs and stories won't really count, right? Because I feel like Bloodborne has incredibly designed bosses and the story is amazing, probably my favorite out of any of the Souls games, but some fights are kinda disappointing, they have great designs and movesets, but should be a lot more challenging, especially in the second half.

If that's the case, then definitely
Martyr Logarius
. What an incredible fight <3

Amelia best girl <3

I was kinda disappointed the Doll's level up dialogue didn't live up to Shana-chan and the Maiden in Black, but Amelia's chants definitely made up for it, also some new Doll dialogue later on, and the fact that she responds to gestures. <3

LOL, I love the cannon in PvP. People see you pull it out and apply Bone Marrow Ash and they immediately go on the defensive. You don't need to even fire it to have an advantage.

Probably (Final boss spoilers)
Gehrman. Just an incredibly fast and intense fight; while you can parry him, it's much more difficult than parrying Gwyn, and learning to fight him without parrying is an incredible rush. He's a surprisingly fair boss despite his speed, since all his attacks have opportunities after them or between them to hit him back. Plus, when he powers up, he powers up. The insta-parry gun, the shockwaves, the teleporting, it really feels like shit got real. Then there's the AWESOME music and the beautiful battlefield and the emotional aspect of him betraying you and how he treats killing you as something for your own good.

Outside the final boss, I really enjoyed Father Gascoigne (Easily the best early boss in a Souls game), M
ergo's Wet Nurse
, E
brietas
, M
artyr
L
ogarius
, and the K
eeper of the Old Lords
. K
eeper of the Old Lords
I probably enjoyed a lot more because I didn't realize how easy she is to beat by just spamming R1 with a fast weapon. Every single one of her attacks two-shotted me and many one-shotted me, so I just learned to dodge everything. The time I got her, I only used a couple blood vials.

The bosses in Bloodborne really are incredible. I think they aced the Souls style boss in this game, with tons of bosses with unique mechanics and transformations through their fights. Demon's Souls probably has the most unique bosses in the series, but Bloodborne comes close to that level of creativity without relying on gimmicks. Even the easy bosses like the W
itch of Hemwick
have a lot of creative touches. Hell, even S
hadows
of Y
harnam
, a boss that's just a bunch of buffed common enemies, has some crazy unique things happen in the second half of the battle.

Yeah, the strategy is good and will likely stunlock it anyways of course. But my reasoning I think I got a glitched version was that I didn't even do that till like a minute or 2 into the fight and didn't do much to try to knock me out of being under her. In co-op with that boss, I was constantly being knocked away, and esp in Defiled version never could be under her.

Of course, the main game could just be easier in SP and I'm just over thinking and comparing to the much harder Defiled version.

Also, the boss fight music has a ton of variety in this game. M
ergo's Wet Nurse
beats Gwyn, Lord of Cinder as having the most unusual music for a Souls boss fight.

Yes god damn, anyone has any tips on this bastard?

Guess it depends on what you're having trouble with. In melee range he has a frontal blast and can send an exploding skull to your right. Given that try to stick to his right side (strafe left) when attacking. Same applies when he enchants his weapon. His melee attacks are slow so when he gets started you can jump back and stun him pretty easily for a visceral. When he does the multi-skull attack hop back a few before trying to dodge left or right; they come out fast but once they start tracking you they're easy to dodge. When he starts using his dive attacks, just get used to the timing and dodge.

So I just caught myself hiding when I got invaded because I had over 80k souls I wanted to use. I didn't want to risk losing it so I just hid in a tiny crevice behind a building until they left my world...haha.

So how do I prevent myself from getting greedy? Chalice Watchdog always kills me when the fight is about to be over.

Use a longer ranged weapon. In the defiled dungeon I was using my Cain in short form and towards the end he does his charge attack very quickly and I would be too close to him and would get trampled without having time to get away. Finally I started using the whip and it allowed me to keep my distance enough to not get run over towards the end of the fight. Throughout the fight I would always get out of his way but when he's about to die its a lot more difficult to dodge the charge attack so keeping your distance is a lot safer

I'm somewhat at a loss as to what to do with my character right now. I've been using threaded cane and my stats are:

Vit 40
End 30
Str 16 (just to try out some weapon earlier)
Skl 30
Bld 9
Arc 20 (again to try items)

Is it worth it to keep putting points into skill for extra damage or should I go with something like blood tinge for the rare occasion I use my gun (and be able to use Evelyn)?

Depends on what you want, I guess, for my Skill/Arcane Lvl 110 build I went with 38 VIT, 31 END, 50 Skill and 25 Arcane.

It's definitely worth it to keep leveling up your main damage stat up to 50, but if you want to use the Evelyn, and especially if you want to use the Chikage as well, leveling up Bloodtinge could be a great choice.

If you plan to use guns, absolutely go for Bloodtinge. You might want to get your Endurance up to 40 and leave it there at some point though.

I'm talking about how much you enjoyed it. Like, Gascoigne is not the most challenging battle, as every hunter after him was WAY more intense (those three hunters... damn), but the setting, the character, the quest and all that jazz makes Father G my favorite.

Is there any thread to vote/discuss what's the best boss in the series?

I have a Chalice dungeon question. For the ones you make yourself (story mode dungeons), is there a way to farm them for free, or do you have to have the ingredients each time and make them fresh after clearing? Just wondering as I understand there are some essential items you need to get from the Ailing Loren dungeon in order to create your defiled Pthumeru one.

Why eve? You have a high arcane, you can rock the two arcane flame/ros. Might as well just keep leveling ski or even arc since it doesn't reach it's next diminishing return until 50.

Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll go with some more skill/endurance for now.

Does anyone know if Empty Phantasm Shell scales with arcane or if the buff is constant once you can use it? I use that thing on every boss/hunter I fight.

Edit: it doesn't. Too bad.

Wow! I've tried about 10 times and even at level 80 with ludwig +9 I had difficulty beating her.

You can use a certain item at this alter from an npc's quest line to do a certain thing (sorry to be vague, don't wanna spoil it)

Spoilers below on the item and location. Click at own risk:

It's the queens flesh from castle cainhurst after Alfred smushes her ass. If you use it there she comes back to life.

Oh cool didn't even thibk of interacting with that lol

Recorded myself whooping her. Doing it two handed was a failure. I had +9 Ludwigs.

I did ailing loran (bastard of loran) and isz (red jelly) dungeon once and I had all I needed for the defiled pthumeru and Llhyl dungeons so I don't think you need to farm them over and over. Also always check the bath messengers for materials. Especially the insight one. You'll eventually be able to buy red jelly and living string

How does raising the agreed upon meta "break" PVP what am I missing??? The way I see it, in order to max a good fighting character for PVP the best way to get the right gem mix is to go through the chalices...even if you get a glyph you still need the right materials to get into the chalice in question, which in turn means beating some bosses in said chalices....those that can do it at low level are likely the last to need the extra help on their PVP character.

I really dont see a way other than to try to divide and conquer...even two on one with those dudes is goign to be pretty tough.

but how'd he get behind that hunter in the first place?
i can't seem to make it down the stairs to sneak up behind that guy without triggering all 3

I just hit-and-run all the way through.
Get rid of his planted sword in phase 2 a.s.a.p.

Here's a video of me beating the guy:

Cuttin' it a little close there, my friend! Nicely done, though. The second phase is much easier if you focus on parrying.

That's hilariously dumb, though limited ammo means that just dodging and being careful seems to counter it.

Well, given Blood bullets (+5 each time) and +4 extra bullets Runes. You essentially have 19 tries to parry in PvP. That is a good bit, even longer if you keep doing Blood Bullets. So limited, but not really. Still hilariously over powered either way. lol

I see what you mean. I still keep my vote, but yeah, there were many bosses that even though I thought they were quite enjoyable, I really wish they were a lot more difficult.

Jesus, I forgot about blood bullets.

Yeah, that shit needs a nerf.

Defiled Watchdog.
He killed me many, MANY times and it was frustrating. But each battle I learned a little bit more and adjusted my strategy.

By the time I did beat him it was so rewarding.

Kinda offtopic but why
do you think he betrayed you?

The way I understood it, he is genuine about saving you. If you look at the bad ending (without the cords) you end up being a tool of the Moon Presence, much like he is now. Killing you (so making you wake up and unable to dream again) saves you to reach his own fate.

Also, it's not like he is in the dream because he just want to. You can hear him randomly crying while sleeping, begging to someone to stop his dream,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYUKiUAlhUY

so he really knows his fate is fucked up, and don't want you to have to suffer the same. It would be easier for him to let you kill him and finally be free from the dream.

I loooved the Pthumerian Queen fight. It had the perfect dose of difficulty and new mechanics. After that it would probably be Logarius tied with Ge

, both fast-paced and epic.

I think he's protecting the hunter as well. The betrayal part might come from him not being open about it?

WOOHOO. After hitting almost every damn wall which looked suspicious in this game, i finally found my first illusory wall although it's in a chalice dungeon. Item was not so good (sage's wrist) but i'm happy that my persistance paid off.
Now i'm going to hit every wall in the chalice dungeons.

Yeah whenever that happens to me I instantly go into "oh shit oh shit oh shit" mode, haha.

Is there a reason you don't use the lock-on? Sick of getting screwed by the camera freaking out during boss fights I guess?

I found that against this particular boss fight, I do better dash-attacking, and playing with the unlocked camera allows me to maneuver my dash swings more accurately.

On top of which, I find the boss has poorer tracking with his moveset when fighting him unlocked, and his spells are much more easily avoided when I have full directional control of my dodge directions.

Have they ever nerfed anything for PvP in Souls?

I think I'll just play through N
ightmare
F
rontier
in Offline Mode to avoid PvP in this game lol
Tons. The Dark Woodgrain Ring in Dark Souls comes to mind; originally it let you flip when you were able to medium roll, which meant everyone was wearing it with heavy armor so they were invincible agile poise monsters.
