StreetPass Mii Plaza 4.0 Update Out Now (2 new games, hats, bubbles, and more)

Version 4.0 of the StreetPass Mii Plaza app is out now in every region.

You might have to update manually through the leftmost option on the app's menu.

The update includes two new games (Ultimate Angler and Battleground Z),
15
new hats, bubbles, and the Premium service.

Individual games are $4.99 / €4.99 / £4.49. A pack with both costs $7.99 / €7.99 / £7.19.

Via Ondore in Nintendo Downloads thread: $6.29 for games in Canada, $8.79 for the Thank-You bundle.

I'll be buying the games, but Premium is not the sort of stuff I'm interested in. Locking music player options behind a pay wall, a useless VIP room, customized speech bubbles and I guess useful for some, easy plaza tickets. Eeh, not for me. But definitely yes on the games. It'll give me a real reason to care about streetpassing again, as Toronto is a pretty good city for streetpasses. Easily 10 per day for me.
 
Am I correct in stating that these games are near worthless if you don't live in an area with many streetpasses? I seriously have gotten like 3 since launch day.
 
So, my brothers were both obsessed with getting every achievement possible in the first 4 games, even though we live in America where it's a lot more rare to naturally street pass with someone. They would go to McDonalds and other places on a regular basis, and shake the 3DS like crack addicts to get more coins. I personally can't justify spending gas to get 5-10 passes, but I did find the games fun at conventions and the like, so in I jump again...

If you regularly go to Wal-Mart, Barnes & Noble, or McDonald's, you can get Streetpass relays.

I was brute forcing through them with Play Coins, and it was quite enjoyable in some cases. The other option is the fake StreetPass Relay thing of course, if you don't mind specifics changing every other system update.
 
I have a quick question about these Miiverse games.

If I went out today and got ten people via Streetpass, can I use those ten people across all games, or can they only be used once?

I don't want to buy loads of games if I'm not going to be able to make any progress on them.

You need to use all 10 at once, then do it again. You dont have to play all the games. After you played the ones you want, just go back and collect new people. You will get prompted to either use your existing ones, or update with new people.

Might work well for them, since I almost bought it before I read what it actually does.

Might get it eventually though, since I am pretty close to Disney World and that's an easy place to fill up on passes...
 
Considering the quality of the other 4 games, I have to say this is a Day One for me when I get home.

Unless someone can PM how to use my work wifi on my 3DS (it is username/password protected, not just password).

I just watched the video.

The birthdays function like the world map so you fill up a calendar as you get Mii's with different bdays and get plaza tickets (wish they had done this for the maps too...)

VIP room is for "keeping" Miis you see a lot or Miis of friends (I do not see the actual functionality of this? Easier access than scrolling up?)

The BGM music upgrade interested me if only because it says it lets you play streetpass music while the 3DS is in sleep mode. I don't actually want to do that but I am just surprised they aded the ability to.

And then the final feature allows you to shorten/skip greetings entirely and shuffle Streepasses in asap.

These pretty much all feel like the kind of thing that I wish they would just put in from free or something, or at least with a game/the Ambassador program or something. Having to pay for that feels dirty so i don't think i will (even if I would love all those plaza tickets from the calendar :( )
 
What are the medals on the old games for? I have one over all of them but the ghost one. I know I've gotten all the tickets in Warrior's Way and Flower Town, but I don't know why I have a medal for the space game. Maybe because I beat the final boss?

Ultimate Angler is like Flower Garden, but instead of seeds you get lures from other people. It is ok.
Battleground Z is really good. It is structured like Mii Force, but pretty easy to play with only 1 other Mii.

I had 8 people going through games with ten at the gate but I updated so I could use them for the new games but when I did they all disappeared and I went straight to the gate. I even asked in the other thread about it. I saw no warning.

At least I did Mii Puzzle at least.

Fuck.
 
I didn't plan to buy the fishing game but changed my mind in the very last second. So far I'm liking it quite a bit more than the zombies one and I can see myself playing it for a longer time.

speaking of maps, i noticed they still haven't bothered with putting up actual maps of countries they keep track of. have they ever given a reason why so many countries don't matter?

I'm kind of pissed off now. I bought the premium thing so I could save some of the street passes I have that I don't want deleted (like Hideki Kamiya and Ryan Davis) but apparently if a mii is too old or something you can't add them. Once I get about ten months back in my plaza the option to add to the vip room disappears. This is idiotic for something based around saving old streetpasses from deletion. I feel pretty ripped off.
 
Are they seriously charging for those "features"? Those should be free upgrades.

Also I'm still waiting for a feature that lets you share multiple games, not just the last one you played, with the people you Streetpass.

Are you sure it is 10 months and not >1000? After a plaza exceeds 1000 oldest Miis become demoted to met by invitation and after 3000 the oldest met by invitation ones get deleted. Special Miis just get deleted at the point they would be demoted because fuck you (I'm European so nearly all my special miis are basically dead now).

I can't see you able to save met by invitation because you can also get those from games (e.g. Mario Kart) if you turn the option on and they don't have data for the plaza games associated with them (most their profile is destroyed really).

You can still send met by invitation ones to the Mii Maker though (which is what I did with the special Miis that were not killed). The VIP room is more useful for the games though (my level 7 blue Miis have been near the 1000 cut-off a few times but I'm vigilant in deleting older Miis from my plaza...if I still cared about StreetPass quest the VIP room would be useful as deletion is more time consuming that it needs to be).
 
So playing a level in Mii Force you can now skip those dialogue scenes with the B button. This is honestly great considering how much I hammer the a button through those. Hopefully the fixed Mendel constantly repeating stuff as well.

I don't know why you can't add birthdays of the Mii's already in the plaza? The data's there. Otherwise I doubt anyone is going to finish those calendars without years of cons.
 
Really, really loving the new fishing game. They took the best aspects of the best games and made a great game. Zombie one is okay, but I don't like horde/wave games. Also the new Game Vault is cool.

I finally got rid of Mii Force. I hate Mii Force.

Because from what I can gather, you get a Plaza Ticket for each birthday slot you fill, so doing that would give you a considerable chunk of tickets up front!
 
My favourite weapon in StreetPass Zombie so far is the one when someone has the hobby “travel”. It’s a roller luggage you beat the shit out of things with, but the special power is to summon a bus that the zombies all get on, and then it drives into a black hole.
 
Ultimate Angler is basically Flower Town, but with fishing & a bit more gameplay. You can upgrade rods & combine them, but you have to be careful since there's a limit as to how many times you can do so. I think I'm gonna enjoy this one.

Battleground Z seems alright. The medals for each stage (beat in #:## time, get a # combo, etc.) seem like a decent way to encourage replay value, but I just hope it doesn't end up like Mii Force where I liked it, but then had no motivation to go back & do the post-game stuff and get the remaining collectibles. Doesn't help there's mention of a "rare zombie".

Also was nice to discover the "Thank-You Bundle", even if it was just a dollar discount.
 
Downloading now :) we're big street pass fans here. Monster Manor is my favorite from the last batch, let's see how these two new ones fare...

Not wholly convinced on the vip thing yet however.

Same thing happened to me except I had a full 10. Would gladly pay for VIP if they boosted the Street Pass limit. I did anyway.

Seriously? Ugh, I was considering buying it just for that reason and saving all the Nintendo execs I've streetpassed at E3. If I can't do that I may as well not even bother. Dammit.
 
Just picked up the zombi & fishing games, said that because i owned all the other streetpass games i could get the pack of new games for £6.29.

I picked up the Premium pack as well.

Also picked up the Ninja Mii outfit, looks very cool.
