Ironically enough Sasuke was the scrappy young guy who made it for himself. Not naruto, naruto had all that jesus crap inside him already. Sasuke, is just a dude.

Sasuke pouted the majority of the story and got unearned powerups. And when informed on how he was an asshole just doubled down. It is a major flaw in the story he never gets his comeuppance.

Honestly, this is the most hopeful time in the franchise for a while though. The Naruto manga has been garbage for the past, I dunno, 5 years? Well it's been a while.
I don't know exactly how long this part 3 stuff is going to last, but this is a chance to kind of start fresh and leave all of the other BS far back in the past. I don't see this as a GT situation at all. Naruto already ended at a terrible note (I actually like the ending itself, just not the buildup to it) so this part 3 stuff has a good chance at being better.
I'm not just talking about this movie. I feel like the movie will fall in line with quality as the rest of the Naruto movies, although this should be fun to watch for me at least since I want to see stuff with the new generation. Mainly i'm talking about the part 3 miniseries that may or may not continue to go on for a while.

He earned his power ups more than Naruto at least. He put in hard work and had a lot of battle experience to help develop his powers. I never felt like he had a huge jarring jump really, not compared to Naruto at least with his
shadow clone hack, Sage Mode training (that he used the shadow clone hack to attain extra quick and gave him like 10 times the competency than he had previously), fighting the nine tails made him mini jesus, and making friends with him made him jesus jesus.

OT but one of the biggest missed opportunities was not having Jiraiya come back with the Edo Tensei to meet with Minato and Naruto.

Which story did you read again? The ending was a bit of rushed crap but I think throughout the story the powerups were placed quite well.
And he did have to earn a bit of his powerups if I recall correctly.
There's a "part 3" coming.

I do wish this continuation focused on Naruto and Hinata's daughter or something as a change of pace.
At least, I hope that Boruto doesn't use shadow clones and has a fighting style closer to Hinata.

Sasuke I feel is kind of supposed to be hated, at certain points at least, but I can't see why people say he's a terribly written character. His character development makes sense for the majority of it, and he probably has the most development in the series.
The part that stands out to me that didn't make sense in his character development was his abrupt "Psycho Sasuke" stage, that everyone seems to like (including me), but it didn't really make much sense.

IDK. Minato's speech at the end was pretty good.
I'm imagining "Check out what my dad taught me! RASENGAN!!!!"
Or if Sasuke is his mentor "Check out what Uchiha Sensei taught me, CHIDORI!!!!"
It seems Kishi was really conflicted if he wanted him to go full dark side

Yeah I can't defend Sasuke. Hell for 90% of the manga I hated his dumb ass.
Though to Kishi's credit, I get the feeling that was the whole point.

I'm more surprised Sasuke did'nt name his kid after Itachi. Also tbh Jiraiya was cool and all, but I could never get over how he ignored the kid for 12 years of his life.
