Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Official Teaser Trailer #2

I'm guessing the "running" one is CG.

First teaser must have been CGI. ;D

My guess is that it's a mix of CG and not in the movie. The actual BB 8 may not be able to move that fast.

They gave an official statement months ago that the shot from the first reveal was a real practical effect shot and that they had actually built the droid.

I'm not sure why people are so surprised, it's nothing that can't find in college engineering departments.

I'm curious what the context of the "Chewie... we're home." line comes from. It seems as if Han has been separated from the Falcon for some time, judging by how somber the line is delivered. Chewie also has his crossbow raised, which makes me wonder if the Falcon is being commandeered.

I thought maybe Han and Chewie went back to the Mos Eisley Cantina, or some other seedy place that they frequented in the past.

In my defense, I was being self ironic... I feel that BB's head tilting around gives so much more personality to the droid.

how does ball move when head stays on?

CGI

I gotta wonder what people will do if this ends up sucking. I'm confident it won't be terrible but if it is...after suffering through the prequels, I'm afraid the fan base would implode.

Loved it for the most part. I dislike the fast zoom effect I spotted near the end hopefully there isn't going to be too much used for the flight battles.

kind of hinky but I like it better than a cut there; I wouldn't mind that as a technique throughout the film, I like a stationary camera in action scenes

Also the "Chewie we're home line" felt really cheesy like some SNL skit.

clearly the right tone, people all over the place eating it up an cryin' and shit

If it is, we still got Rian Johnson directing the sequel and the spin-offs.

It's really cool that BB-8 is real, but what I'm wondering is what does it do? Like R2 has all those arms and gadgets, but I can't see BB-8 performing any function.

Ya know what I like? After all these years Luke is still not rocking the Jedi robes. Sure he's got the cloak but he's wearing something new and interesting under there and I appreciate that. I had enough Jedi robes for a life time. :X

I can't wait!

I wouldn't go that far, but sure. I'm mostly interested in seeing more of Rey, Finn and Poe; at least there was a decent amount of them in the trailer. The Luke-narration was great, until I realized and learned it was just a ROTJ-line edited to make him sound older. That's when I stop liking these things, the rehashing. The short clip of Han with Chewy was nice, because it tickled the nostalgia bones while being new content as well.

But I have a good feeling it's mostly for the trailers they're doing these slightly too blatant references. If I'm lucky the film will have that adventurous and special Star Wars-feel. But it will do so with set eyes on the future and with new ideas that don't clash with what we've seen in the SW-universe, but instead just makes it feel fresh and exciting again. That's what I care about.

The Force Awakens exhibit looks cool as hell! Kylo's lightsaber hilt looks so dingy looking though, like it was roughly constructed.

Love his face mask though and the extra detail.

In early production for the prequels, Luke's black outfit in RotJ was the Jedi uniform. So in a previous vision for the universe, he was wearing them.

Later they decided Ben Kenobi's hermit robe was the jedi uniform (great disguise Ben!)

In the part where they hand over the lightaber, the one receiving it is Leia, right? I mean, it's when Luke says "my sister has it", and the other parts match with what's being spoken. Also, the persn/being handing it over is kneeling down (I think).

Well everybody else on Tatooine was apparently wearing Jedi robes too, so you can't blame him.

The First Order sounds fascist enough

I'm not sure why they would be calling themselves the resistance 30 years later unless they are losing the war

Certainly possible. The Empire still had a vast advantage over the Rebel Alliance in terms of resources and personnel across the galaxy even after the destruction of the second Death Star. The conventional thinking has always been that losing the Emperor and Vader at the same time would leave too much of a power void for that armada to collectively function and the whole thing would largely fall apart.

I guess in Abrams and Kasdan's idea of the immediate aftermath of Jedi, someone or something was able to maintain relative central power in the Empire and keep it from disintegrating. Still I'm sure that the RESISTANCE has made gains over the 30 year gap and they are on more equal footing power wise with the FIRST ORDER.

I think it's possibly a flashback of Leia when she is young and the person handing it over looks like an alien.
