My son is also named Bort

wtf Sasuke is Boruto's mentor. Is he gonna tell Boruto how many times he tried to kill his dad?

let's see, there was the time on the rooftop.

The first time at the valley of the ends.

There was that time at orochimaru's hideout kinda.

He was going to head to the leaf to kill naruto before pain chose to go himself.

There was that time at the waterfall.

There was that second time at the end of the series.

I guess ~6 times or so?

Cant wait to actually get to see how this turns out, that goes for this movie and the part 3 of the manga this month. Strangely enough I was never very fond of Sasuke but I'm very interested in Sarada and her development.

What's the deal behind Boruto having special eyes and the significance of Kishi forgetting them? I gave up following Naruto lore around midway through part 2.

The Byakugan? The signature trait of the hyuuga clan? One of the three great dojutsu?

Only way Kishi can get away with forgetting or not giving Himawari/Boruto Byakugan is if he retcons the whole situation and makes it some sort of a awakening kind of power like the Sharingan at a certain age.

By the end of the manga, Kishi had literally retconned his own retcons. What's another?

That post had almost nothing to do with world building and was more of a sloppy rant on the overarching plot.

Is there someone else you could quote that might be more relevant?

Look, I'm not going to get into this too much, because after a certain point, I stopped reading naruto, and I only know the broad strokes of it. I'll reread it and eviscerate it at some point, but today is not that day. I just did it as a favor who wanted to my take on it.

However, if you are going to inanely dismiss what I've written without actually addressing the points, atleast do it right. Because, you know, just saying something is a sloppy post doesn't say anything about what it's trying to point out and how it's wrong. I don't think I'm wrong in that the flashbacks weren't particularly insightful or that the series betrayed it's old themes by trying to make everything about destiny or that the idea that these two clans were exclusively the most influential throughout all points of his history makes for believable backstory. But fine, if dismiss these points as sloppy, it makes dismissing your post that much easier since there is nothing of substance in it.

But if you're going to do that, atleast get the terminology right. What I am broadly describing is backstory, not plot. Plot is events that happen through the narrative. Flashbacks are events that happen before the narrative. Backstory is the collection of information you get from flashbacks on character, which in this case comprise the series fictional culture and history of Konoha. We were witnessing the time, circumstance, and belief system that founded that particular government state. That, I am pretty fucking sure my good fellow gaffer, makes it part of the worldbuilding club. We saw part of the world, and it's build. Worldbuilding.

kay? kay.

when Naruto and Sasuke's blood mixed on the ground at their final battle, Asura and Indra's souls intersected or something and stuff and then passed on their traits backwards into time to make a divergent timeline in which Naruto has the Sharingan because he's actually Indra reincarnation now, not Asuma so when he bangs Hinata their combined genes create a new Kaguya; Burrito Boruto is Kaguya's reincarnation and has all the super cool, badass powers BOOM, POW, RED EYES R AWESOME and this will be explained in a super long retcon flashback that shows the First Hokage (who is now Madara) and Madara (who is now the first Hokage) because they swapped reincarnations due to the timeline shift created by Naruto and Sasuke's battle which actually didn't happen because it blasted itself out of existence.

It would make sense if you actually read the manga

I have high hopes for this film. Being directed by a really good animator as well.

We all know its going to Sarada vs Bolt in the Chunin exams.

Team Salad.

Regarding power scaling: Certain characters became powerful enough to obliterate entire nations, without much effort.

If you consider that characters near the beginning of Dragon Ball were capable of blowing up the moon, Naruto's power scaling doesn't really look any better when you consider how they started off.

It was just before that point, when Sasuke awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan, that Kishimoto's long time editor had left and was switched with another. Talks about where to take Sasuke's character were going on at this time too.
The manga was over 700 chapters and multiple years. When we've known characters like Naruto has had village destroying power within him since the first chapter, it would only make sense that he would be able to use it and have to fight similarly strong(something something 8 other tailed beasts) by the series end. If anything, its crazy how long it took him to finally control the kyubbi.

here a post explain more of why Naruto world building is poor in better words then I could express, done by Veelk:

To me if you want a manga with good world building (heck overall better) look at One Piece, Toriko or Hunter x Hunter.

Especially Hunter x Hunter, Kishi took alot from HxH in early Naruto.
Ehh what the hell is this guy talking about? I can't say I agree with much anything he wrote.

Why do you guys believe that Bolt and Himawari would even inherit the Byakugan? Is that 100% kekkai genkai inheritance?
Idk why considering they are not hyuga.

yeah stopped reading in the first sentence. Firstly hard work is valued in the series. Sakura becomes the strongest kunoichi despite coming from an ordinary family. Might Gai wrecks one of the strongest character's in the Narutoverse through hard work alone.

Anywya thats besides the point. The theme Naruto was trying to convey was perseverance. Never give up.

Well maybe you should try to keep reading more often because you obviously missed a lot of themes of the series.

Or he could make it simpler on himself: because they're mixed bloodlines, they can activate it but they just don't have the weird white pupils.

What's interesting is how people pick and choose with Boruto/Bolt and Sarada/Salad to choose the most stupid sounding versions of the names. People moaning about the Japanese Boruto and at the same time moaning about the English Salad. If you're going to mix up translations why not go the other way? Bolt and Sarada sound fine.

Am I on the same planet where beloved popular characters named Piccolo and Monkey D Luffy exist, but Bolt sounds stupid?

Yes, because those always fit within the universe that they were introduced in. Bolt is completely out of place and stupid. Boruto just sounds dumb.

IMO of course

Well you may be able to argue that Bolt isn't completely out of place, but it still stands out as a bad sounding name for a Naruto character, so nothing is going to change that.

Give it Time. I mean people are comfortable with a Guy named....Guy. Considering this, Blot isn't a bad Name.

Also people should stop trying to "westernize" the Names. The Names have Japanese Origins, so we should look at them like this. This may sound like a silly excuse, but i think that this is valid for Names

His name is weird too, but at least he was a side character (and a goofy one at that)

I don't need my main character plagued with this kind of questionable nomenclature, lol

Well who would consider the strongest? Kaguya is..... Sakura achieved Tsunade's feats at a far younger age.

Yeah I always believed that Sakura got stronger than Tsunade sometime in the war arc. At the very least, she was definitely on the path to get there.

they had character named after alphabet, A, Bee, C, Jay. I'm fine with Bolt, although I do need to have some time to process Boruto. didn't sound as cool as Bolt in english

Boruto is fine if you got used to Naruto lol

I don't think it will be Bolt and Salad. We didn't call Neji screw did we...

Naruto was always fine. Never had a problem with that. Boruto literally sounds like an intentionally dumb fanmade parody.

I'm not sure exactly what they will be called in English. I've been seeing Bolt so much that I'm just going to expect that.

A tonne of Naruto character names have meanings but we don;t refer to them like that do we? We don't call Kiba --> Fang , we don't call Ino --> Boar etc so I don't see Boruto being called Bolt and Sarada being called Salad.

How exactly is Pink Girl the "strongest kunoichi"?

What exactly has she done to make you think that? Where was this stated? (New DataBook or some jive?)
Exactly. Sakura is only the strongest by proxy of how weak Kishi made his female characters. Sakura has nothing special about her. She's just a less effective failure version of Tsunade.
