Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

I had the old Rock Band disc content on my RB3 plus about $30 in DLC songs. On the 360. Which I sold a while ago.

Now I have a PS4. Is it worth it to buy the X1 to get my old content back? or just get the PS4 version and start fresh?

Choices.

Time to go fetch all of my plastic instruments out of the dump.
My guitars are covered in dust in the corner of my living room and my drums are actually downstairs in the basement. Long story short, we have paper thin walls where I live and neighbors who love to bitch, piss and moan about the slightest noise.

As long as they give me a way to get all of my RB2/3 DLC into 4, I'll be happy. I mean not so much about the long-ass download of it all, but being able to use it.

For only $30 worth of DLC? That's a tiny loss if you no longer have instruments.

The money you save by NOT buying an Xbox One could be a hundred more songs on PS4.

Received an amazing Rock Band 4 poster at Major Nelson's Podcast during PAX East. Thing is like, legit material haha.

Dug out my old equipment after the announcement...I'm ready

Yeah just start over. Unless you want an Xbox One for something other than RB4. But other than that, it's not worth it.

i still have a mint in box Lennon Rickenbacker i got for $10 when RB was going out of fashion from TRU. played with it maybe 5 times or so? i just use the old clunkers we have laying around instead to keep the thing fresh. the Beatles instruments actually held up really well to a lot of use.

cant wait to buy a new deluxe bundle though. definitely want some new instruments for RB4.

quick question: will the Rock band 1 export ever expire? I'd always go over to friends or families to play Rock Band, but now I'm planning on picking up RB3 on the XBL market place in the next little while, and I'm wondering if I should find a copy of RB1 to export sooner rather than later.

Expire? Not sure.

It's possible the disc exports may lose the license due to how many different artists are involved.

But I doubt the price will decrease any much.

That said, just get all the exports you can ASAP, because you'll regret it otherwise. It's easy enough to buy DLC before it goes down, but scrambling to get a game with a working export code can be a hassle. And once the code is tied to your account, you're safe.

Thanks. Looks like exporting Rock Band 1 into 3 doesn't require a code, so I should be good there (unless you need the code from RB2?). Must be such a pain for Harmonix to deal with all the licensing across all these games.

I just repurchased Lego Rock Band for Xbox 360. I had it before and exported it, and this used copy i just bought has a export code in it, but I don't know if it has been used before. So I'll give the code to the first person that quotes this post, I just hope it works!

I'd love it!

Bad news there: you can't do the LRB export anymore.

Did you have the content of Rock Band 1-3 ?

But basically.

Only for Rock Band => Don´t buy an X1

If you are also interested in some exclusives => Then of course buy it :-)

I have used copies of RB and RB2. Did they have some way to import content if you had a used disc and the previous owner used the code on the back of the manual? If not, they should consider releasing the old games as $15 song packs or something if you put the physical disc in the system, or some way of authorization.

I feel like they'll have something in place to bulk-purchase the songs from the past Rock Band games, without needing the disc. Tons of people are going to be going cross-platform, and will want to rebuild their catalog. Maybe just $10-$15 song packs.

New survey is up, mainly around systems, equipment and bundles.

they really need a
"depends on the quality/price" for a couple of those... I mean I plan to buy a new guitar or drum set if the quality is good and the price isn't to bad, but I can't commit to doing so until I see those thus I had to say I wasn't planning on getting them and just plan to get the standard version of the game even though I plan to get the band set assuming it's under $200 (at $250 I would skip it)

This seems to indicate if you haven't done so already, you should buy the Rock Band 1 export key before RB4 comes out, before it potentially expires.

edit: they haven't 100% promised RB1 songs will come forward, but they're expecting them to.

I'll have to grab one on PS3. I bought all RB games on my 360 could I buy copies of older RB games for PS3 and just download the tracks for use later on RB4?

Shame about no PC, but maybe it will come later on.

I want to buy the full set but I don't have room for the drum kits. So I'll probably just have to stick with the guitars.

This'll be my first RB game, I was always a GH player because I couldn't afford both historically.

Would be awesome to finally get Enter Sandman back but Metallica is a bunch of buttholes so probably not.

Looks like Guitar Hero killed itself, sadly :(
Can Rock Band 2 tracks be imported, still? It looks like you can get sealed copies of RB3 on eBay.
I imported the tracks only a couple months ago, but I think the option is dead on PS3.

There's no import code in Rock Band 3, the export code is on the back of the RB2 manual. A used copy likely used the code already.

I really hope there is a way for me to import from a previous PSN account. After the hack, I cancelled and resubbed with a different email... I think I am going to be screwed, though. Either way, I am in for the band bundle and an extra guitar at the start. I am so happy RB is back.

Nope.

For the instrument titles, only RB1 and Green Day's songs export. RB2 and Lego expired.

Is the Rock Band 1 export key the same one that is used to play RB1 songs on Rock Band 2 and 3? Or is it another export key for the Playstation 4?

yep

Same boat. Harmonic said they may be able to get old peripheral support. Given RB supported GH guitars, I'm hoping that means RB4 will support the old GH guitars.

Thank goodness I imported RB1 and RB2 when I had the chance a few years ago. All I need is an import code for PS4 from PS3 and I'm good to go.

Lightning on the Bass and Dante on the mic. Good stuff.
