Honestly, I'm glad there is no SP, but I have to say, if they aren't going to do that, why not spend the same time to make space battles? Or have it to where it can be bigger than 40 (seriously, it's a very weird MP number).
It does raise some questions alright. No space battles is a pretty weird omission. 40 players needs to be seen and experienced before I judge further

Is it possible that no space battles may be the result of another Star Wars game coming out that will be more akin to X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter?

Maybe they were asked to keep them more separate to provide more defined experiences? Honest question.

Was channeling my inner Harrison Ford Indiana Jones

Well played.

Huh? Where did you read that? I honestly doubt they'd have only 4 maps.

didn't say maps. I said planets, which I find pretty lackluster only to have 4 locations when the older games had much much more...

DICE is shooting for that same degree of authenticity with Battlefront’s maps, which will be set on Tattooine, Endor, Hoth, and Sullust. Those four planets seem to be the only locations Battlefront will launch with on November 17

Welp guys, pack it up, Sn4ke got you there.

Doesn't matter if there are no space battles instead of singleplayer, it's a different developer so it's okay. It'll probably still be $60, but we can't complain now.

Lemme just get my credit card and pre-order the collector's edition and all DLC.

Don't forget premium because premium!

WHAT? Is this confirmed?? They better have the walkers pilotable. That's the main thing I was looking forward to! They had them on the older games for christ sakes.

They are on-rails, but you can be the gunner. They are actually too damn slow to pilot anyway, so I can forgive that after giving it consideration.

Apparently some impressions (still waiting to get actual sources) indicate that, in Walker Assault mode, the ATAT only has its guns available for players to control. It moves on its own/by CPU, getting closer to the rebel base, and rebels have to take it out before it gets too close.

ATSTs may still be player controllable--but again, I haven't actually seen any sources yet. Given how DICE made all large aircraft in BF3/4 AI-controlled, I wouldn't put it past them, though.

Like others have said, by not having it, the game feels faster. By using ADS you move slower. Run and gun is the best way to play MP games.

Fair point about the moment speed, I hadn't thought of that, but I have to disagree with the bolded. I'm not a run-and-gun type of guy, I much prefer being "stealthy", flanking enemies and taking them by surprise.

Bro, is there anything you don't like?

I'm a bit disappointed there are no space battles BUT at the same time i think they probably did it to make the game on the planets even better, this also makes me hope for a smooth launch. So i'm ok with that. Everything else sounds awesome to me. I'm so happy heroes and villains are back.

and let's be honest, there will be Battlefront 2. They didn't make all those Star Wars assets and what not for one game.

No space battles has me slightly disappointed.

If they get the sense of scale right between the on-foot and the in the air stuff above then I can personally overlook that shortcoming for their first entry. It sounds like they will really need to round out the package for subsequent games.

I admit I'm disappointed in the omission of space battles in the game...

Although I wonder if DICE will include a mode akin to Air Superiority from BF in the future.

And you're free to do that. The only difference is that you won't be looking through irons when you fire. Given the pace of the game, you're going to find that no ADS is necessary.

As others noted, including myself, this is a good thing for this kind of game.

We arent dealing with realistic bullet physics and real world gun recoil etc. ADS with a blaster is pretty dumb in a game

Plus, some get to live their dream as a storm trooper trying to hit something lol. But yeah, no ADS is good.

A unique circumstance that's not even multiplayer, and as such isn't balanced for it. You're not gonna sit here and tell me that multiplayer games with ADS don't emphasize the use of it over hip fire, are you?
Depends on your play style, and the weapons you're using.
If we both come upon each other, I have a smg, you have an assault rifle, I'll aim from the hip before you can bring your gun up.

40 players is a design choice.
Indeed likely the better one. To have 64 players you have to have the map size to accomodate for that and when you compare Star Wars weapons to Battlefield... I mean you're not going to be lining up sniper shots from a kilometer away with blaster rifles. The map size needed to accomodate 64 players probably didn't work with Star Wars better playing blaster rifle type range.

ESPECIALLY now knowing the aiming will be closer to the original than an ADS shooter like Battlefield.

I'm wondering if they'll still have something akin to space battles, but with the carrier ships in orbit so you can go from ground to sky, but never space. That'd still give it the "space battle" feel, I guess.

If you use a sniper rifle for example, you'll have a zoomed in scope so you can still be a dirty camper ;)
