Leaked Battlefront info (40 players, heroes, free Ep7 DLC, FPS & TPS) [Full Screens]

I don't understand why people are complaining about the lack of space dogfighting. That would put battles MILES away from the ground troops, essentially turning it into two separate matches. You'd might as well be playing Tie Fighter with a different group of people altogether while the ground forces are playing Battlefront.

I wouldn't mind separate maps for space battles, similar to Battlefront II. They could be carrier assault modes that involve taking down massive star ships, with ground troops infiltrating the ships to attempt to weaken/destroy them from the inside. Maybe you could even do one that involved an assault on the Death Star.

Now, those maps were not very well executed in Battlefront II to me (though they could be fun with friends), so they would need a lot of improvement for it to be worth bringing a similar mode into the new game. However, if done right they could be fun.

I agree that I do not want land to space battles for the maps. That sounds cool in concept, but with only 40 players I think it'd be boring as hell in practice.

Wtf is going on. I didn't come on for 30 minutes and shit went down. What happened since the GI leak?

No one has confirmed PC Gamer's claim that there will only be four planets. No one. They assumed.

You know what happens when you assume?

I think there have been a few sources that have mentioned four planets. The Kinda Funny demo impressions mentioned the same.

Not confirmation--just throwing that out there.

-The 7 minute demo was on PS4, but there's no mention of the forthcoming trailer platform

If they're already showing it on PS4 then Sony almost certainly has the marketing exclusive on this, I guess?

Also, sounds like there's not a lot of content if they don't even have a proper campaign or actual space battles. I guess this is one to pick up late 2016 for £20 as Battlefront Premium with all DLC included.

Wait so will that YouTube stream be the same as the one on the Star Wars website? Where do I watch the game stuff?

I dont understand why people are taking the 4 planet thing as fact. I believe the exact quote said "seemingly". they have no confirmation. AND the game is still what? 7 months away

Really not that long in terms of development. I wouldn't expect anything to drastically change, especially if they're not even comfortable showing off gameplay to the public yet.

I have good news for you.

The bad news is that it also lacks a "Campaign mode".

There was not only a galactic conquest mode, but there was a full campaign about a squadron of stormtroopers taking place from eps 1-5, ending at hoth if I remember correctly.

Going to counter that;

1. DICE know almost nothing about balance just look out how Battlefield 4 started and look at maps like Op Metro/Locker.

2. 4 Planets I only care about actual map count so when thats released then year.

3. No SP campaign? Good DICE are fucking horrible at Single Player all it would have been is a massive disappointment.

4. This could have easily been a thing. They made it scripted no idea why.

5. No ADS? Ok sure but there better be zoom for scooped weapons.

6. No class system? Like I said DICE know nothing about balance this could turn out fucking horribly

7. No Squads? What a stupid thing to not have. The buddy system would be awful it only worked(read didnt actually work) with MOH because the player count was tiny.

8. No Space Battles? In a fucking Star Wars game? No space battles? Seriously? LOL

On the whole, I don't disagree. DICE still has issues figuring out balance, and they routinely make bone-headed design decisions, even with all of their experience.

There is zoom for scoped weapons, or at least sniper rifles specifically--that's all they've mentioned.

I do worry about the map design. Every BF release has a handful of mediocre/poorly designed maps, though their DLC is typically better.

Disagree on the Partner/Buddy system. It worked extremely well in MOH, but I do wonder how well it will work with larger player count.

I think the issue is that we're hearing about a bunch of limitations (AI-controlled AT-ATs, lower than expected player count, no space battles, etc.) AND no campaign. Theoretically, if not much time was spent on an SP campaign, we'd want to see even more MP content.

Having said that, we still know next to nothing about the game's content, so I'm trying to hold out judgement.

I am just absolutely sick of game delays as they are about to make me lose my fucking mind and i will be shocked if ea gets this out in an enjoyable and playable state this year without a delay and without it looking like a bf4 dlc pack

And for me personally the 3rd person info from this leak more than outweighs the negatives as i thought it was guaranteed 1st person only

but we dont know that there will only be 4 maps total. I understood it as they are only showing 4 maps as of right now. Which is way more than I was expecting right now

The campaign was literally the multiplayer maps with a couple of specific missions, and a voice over in between. There wasn't anything special about it. Galactic Conquest was sort of similar, but had some unique resource management/planet conquering stuff going on in menus.

Same setup for potential failure as BF4; they can't delay this. Hardline benefited a lot from being delayed.

After hearing how scripted/vertical slice-y the demo was for press rather than a rad uninterrupted live match...
That’s just my guess, because DICE’s Battlefront demo doesn’t offer a complete picture of what the game is actually like to play. I didn’t see how you spawn in, or the loadout screen for choosing weapon loadouts.

The whole demo felt scripted, following a fixed narrative path through a battle: Kill these Stormtroopers! Listen to these audio callouts from your teammates! Watch this AT-ST explode! Run beneath the AT-AT’s legs! It’s common for press demos, and it’s exciting, but it doesn’t quite capture the scope or mayhem I expect from a real 40-player Battlefront match. It’s too clean and idealized, more flash than fun.

DICE has proven that it knows how to make something that looks and sounds just like Star Wars, but I still have little idea how Battlefront will play. Aiming looks very different than Battlefield, but what about movement? What about dogfighting? What about hero characters? What about the gameplay modes DICE won’t talk about? How will the asymmetry of the Rebels and Imperials tie into those modes?

Six months out from release, EA certainly could’ve shown us what a real match of Battlefront looks like. Maybe it would be a little messy, a little rough around the edges, but it would be real—and it would probably be fun. Instead, we’re left guessing at what Battlefront will really feel like to play and how well it will truly stand apart from Battlefield. We’re left guessing at most everything, really—except for the fact that it sure does look good.

I'm less excited to see the footage other than to oogle at the visuals.
