Leaked Battlefront info (40 players, heroes, free Ep7 DLC, FPS & TPS) [Full Screens]

Eh, no campaign is disappointing for me. As well as lack of space battles. I know they're gonna have missions, but I felt like BF2's campaign was very good, and I'm sad they won't follow that up. It would have been nice to see some gap bridged in between Episode 6 and 7.

Despite that, everything seems solid. I'm kinda excited what Battlefront is gonna have.

Yeah, looks like it. I thought I read that the gameplay would be shown on the stream as well. Hopefully someone uploads a cam video of it today.

I'd like to see some off-scree video at least but I wonder if there will be some tight security disallowing people to pull out cameras to get footage at the booths

60fps is great. Trailer is great.

But how about some clarification, DICE? They said 4 planets, how many maps per planet?

Not much info for six months from release. Even the press only got to see another scripted segment.

PC Gamer:
Six months out from release, EA certainly could’ve shown us what a real match of Battlefront looks like. Maybe it would be a little messy, a little rough around the edges, but it would be real—and it would probably be fun. Instead, we’re left guessing at what Battlefront will really feel like to play and how well it will truly stand apart from Battlefield. We’re left guessing at most everything, really—except for the fact that it sure does look good.

Not really.

Most people had China Rising at least.
The base map servers were always plentiful.

Unless they gave the maps away for free, I don't see how they could have done it better.

It split entire game modes up into separate map packs, it fragmented the userbase a ton. They could have charged for the modes, technically, but left the maps free. That'd be better imo. Especially when you have 4-5 DLC per game.

I can already see they have the same plan here, though.

Eh, I need impressions before I can get hyped about that. If I'm just running around as generic republican soldier with a blaster, fuck that shit.

Alright, gotta go to lunch, but last time:

  • Only 40 player max per map? DICE says this was the appropriate number, based on their own testing/balancing. Map design is more important than player count. If maps are properly designed for 40 players, there's no reason the action wouldn't match the intensity of 64 player maps/games. That's always a big IF, though.
  • Only 4 planets in the game? Hoth (snow), Tatooine (desert), Endor (forest), and Sullust (volcanic--see the promo art). This does not mean there are only 4 maps in the game.
  • No SP campaign? There is not a specific campaign, but there are SP/co-op missions that are different from the multiplayer maps. From what I understand, this is just like Battlefront 2. Still no indication of whether or not Galactic Conquest is in.
Rather than a traditional solo outing, Battlefront will rely on a set of short missions which can be played alone, or cooperatively via split-screen or online...The co-op missions are "connected," Bach said, "and they are quite different" from the regular competitive multiplayer. Missions are short, and intended to be replayed on higher difficulties. Producer Craig Mcleod offered more insight, stating, "Because it’s only a two-player experience you’re sharing with a friend, they’re custom built. "It’s not about pulling a section out of somewhere else and you just do them. I can’t go into specifics about what mission we’ll have, but when we think about multiplayer and co-op, what we’re really trying to do is immerse yourself in your Star Wars battle fantasies."

  • No controllable walkers? It sounds like Walker Assault (which is the only mode show in the demo so far) has AT-ATs that are on set paths, with the guns controlled by players. The AT-AT moves towards the rebel base on a fixed path, and the rebels have to take it out before it reaches the objective. It is still possible that AT-STs are fully player controllable.

  • No ADS? Yeah, that's right. You'll be hip-firing with the finest from the Empire!
  • No class system? It sounds like there are no classes, just a wide selection of customization.
  • No squad system? Squads are being eschewed in favor of "Partners". Think the Buddy system from Medal of Honor: you have a buddy that you can always spawn on, and you share unlocks with her/him.
  • No space battles? Yeah, that sucks.

Jackfrags impressions:
  • PS4 gameplay at 60fps
  • Watched Endor map
  • When shooting in 1st person mode, "you can aim down the scope". He specifically says scope
  • Says it LOOKS LIKE you can "potentially control ATST, ATAT, and speeder bikes"
  • Player movement similar to BF3/4
  • Headshots do more damage
  • Verticality in the map
  • Beacon calls in squadron of Y wings for bombing run
  • Can get into high Ewok villages, but didn't see Ewoks
  • You appear on minimap if you shoot and MAYBE if you sprint
  • Not a detailed minimap, more like a circular radar
  • Four item slots, looks like three primary weapon/equipment slots and one for in-game battle pickups
  • Looks like no ammo--each weapon may just have an overheat/overcharge
  • Battle pickups, like the rocket launcher, are one-shot
  • Other equipment: grenades, jetpack, circular shield
  • Clean UI
  • Doesn't seem to be any 3D spotting
  • Demo was running at 60fps
  • "Looks incredible"

Instant access seems to mean you don't have to unlock them like everyone else.

I'll be really bummed if Galactic Conquest doesn't make it in, was a lot of fun in 2, especially modded.

Also bummed about no space battles.

PC Gamer:

Probably won't see a proper gameplay reveal until E3 makes sense and I would expect Sony to announce a bundle day and day with the release of this game.

Didn't they have testers come out and play not too long ago?

That's wrong. BF2 had a campaign. A story driven campaign that had a proper structure, objectives, cut scenes. The works.

Stop trying to excuse the lack of a campaign in this by outright lying about what was in BF2.

Like I said, that's just what I understand. I have had two posters respond, in addition to that pic/post--one of them saying that it's wrong, and the other saying that the BF2 campaign was so barebones that what will be in BF3 sounds better than that.

That is not the same. In Battlefront 2 you have the same exact maps from the multiplayer with a bit of voice over, the absolute barebones campaign you can think of. The single player they are working on for this game sound A TON better.

About this, this doesn't sound at all like previous battlefront games, or like Gal Con. There was a campaign with modified multiplayer maps in the battlefront games, but it also had a story. This just sounds like quick and dirty co-op matches against bots.

Yeah no thanks. I learned my lesson with SWTOR Deluxe Edition.
