Leaked Battlefront info (40 players, heroes, free Ep7 DLC, FPS & TPS) [Full Screens]

It's funny, there's only one piece of news that's dropped today that's an improvement on Battlefront 2 in this game. The graphics will be pretty. That's the only detail that sounds like an improvement to me. Every other piece of news has been things that are kept the same like 3rd/1st person, vehicles being a thing, heroes, no ADS(don't get me wrong, that's positive news at least), or things that have been removed like environment variety, probably Gal con, space missions, AT-AT's going on scripted paths and bot missions replacing a campaign. I don't know why people are so positive about this.

I mean, I'm still in to buy it day 1, but I have to honestly ask what people think will be better than Battlefront 2 besides graphics based on what we were told today?

Stealth edit: Oh yeah, I forgot. They also increased the player count by 8.

I fully agree. Also, Y-wings apparently being a call-in ability rather than players flying the bombers themselves.

Everyone's caught up on the graphics discussion.

Well, for me, it's actually being made by a competent dev, the old Battlefronts always felt janky as fuck to me.

Yeah, what a weird post.

What will be better? The cumulative outcome off all the things in game should produce a far more competent experience.

Gameplay, audio, 60 fps, UI, social aspect, sharing aspect etc.

Battlefront 1 and 2 had a lot of charm but as Ram said, they were janky as fuck.

The events themselves are Legends/non-canon just like everything else in the old EU.

You've got something like New Republic getting canonized today.

I guess the assumption is the galaxy just came into existence right before that shuttle landed on the Trade Federation ship.

BF 4 was the definition of jank for months after it was launched, worse than anything in the battlefront games and they were released 10 years ago when everything was janky as hell. I honestly preferred Free Radical to anything DICE has ever done, but even in the DICE category battlefield has gotten more and more generic as time has gone on.

But that's your opinion, if you honestly trust DICE as a developer that's you.

Social? Battlefield has never been particularly good for playing with large groups of friends, especially not 4. Other than that and gameplay obviously(See above for my opinion on that), I don't feel like the things you're talking about are a big deal. Man the things you people are putting importance on are completely at the bottom of the list of things I look for in games.

Battlefield has only recently been good with large group of friends and with the platoon feature, it's easy to see and join anyone in your platoon ( limited to 100 though).

Social features will be quite important going forwards in MP orientated games.

Btw, am i only the who thinks that most of the particles effects dont look that great? Most of them are half-res or lower. The only ones that look amazing, are the ones that hit the trees and set them on fire.
I also dislike the overblown glow on particles.
I also hope that they will improve lightsaber, it doesnt look that great. I actually liked the changes to lightsabers in 1-3 episodes, to make it thinner and more 'hot' visually.

This one thing i like about U4's Infiltrator demo and Ryse particles, that they seems to simulate proper temperature of particles.

Conquest was the main mode in Battlefront, which was a combination of domination of TDM and Domination. They also had capture the flag and normal TDM among other things.

Good to hear. I'm more of a fan of the more classic/basic modes like TDM and dom and such.

Holy sith, no ADS? Perhaps there's hope for this gaming industry...

Now, if only someone could confirm online PVP supports splitscreen, not just co-op missions...

Limted party sizes and not being able to join as a party was how it worked in Battlefield 4. More often than not you'd join midgame on the other team, in a different squad, or the game would fill up before you could even get in.

I also mentioned(in an edit) that social features are important to me, but battlefield has always been the worst modern shooter in this regard for me.

I'm glad they are going for 60fps on consoles. I don't mind the graphics looking "bad" as long as the gameplay is smooth. Also great to hear about bots.

I thought I wouldn't buy another EA game till Mirror's Edge 2. Guess I was wrong.

PS: Oh, and no ADS? That's awesome. See 343? It's not that hard...

It's intentional to capture the feel of the old movies.

Well, I'm off the Hype train.

Feeling deflated.

Ah well, I'm sure it will still be enjoyable.

Can someone who hates ADS explain why? No ADS was the #1 thing that made me lost interest.

If it really won't have ADS, how ironic. How very ironic.
Halo adds ADS because it is trendy, EA's game (that don't (IMO) show much independence from mainstream) has no ADS just because.
Fuck you 343i.

Eh, the particle effects look just like the movies; that's why people like them and I'm inclined to agree. If you have a problem with the fact that the movies are ancient.

I guess the assumption is the galaxy just came into existence right before that shuttle landed on the Trade Federation ship.

We only know teases of where they're going with that era in canon.

-The Jedi battled the Mandalorians long ago
-The Sith originated on Moraband
-The current line of Sith are descended from Darth Bane, who looks completely different than his EU counterpart
-Everything from the Old Republic has a samurai/feudal Japan look to it, at odds with the Galaxy in KOTOR/TOR which looked pretty much he exact same as it did 4000 years later

Leland Chee said today that exploring the era is "not off the table," while Pablo Hidalgo said they are "totally against the idea that novels just fill gaps."

We'll just have to be patient and see where they go with it, and whether or not they keep anything. Right now we just don't know.

I dont think it is the reason. The sneak peak from E3, had higher quality particles effects.
Also, some particles effect look like straight out from BF 4.

Sure game is work in progress and changing the look of particles globally is quite easy, so i'm expecting improvements ;)

Ps. Thats me though, i'm really sensitive to quality of particles. Most people do not notice it, but for me, it is sometimes very jarring.
Not a big deal though, game look more that outstanding to me :)
Btw, i showed to it my friends and they were speechless :)

Christ, how many times are we gonna hear about 'practical effects' and 'practical sets'. It's like Disney/Lucasfilm ordered anyone and everyone who is involved in Star Wars to keep mentioning this.
