Leaked Battlefront info (40 players, heroes, free Ep7 DLC, FPS & TPS) [Full Screens]

I feel like an idiot. Can someone explain ADS to me like I'm 5?

Aim Down Sights.

Typically increases accuracy at the cost of movement speed and FOV.

ALTHOUGH, would Bobba Fett being on Jakku make sense in the timeline? I am not sure when the battle of jakku takes place in regards to Return of the Jedi

I expect heroes to be on every map whether they make sense or not. BF2 had plenty of oddities when it came to hero placement/continuity. The battle of Jakku takes place shortly after Jedi iirc.

That said, it might not be Jakku. It was just a guess.

On the other hand, what has EA and DICE done to earn unbridled optimism about the game? The writer is being cautious. Historically a good idea with those involved.
I'm very neutral when it comes to it. I think caution is perfectly fine. The tone just felt so snarky to me. They've had mishaps in the past, and they've also done great things in the past.

strange that there is a tie in novel, when the game seemingly has no new story.

reading the short info about it, it sounds like a new take on the clone trooper stories that would be in the clone wars

Man I was so close on that boxart.

aiming down sights. Every played cod? its when you aim your weapon
Aim Down Sights.

Typically increases accuracy at the cost of movement speed and FOV.
Aim down sights. The left trigger on most controller setups. Right mouse button on most KB+M setups.
This is ADS.
THANK YOU! I was very much over complicating it in my mind. I can see where the debate comes from.

Christ, how many times are we gonna hear about 'practical effects' and 'practical sets'. It's like Disney/Lucasfilm ordered anyone and everyone who is involved in Star Wars to keep mentioning this.

I actually don't have a problem with that if it means we're trending back towards it.

kinda sad that episode 1,2,3 are not part of the game. I really wanted to play in the clone wars! Guess thats gonna be in the sequel.

could be dlc. They honestly already have most of the memorable fights covered from the original trilogy. Endor and Hoth are the big ones, and they will have multiple maps at launch

Maybe they will include some of that as DLC

I'm not really a fan of the whole season pass thing but I can see myself buying "premium" or whatever it's called this time.

I can understand why. They've put so much work into recreating a lot of the effects of the original trilogy all the way down to the smoke clouds and sparks from blaster fire. The prequels used CGI for all of that so DICE would have to remake all of those effects for those maps to be authentic which seems to be their focus with this game.

However, I would love to see what Clone Wars battles would look like with those effects as it could give us a glimpse at what those films could have been if they stayed more true to the series roots. I would be completely okay with them recycling it even if its going to look off.

DLC seems like the best option though as it won't force that era on fans who want nothing of it, and those who enjoy it can still have access to it.

yea im pretty sure they started to work on this game around 2 years ago so I understand why they don't have space battles, or the second trilogy. There is just not enough time for it and Id rather have a polished game with a set objective then one trying to cram multiple features into the game before the deadline (which obviously has to before the movie comes out.)

So when do you guys expect a sequel ? So this year is Battlefront then next year is Battlefield, maybe Titanfall 2 and then Battlefront 2 ?

I really hope heroes being a thing will be a separate mode and not the main game. Last thing I need is one guy being vastly overpowered because reasons. Great way to make the majority of the team feel insignificant.

It's a pretty big fucking deal? Would you prefer a reality where 99% of the productions resorted to CGI? Oh wait..
I cannot believe people are asking for Episode 1,2 and 3 content. Shocked.

Said to myself I will never pre-order a EA game again, now I have pre-ordered this game. :(

I don't get the pre-orders for digital copies of the game this far out. You can probably preorder the game on the eve of the DLC early release and get in on that hot action.

I'm personally waiting to see if there's a physical CE of some sort, hopefully with some gameplay, before I start making any commitments.

My 5c on all the info/announcement/whatever.

I think it is, more or less, exactly what was promised. And by promised I mean DICE were already public about this not being Battlefront III exactly, but instead a reboot of the franchise as they envision it. I know diehard Battlefront fans are bummed at excluded features, but I think this was inevitable. There were always going to be changes big enough to warrant a statement from DICE like that.

I'm happy with most of what they've said so far considering this, though I am a little bummed that there won't be any space fights (in a fucking Star Wars game of all things). Stuff like this, along with no prequel trilogy representation, strikes me as conservative scope to ensure they hit their deadline with a quality product. Where Free Radical were experimenting with space-to-ground data streaming technology, DICE's Battlefront is a lot more conservative. Seemingly nothing particularly revolutionary or unusual, but the focus on making a good Battlefield: Star Wars game. Fact of the matter is development logistics are more demanding in modern games, and while DICE might have wanted to include a lot more scope in franchise representation, space battles, and other goodies, doing all this with proper QA and hitting their November target might have been deemed borderline impossible. This isn't the only project their working on: Mirror's Edge 2 is in the pipes, they supported BioWare with Inquisition, and guarantee they're doing so again for Mass Effect 4. Not forgetting Hardline, and I'm sure Battlefield 5.

End of the day, DICE is made up of humans, and Star Wars is really not their franchise. Battlefield would be a franchise on a tight leash when it comes to scheduling, but in the worst case scenario I'm sure negotiations with EA would take place. Star Wars? It's a tie-in with the new movie. They deal with Disney. You can't miss a deadline like that, and it seems they're erring on the side of caution.

ADS is a non issue to me and I expected it because it's DICE. I grew up playing arena shooters so I prefer games built around projectile weaponry and movement, but come on. It's a DICE game. It's Star Wars Battlefield. It's mass market. ADS is inevitable. It can still play amazingly with ADS. You can still lay the smackdown with a lightsaber. You can still clean up with an ATST.

I'm also sceptical it will look as good as the trailer. It's all in engine, but careful use of lighting and a ton of supersampling along with blur do a good job of making shit look better than it will when you're staring at the screen. It'll look gorgeous regardless. And sound amazing.

Considering what the game is and who is making it, and just accepting it as Battlefield: Star Wars, my concerns all have to do with the strict schedule and the impact that has.
- Content: how many maps? Battlefield 4 launched with 10 (even if half didn't work :P).
- Balance: unlocks are inevitable, but how bad will the grind be? Battlefield 4 was often excessive, and Battlefield 3 had it wrong in many places.
- Bugs: will the game, you know, fucking work?
- Value: see all of the above.

So yeah. In my heart I'd love for Battlefront to be a revolutionary, surprising Battlefield: Star Wars with great new tech and content like 64+ player battles in a Titan mode-like maps where the "Titan" is a starship in upper atmosphere/space that you can traverse to in real time. But given it's been a decade since the last Battlefront, several cancelled prototypes, and DICE busy as they are would be crunching to get this out before the year ends...all I want is a game that works, is balanced, fun, and has content proportional to its value.

I'm wondering about this myself. Assuming FB engine is stable, what can they do with 2.5 years of development?

(it is possible they made a PoC to Disney before the deal was made)

I'm predicting it will be at least trailer quality if you have a strong PC.

As long as there is no benefit to ADSing, I don't really care if they put it in the game to appease a few people. They're going to die to everyone else.

Will the online work at launch or even 6 months after launch though?

People will say "well, Hardline was smooth", and totally overlook how iterative that game was in the process. This will be more ambitious. So the best thing to do is to wait and see, not preorder.

Just because the movies sucked doesn't mean the gameplay would suck, especially since it was already in Battlefront 2.

It was nice for map variety really, although I don't know if they'd do anything here to differentiate it enough in terms of gameplay. I rather have full space maps first since that was a big part of Battlefront 2 and had some really unique gameplay. You can go out there and act like you're playing Rogue Squadron or sneak into the enemy's capital ship and wreak havoc inside. The infantry engagements were amazing on the ships.

Disregarding all that I WANT from previous BF games, I'm just hoping they give us a decent amount of maps at launch despite us all knowing they'll have new planets ready for premium to entice people.

I'm wondering if the PC community for Battlefront will be a ghost town?

- Anti-Origin sentiment (Gabe or bust)
- Anti-EA
- BF4 anger
- Battlefield Hardline low PC stats

Why would Battlefront be a ghost town? It will be massive on PC, like BF 3 and BF 4 was, but i expect bigger.

Anti-Origin sentiment is really very small % of players.
