So was Rises.

When people make fun of Rises I like to look up all the popular review sites and remind myself how critics and audiences mostly liked it...

... then I look up how most people didn't like Man of Steel and that's fun too.

And they've leaked the ending of BVS, seems Batman kills Superman and wears his costume for fun.

Batman is a SERIOUS character, Penguin. His parents are DEAD. His sidekicks are DEAD (or paralyzed). He's such a tortured, painful, brooding soul; all the joy has been sucked out of his life by gunshots and crowbars, creating a black hole inside him that can never be filled by anything other than VENGEANCE and the NIGHT. That's what makes him such a badass, unstoppable engine of justice. Try to make a little light in that hole, turn that perpetual scowl rightside-up once in a while, and the entire world shatters.

I get that some people like that, but hoping that's not exactly what we get here.

You noted that Burton, Nolan and now Zack are taking inspiration from Miller, but they were all smart enough to kind of... drop some of his more... over the top elements, and I hope we get that here.

My ideal Batamn... shocking absolutely no one here is the Timmverse one, tortured soul, but he does bond with most people in a normal manner... eventually.

:(

I would prefer if Batman slimmed down a bit after this movie, the TDKR suit is a nice homage to Frank Miller but I like the slimmed down Bats better for most incarnations.

I know right, if everybody on earth made a list of the best superhero movies. Then translated those titles into their writers guess who's name would pop up the most, Goyer.

Goyer was responsible for some of the story but much of the TDK trilogy was written by Chris and Jonathan Nolan.

He should stick to stories and not writing the actual screenplay.

Zach Snyder usually has great trailers, mediocre films. This trailer wasn't even very good. With DC taking a shortcut lumping so many heroes in this film, coupled with a bad director, I don't see this being anything but a cluster fuck.

And the cycle is complete.

He has to compete with the beast that is Jason Momoa and Henry "hairy chest" Cavill.

Afflecks already a tank, but they'll have to reduce some of the padding unless we want batman to just stand in one spot for most of the fights

Or maybe he's super quick in this suit but that looks physically impossible from the look of it, we'll see

Which, along with excellent writing and incredible artwork, has been one of the main reasons this run has stood out. Waid changed the beat.

That doesn't change the point. Just because you like a current Marvel run doesnt mean the Daredevil character hasn't been dark and brooding for much of his modern interpretations. There are other interpretations of Batman too. Not really seeing any point to this.

Two of the five creative voices you named expressly drew inspiration from the first one for their mainstream depictions, as has Snyder clearly.

Miller effectively laid the blue-print for what Batman could be and everyone followed him down that road tonally, but there are still significant divergences. Morrison's Batman is not Miller's Batman. Miller's was a furious fascist, Morrison almost robotically impassionate.

And Dini, if recent stories and the Arkham games have been anything to go by, has fallen in with that lot as well.

Not sure your recollection of the Arkham games is that strong. Almost every ounce of Batman's dialogue is straight up out of TAS in Asylum and City. He didn't write Origins IIRC.

And Timm, well... correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Bruce Wayne end up a miserable old man, all alone and waiting for death in a drafty manor until Terry showed up, much like Carrie did in TDKR? Oh, he had a dog.

The Dark Knight Returns is inarguably one of the two most influential and important graphic novels ever written. It's going to be referenced for the rest of time.

Kind of wish they hadn't shown even this much. A year is a long time. :|

It'll go by quickly. Summer movie season is almost upon us, and that comes and goes in a flash. Then we'll have a fall season of looking forward to SW. Before we know it, it's early 2016 and BvS is just around the corner. :)

I don't know what's wrong with big batman, it's obvious from Snyder's stylation of the DC movies he wants to have his superheroes big and muscled from like..90's comics.

The flying security robot made Superman bled in MoS in the Kryptonian ship... Supes should just tell Batman about that and fly away.

We'll likely see some new stuff at Comic Con, which is only a few months away. Will most likely be potato phone footage for those of us not attending, but eh.

They should do a BvS Wonder Woman trailer next (trailer with mostly Wonder Woman stuff) since now after people seeing how cool Ben Afflec look as Batman, Gal/WW is like the only thing left that people are not sure about.

Thinking that shot with Batman and the grapple gun could be the rumored
break-in scene where Batman breaks into LexCorp to steal kryptonite for his fight against Supes.

Affleck looks nothing like Cavill without shirt.

Affleck's suit is padded like hell.

Didn't Zack say there will be no kryptonite?

Supes weakness in this universe is the Kryptonian atmosphere (Bats and Lex should make a mini earth engine or something) I hope we never see the green rocks in this universe.

If this film is better than the dark Knight cartoons I will eat my hat

I hate snyders visual style I think it looks cheap and tacky

His style looks amazing. If there is one thing his movies have going for them is style. The only thing I am worried about this movie is the script and screenplay.

MoS was a good movie (not great), but it had issues that can be fixed (ie. actual instances) unlike Marvel Universe whose problems I have is with the way they write their movies sans Winter Soldier.

I really hope before the end of the movie Supes and Batsy become friends and then work together to take down Lex. Though I would prefer if Lex had some help if he's going against both of them.
