Yeah, I just beat the game today. Killed the last 4 bosses, including Moon Presence. Killed everyone in one go except I kind of messed up with Gehrman and died once. Every boss after Ebrietas was too easy.

I messed up bad my first time against G
ehrman
, I wasn't ready for the quick combos :P.
I feel like M
oon Presence
was way easier than anything else. Well, M
icolash
was also easy but the fight took me a pretty long time because I was confused.

He's basically parry city. So many attacks that can be parried, especially the long scythe ones. Maintain distance in second phase as you can't stun and be really patient.

Tried all of this. He's very very agressive against me and closes huge distances. Even when I dodge he'll do a 90 degree turn in mid air to hit, when he should miss. I've watched a vid afterwards and he was no where near as agressive as he was in the vid I watched, after he killed me yesterday and today. I'll eventually beat him, I'm sure of that. Thanks for the tips :)

Holy shit this set is a lot of money, but it looks amazing. Thanks.

Ye I know but they look awesome. Recommend you ''farm'' echoes killing the enemies before Mergo's Wet Nurse boss fight. The 3 pigs and the other enemies gives you a lot of echoes, just do that few times and you should be able to get them.

Oh man. #rekt

My first "souls" game that I've actually gotten close to finishing. I'm pretty excited about that. But I do have an end game question:

I'm about to fight Gehrman, so when do I consume the three umbilical cords? Prior to fighting him? During? Post?

Thanks ahead for the answer.

Do backup your save so you can reload and get all 3 endings. First 2 endings don't require them. The last one, prior.

I have used the 3 cords before talking to him and that triggers the secret boss fight after killing him. I think you can use them when you want as long as he his not dead, you have to used at least 3 before he goes down because as soon as he dies new game+ begins. You have no option to enter your inventory and consume the cords.

Well I got to upper cathedral ward in my ng+ to mop up the stuff I missed on new game. Have to say I was expeting more from the bosses. Went in blind fighting both and reset game each night to avaiod getting bugged again like near the end on my ng.

celestial emmisary was just a joke. Until it turned up it was just wack a mole. Then it was just roll roll roll hit and repeat. Annoying but did it first attempt.

OK now for the daughter of chaos. OK huge strange thing. Will just try the old, stay behind it tactic. Basically gave it a hunter enema. Dodged till I got wedged between its tails and in it arse. R1 till shacken out and repeat. Almost got me with arcane attack thing but I just about got through that. Again, went down first go. Used bolt paper on both. Managed to stun her a few times which helped.

Was fun though.

All I got left is 2 other endings, then collecting weapons and chalice stuff. Have little interest in chalace stuff and collecting weapons and tools and not sure how bothered I am about seeing other endings (already looked them up).

Maybe I'll save the last trophies for a quite time in gaming down the line or something.

I gave Alfred the unopened summon , he showed up and killed the queen. I did this for wheel weapon seeing that you have to complete alfred quest line just to be able to buy the weapon. I'm not sure about how the vile blood thing works after the queen is dead, all I know is that you can resurrect her . After she is dead , she drops queenly flesh. Take that to the daugther of cosmos place and you can resurrect her. This is what I did.

Equipping the convenant rune = in that convenant. Unequip = out. Really dumb way of doing it. And,
having Alfred kill the queen lets you get into the executioner convenant. Get the executioner's rune from Alfred's suicide body found in the place where you first met Alfred. You can also resurrect the queen using the queen flesh at alter in the EB boss room.

Awesome! Thanks guys.

Congrats dude!

I'm still there myself. It's not conceptually impossible, just super annoying as there's little room for mistakes and randomness.

Why is she so much harder there than in the main game? o.o
Life halved, more damage and some of the cheesiest stuff doesn't work

Because in the defiled chalice dungeon you only half hp as you would normally have . Personally I found the boss before amygdala way harder in this dungeon.
Funny, he's the only one of the three I didn't have too much trouble with. YYMV I guess.

Finally beat it! Loved the game but I might wait for the patch improving load times before trying my hand at NG+. Hopefully this gets some DLC later on in the year :P

Because the main story is basically designed to be beaten by anyone with reasonable determination, but the depth 4 and 5 chalices are where "the true Bloodborne starts here""

The chalice versions of story bosses are often the "true" form or at least a version tuned to be much more punishing and require much more careful dodging and reading of attacks. The defiled version halves your hp to enforce this further. I have 70 VIT on this character, and it barely matters here.

Hahaha, congrats. I can feel the joy.

Haha yeah usually I'd think a full minute of gesturing at the end of a fight would be overkill but this was so hard fought. Maybe the hardest thing (for me, I realize other folks found this one relatively easy) I've ever done in a game, other than 1cc Ikaruga's easy mode.

Finally sat down to give this game a go and have so far spent an hour and fifteen minutes in the first area (where the brick troll is beating on the door). I get to him or the enemies right past him (two wolves and a mob) but no further. Ah well, I just need to practice and practice till I really get it down I guess. And keep my patience in check.

Have barely played the Souls games so this is really my first go at one of these.

Hang in there. Just try to play again and again till you master the combat and the mechanics and feel free ask any questions you have. Trust me, once you have learnt the games rules you won't find it that hard.

I cannot beat
Ebrietas
. Just hits so hard. One mistake and I'm close to dead.

Tried lock on, tried free camera. Bah. I have no idea anymore.

Using Cane. Also got Ludwigs, but I'm not a skill builds, so it's not great. And I got Blades, too. But I doubt those would be useful now.

Any help would be awesome. Dodging charge is hit or miss. Haha.

I never got too mad, just aggravated at myself for playing sloppy and seemingly forgetting the moves in the middle of combat.

I found the easiest way to dodge the charge was this.
1. Lock on.
2. When you see her readying the charge, just walk to the back left.
3. When's she's about to hit do 2 dodges to the back left.

Level up...and stay close. She was hands down, the toughest fight in the game for me. Stay to your left (her right and stay in close). It also helps to get a little bit lucky with her charges. Hit her in the head as often as you can.

You will learn every time you die and you progress further every time you try. Try exploring every area and every corner. The game is made like this, basically its a long way from lamp to lamp but you can open up so many shortcuts which make it easier for you to get to the boss or next area. If you find it frustrating that you have to run few minutes just to get to boss fight then you probably have missed a shortcut. Anyways, good luck on your hunt.

Here's how I did it:

It shows the level and weapon. You can check the strategy in the description.

I actually find baiting the mid range attacks is the way to go.

No no...I know about the Artorias DLC. I loved it but getting the key to the Artorias DLC and getting the
Yharnam Stone
are two entirely different experiences.

I think both would be equally shitty, considering you can lock yourself out of playing Artorias in your current playthrough, and if you were near the beginning of the playthrough when the DLC released, you'd have to make significant progress in the main game to play it.

I hope they just use that tombstone the Doll occasionally waits by as the DLC portal like people in here have speculated.

I don't know about shitty but certainly ill advised on their part. Getting to the end of that "story chain" in the Chalice dungeons was a bit of a mother fucker.

My nephews speculated that it might have to do with the altar in behind
Ebrietas
but if that was the case I assume it would have been discovered by now. I'd try but I am right at the beginning of a NG++

I'm content to put the game down for a while. O.o

Ok so I defeated
Paarl
and went back to the hunter with the gatling gun to befriend him.
I got the gesture and the badge. Is there any other items to get from him, or can I just leave him be now?

Anyone want to help me take down final boss in
hunters dream
? Level 100 and dude keeps wrecking me! Going out of town for a week and I'd love to get him. Setting password to neogaf1 if anyone would like to help.

Completed Alfred's side quest, killed
One reborn
, killed
undead giant in
hell yes
with the logarius wheel and roar emote
. How many story bosses left?

Is it weird that I'm rerolling characters if I die before BSB? it feels weird but I don't want to stop.

Also check out the insight/blood echo shop to see if having the stone lets you buy anything.

It lets you buy ritual blood 4 so we already know what it does. People are expecting more out it for some reason, though. It's just an in-game trophy in addition to letting you buy the blood.

With just one trophy left until the platinum, I decided to rank all the bosses in terms of difficulty.

I ranked them retrospectively, i.e. how difficult I found them the first time I faced them in NG. 1 = easiest, 17 = most difficult.

1. C
elestial Emissary
2. W
itch of Hemwick
3. M
icolash, Host of the Nightmare
4. C
leric Beast
5. O
ne Reborn
6. S
hadow of Yharnam
7. A
mygdala
8. M
ergo's Wet Nurse
9. E
brietas, Daughter of the Cosmos
10. R
om, the Vacuous Spider
11. F
ather Gascoigne
12. G
ehrman, The First Hunter
13. M
oon Presence
14. D
arkbeast Paarl
15. B
lood-starved Beast
16. V
icar Amelia
17. M
artyr Logarius
ML was definitely one of the hardest until I found out I could stop that flying swords attack
