If you're going to do a number-by-number comparison of who's outgrossing who and leave out the #1 performer, that seems a bit disingenuous.

People really are trying to write the whole movie in their heads based on a two minute teaser trailer.

Why do the Marvel comparisons keep coming up? We already know Marvel is a well oiled, Disney backed machine that has this shit down like clock work, WB seems to be a lot more bureaucratic in that regard..

It is nowhere near as ugly as that thread will be at this point next year.
The month leading up to BvS will be a lot of mudslinging. Then, once BvS makes a ton of money it will get uglier. But, the ugliest time will be after Civil War opens, regardless of whichever film makes more or has a higher RT score.
Maybe we should make it a three way thread and add in X-Men: Apocalypse as well just to make it extra dirty.

It would be amazing and hilarious if Xmen: Apocalypse beat both.
All I'm saying is I don't think Snyder is the man to get you there, and judging by the tone and style of this trailer I don't think this is the direction to take to bring the two properties out of hardcore circles and into the mainstream.
I'm not even a big fan of a lot of the MCU movies. I think Nolan's Batman movies shit on them, but I also didn't think his movies were super dark or oppressive. His Batman movies were just very well made and contained great drama. I can't say the same for Man of Steel. And Nolan has become a household name at this point. Fucking Interstellar almost made as much money as Man of Steel.
Given how salty the X-Men series makes people, that would be the perfect twist.

What movie made 1.5? Avengers right? JLA can easily make it if they dont fk it up. Batman v Superman will outgross Civil War I think.
Edit : Although I kind of agree with you. If the trailer is indicative of the entire movie's tone I would not be surprised if it has a lesser gross at the box office. I love that the movie does not look like the typical marvel movie but bright and colorful sells and I dont think diffrentiating by going in the opposite direction ( as much as I like it as a fan ) is going to do WarnerBros any favors. We shall see though. It is still fking batman and superman in one movie and should cross a billion on name alone easily.

The tone of BatMan how it is, work just fine for mainstream, you can have this tone as long as the movie is good, it doesn't matter what tone you do if the movie is colorful or dark, it will just wont break records if the Movie sucks.
The funny thing is... all the bickering, think pieces, comparisons... only serves to line Marvel and DC pockets because sites/blogs/Youtubers can't afford NOT to talk about these things, the movies are generally always in our vision.

Exactly. People really think these companies are trying to undercut each other, but all they have to do is let the wheels spin, let the fanboys keep all their properties in constant conversation, and cash them checks.

I wish all of their future films were slotted sooner. I know some people are tired of the pace marvel churns out movies but I love it. That, in my mind, is the biggest advantage Marvel has over WB. All DC projects are produced in-house by WB whereas marvel is able to partner with multiple studios simultaneously. The BvS delay still stings.
