Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Thanks for the confirmation! Really appreciate it.

By the way, does anyone know the difference between Hori's RAP 4 and RAP 5 of the Hayabusa line? They seem identical.

I believe the HRAP5 just the Japanese market version of the Kai. The HRAP V4 is a Japan-only PS4 stick based on the old V3 shell. It also lacks the touchpad on the Kai/V5.

And the VLX. There are also people doing pad hacks to modify older/custom sticks.
Thanks for the info. Ended up ordering a HRAP 4 Kai because the TE2 will only be available at the end of June out here. (And because the TE2 is going to cost €70 more.)
I'll give the kuro buttons a go but I'll replace them with others if I don't like them.

Wow, I didn't know that stick existed! It's an HSS-0136 for PS2!

The LS-56 includes a shaft-cover (black). You could simply remove it to maintain the original appearance. Alternatively, you could buy an LS-32-01 (no -SC) as it has a bare metal shaft.
I will look into that thanks. It's pretty nice, but I find it pretty hard to use. Motions are a lot harder to pull off than on pad. Does that have to do with the LS-56 or is that just getting used to a stick in genreral?

If it's your first time on a stick, it's going to take a few weeks of practice to get back to where you were on a pad, but it's worth the effort.

I go back and forth between the LS-32 and LS-56. I like the slightly shorter throw of the 56 and you can mount it in practically anything, but overall I have slightly better execution on the LS-32, so that's what's in all my sticks right now.

So there I was trying to get some mileage out of my SFIV TE2 PS3 stick by plugging it in to my computer and playing some MK9 or Injustice
I had forgotten that it had the whole problem with the Nvidia chipsets? What's the deal with this? I assume there's hope of this being fixed? What is the best way around it?

Is it stuff like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004B0H5WG/?tag=neogaf0e-20 ? which I found with some googling and looking through steam communities

How come the same product costs 100 euros in Europe?

http://www.amazon.de/dp/B00OOQW47S/

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00OE28EBC/

I just install that to the motherboard and plug the arcade stick through that way? Is it possible to have multiple of these inside my computer at the same time, as in can I still use my old one?

Got a Showcase cabinet last week for essentially nothing, but damn it's gonna take a lot of work to get it going again.

RFX1Z7a.jpg

It was an old Maximum Force cabinet that was repurposed as a Naomi cabinet but then wouldn't turn on. Turns out the wiring was hacked together in such a bizarre and dangerous manner I'm not sure how it even worked without catching on fire or killing someone.

So I've rewired the board but now I can't get the monitor to turn on.

I've confirmed the Naomi itself will boot by plugging it into a PC monitor but can't get any power to the monitor. Not sure what to do here other than wiring a power cable directly to the monitor to see if it can get power independently.

Basically, I forgot what a pain arcade cabs can be when they don't work. Even once I get this all figured out I have to make a new control panel (gonna do something cool I'm thinking, like add cup holders in for easy beer consumption), wire up the controls, and I should probably buy a game or two as well!

On the flip side this thing is gonna be super awesome once it's working!

So did some more investigating and I do have Intel chipset on my computer but it still doesn't work, even when plugged into a USB 3.0 port?

The drivers install and the computer recognizes the stick as PC USB Wired Stick 8838, but the calibration or testing does not register any inputs... Any ideas?

My friend got his PS4 TE from Amazon on Saturday, meanwhile I am still waiting on Madcatz to send out mine...

Markman, wtf bruh!

I'm sure it wasn't direct from Amazon unless it was a backorder on an USFIV one that wasn't fulfilled / cancelled.

We are waiting for our next batch, which should be soon.

My plan was discovered by my mom, And my parents were raged to me. I could abandon my parent's rage and keep my plan, but the peace is most important.
So.... I had to cancel my VLX order on Amazon japan. It's very unlucky to me. ;(
I'll keep try to get PS4 stick to my room, but I won't try this in near days.

Would anyone happen to know if the HORI BlazBlue Chronophantasma EXTEND stick will have soldered buttons? Looks like it could be a good option for PS4 if the stick and buttons are easily replaceable.

Trying to figure out what to do for USFIV PS4. Mad Catz sticks seems to be out of stock for a while. The Hori RAP seems to be the only other option, though it would end up being pretty expensive after swapping the internals for Sanwa pending I don't like what it comes with. Eightarc has yet to announce anything, I'm hoping they will soon.

The stick should be able to be modded like any other stick but being a smaller still in general might make it a little more of a hassle for you compared to a HRAP4 and a TE2. I also think it doesn't even come with Horis Hayabusa and the Kuros and cheap generic parts so you're probably going to switch them out anyways.

Your best bet would be to wait it out for a TE2 or for another company to announce something based on your likes IMO.

I heard there was two stick bags for the VLX, which was the better one again??! I found the one from arcade shock's cross promotion already.

There's only 1 "official" bag being sold which is the split frame bag as it's made specifically for it. There was an older Hori bag but I haven't seen those sold new for years.

Qanba has the defender bag which isn't specifically made for it but you can fit ithe n there but it'll be pretty snug.

Feeling real dumb right now. Went through a check of the power supply board for my monitor and what do you know...a fuse was loose! Pushed that in, hooked up the power cord and voila!

We have life!

So now I'll wire it back in to the power supply and, once I get a friend over, lift this thing back into the main cab and put all the pieces together (front glass, hook up speakers, etc). Then I just need to make a new control board, wait for the sticks/buttons to arrive, and wire those up and I'll be good to go!

Here's my ps4 stick. Just have to wire the ps4 controller pcb, (which I got from SRK), and i'm ready to rock!

EDIT: I didn't make this myself in case anyone asks lol.

How essential is a hexagon gate for a TE2? Tried fiddling around with my bulk one and had problems doing anything with Ken reliably

Hexagon is easier for some people that play shotos but with a little practice you should be fine with a square gate. I had a little trouble at first when I started using square gates but it's my preferred gate now as I like to play some charge characters.

Very nice job by the person who did make it! Absolutely love that artwork.

I read something about the PS3 equivalent of this stick having soldiered buttons. If they're not soldiered and easily replaceable, along with the stick, it seems like a good option for me. In the end, it'll be all Sanwa with a pretty nice form factor for under $200.

Picked up an HRAP 4 Kai last week since TE2's are impossible to get ahold of. Love the stick, the buttons not so much.

I know people have replaced their buttons just fine... but is there any way to replace the faceplate to change the stick to a 6-button layout? I'm used to playing with 6 buttons and the extra 2 are throwing me off. I'm admittedly a scrub tho.

thx

Probably easier to buy some blank caps. Any other method I would think involves covering up the entire face.

Blank caps. Of course. That sounds way easier.

Especially since the only reason I had to buy this HRAP is because I somehow fucked up the gate of my old PS3 TE stick when I swapped in the replacement faceplate. =P

Looks like you will need to get different Bios. The Japanese Bios almost work with any board, and work with basically every GD-Rom game if you pick one of those up. You can usually find them pretty cheap on eBay.

Square gates are nice for the DP motion because you can start at D-F, slide the stick to D then slide back to D-F and punch. Makes an easier and smoother transition from block, at least for me. But personal preference is always the key.

He's an IRL friend. Does all of my wiring. :)

I know he's been selling PCBs is why I asked. :P

I have a 360 TE stick. Would like to get it modded for PS4. How do I contact this EJM dude for PCB and a mod by him?

I also got my PS4 TE2 coming today. Excited!

Are you on SRK? He posts stuff there.

I'll talk to him tonight to see if something else can be arranged if you aren't a member of SRK.
