3DS Streetpass Experiences

This thread is killing me that I can't seem to get Homepass working, despite scouring that GBAtemp thread. I've managed to get all the way to the point of my 3DS recognizing that there is a Nintendo Zone nearby, but my PC always BSODs a few minutes after activating nzone.exe

EDIT: Windows 8 with a USB wifi adapter - I don't have any other options that I'm aware of.

I'm really hoping we get a new puzzle soon
And by soon, I mean before Friday.
I'm heading to C2E2 and like all conventions, it's a Streetpass Goldmine.
I have every Pink Piece possible for North America. That's why I'm hoping for a new puzzle (at least I'll help people missing Pink Pieces)

Yeah, only the Splatoon hat for me. That's only 9 hats, not counting the two you get for buying the new Plaza games, then another 2 for beating them.

Can you go to different N-zone locations and pick up 6 StreetPasses at each location or is it once you visit one you have to wait 8 hrs to get another 6 at any location?

It might be easier to pick up a cheap router for under $20 that can run DDWRT.

Yes, you can go to a different nZone location to get more street passes in less than 8 hours. The 8 hour rule applies to a given nZone location.

I bought the two new plaza games... but I didn't get their new hats :/
Weird, they give you the hat & bubble based on the game if you buy it. Maybe you gotta restart Mii Plaza. That's how I got a bunch of bubbles based on the other Plaza games.

You should have gotten them. The Fishing-Boat Hat for buying Ultimate Angler and the Zombie Hat for buying Battleground Z. They should be right near the bottom of your hats list in two of the last four spots.

oh yes I got it - thanks guys!
I wonder why everything else other than the Splatoon Hat and Greeting Bubbles turn up as Blanks today :/

Oh my gosh almost forgot to check my plaza today

I would have missed the
K.K. Slider
hat

It would have been a dark day for me if that happened :(

I think I've got about 200 people in my plaza and I've had my 3ds since about a year after launch. That said, I use streetpass quite a bit, as my wife and most of my friends have a 3ds so I get multiple tags from them all the time.

I think they dedicated the shop contents for the first few days after the update to only new stuff. Tomorrow it'll probably go back to being the old items again – not sure how/when the new stuff will get mixed in.

Homepass really seems like a must for the Angler. To get the
premium passes
, you need foreign streetpasses. That's pretty common with homepass but not really otherwise. They do allow you to buy it for
50 Play Coins
, but that's really steep when Homepass users get it for "free." Seems to be the main "Huh" design decision in Angler I've seen so far. Still experimenting with combining rods to get better ones (like in Monster Mansion) but seems pretty good so far.

any tips on weapons for Monster Manor? I've been using my 98+ DMG Sylvan Striker... but for bosses, it's proving to be really underpowered :/

sorry to bump this up
for Ultimate Angler, is Feeding Frenzy totally random or is there a way to activate it when the sea is glittering?

hmm I can't seem to get the bait I need to catch the challenge fishes :/

Yep! No other hat matters now.

I guess the rest of the new stuff is mixed in with the old stuff?
It should be as so:
24 Wii U, Pirate, Chef, Ninja
25 Horror, Spartan, Cowboy, "Soccer"
26 ?? (I think KK sider), Resetii, Chibi-Robo, Wool Yoshi
27 Splatoon
It shouldn't get mixed into old as what I believe happens is already made purchases are omitted from the list but the order remains the same.

What is true is most of them are old kind of like how you had the Yoshi costume in the first batch when you already have a Yoshi hat from find Mii.

There is 53 purchasable message boxes though (hence needing VIP room to afford them all).

What I'm enjoying the most about the new games is that you can play them and make significant progress even with just one tag. I only got Mii Force from the first batch of games and it was really frustating having to wait until I had at least 3-4 Miis before trying to beat a level.

To my experience, relay points only fill up abit more than half of the vacant slots; most of the times I get only three additional Miis at the second place.

I noticed that when I got home, parked outside one McD's and got my 6 but when I did the same for another one I only got 3.

This is a great way to fill up passes btw, got like 12 plaza tickets now thanks to all these passes, whooooooo =).

sorry to sound like a broken record
but for Ultimate Angler - how in the world do we activate Fish Feeding Frenzy?
the sea is glittering but nothing is happening :O

I absolutely loathed this about Mii Force. Bad design for a game dependent on passing other people.

I'm having fun with both new games, but not having any control over who you hire is weird. It is going to make clearing them completely 100% random.

Another v4.0 change. You can skip stage intro/outro dialogue in StreetPass Squad/Mii Force by pressing B.

Can I not get past the Prelude Island if people keep on having the same shirt colors
Anything that needs say, brown bait is basically impossible when relying on other people. Spend some play coins and hire the cats/dogs as they have a more fair chance of being any colour.

I had hoped mixing bait would help here (given the rainbow swirl pattern) but when I've tried to mix two bait that none of the fish in the current area want I just pull up junk.

In that case I guess glittering is one of the conditions.

I'm a little confused on the reeling mechanics in the fishing game.

Specifically - am I supposed to rotate the control stick until the semi-circular fishing line box is filled in and then... just let off? If you go past the boundaries of the line box, your line can snap. But if you stop reeling, the fish will swim further back out, creating quite the distance gap. To make things worse, there's a timer that eventually kicks in if you don't reel fast enough - I snapped a line because I couldn't let up on the circular motion to reel it in lest the time runs out.

There has got to be some sort of balance with this system that I haven't grasped yet. I've only caught about five fish so far, so maybe getting the hang of it is just something that comes with more practice/time.

Ideally you don't want that semicircular gauge to max out but you can upgrade that to a lot bigger as you find and combine/upgrade other rods. Yeah you just have to let it off keep an eye on the fish icon when it's green get reeling but when it's yellow or red hold off a bit as trying to reel in when red isn't effective and stresses out the rod and line gauge a lot faster.

If you get the green circle gauge on the top right then you have caught a boss fish, you need to get the entire circle gauge filled in red however there is a time limit, when the gauge is full you then have to reel it in. You still have to be careful of the other gauge that you don't break your line. Depending on your rod stats will determine how fast you can get the gauge to fill however if you fail and lose the fish the circle gauge will remember where you got to so when you get the boss fish again it will continue from where you last filled the gauge to making it easier to get the boss fish.

I'm in the UK and I dropped by a Game store today, got the SpotPass notification that I have a special visitor but Shibata hasn't appeared in Mii Plaza.

Any ideas?

You need to get one big area (=many chests) at once. Prepare these by outlining a specific piece.

Looks like I'm going to update after all…

how big is big? I'm already on Level 17 and I've been trying to lay the whole level with as much of the same color as possible

As big as possible. Making the area the same colour sounds like a good strategy, but really it's only half the story. To get the best stuff, what you need to do is maximise the number of chests that appear in placing one piece, rather than just making as big an area as possible.

So if you had a red 4 line piece, this is an example of the pattern you would want to try and get before placing it.

x= occupied red, o = empty

Then place the 4 line piece in the gap in the middle to get large rewards.
