Ultra Street Fighter 4 hits PS4 on May 26th, $24.99: PS3 Stick Support Confirmed!

I already have the game, and all the costumes. It's not a pretty good price...

What...are you talking about? Twice the characters? This is Ultra-- I already have this game on PS3 with all costumes. I've bought every iteration of the game.

Perhaps you guys truly do not know who I am, but if you played this game seriously online as I did, you should recognize my name, I would think.

Number 1 Blanka ring any bells? Or no lol
ok but it doesn't mean it's not a good price.

ok but it doesn't mean it's not a good price.

What doesn't mean it's not a good price?

I haven't presented an argument why it's not a good price in the comment you quoted.

The game is 7 years old. $25 for a 7 year old game? Think about that for a split second.

$15-$17.99 is adequate pricing for this. With how shit I expect the netcode to be, that's more than fair for a game I've spent 7 years of my life mastering.

Soo....its the only Street Fighter game on any next gen console, and it's $25. Grim Fandango is like 20 years old and I paid like $20 for that

Then don't buy it.

Considering that the wild dlc pack costs about half the price of the game on any other platform, and you get all of the dlc to boot, I think it's a great price.

Street Fighter IV (Vanilla version!) is 7 years old.
Ultra Street Fighter IV (latest revision with loads more content than Vanilla) came out in June 2014, so it's not even an year old.

They are not selling you the regular SFIV, they are selling you Ultra, which has 7 years full of revisions, content, characters, lots of skins and the Omega update all for 25 bucks.

It's a great price.

All that is frivolous. It's not a new game, it's on the same engine and has the same stuff in it. Ultra is not a new game, it's a tweaked version of AE, which was a tweaked version of Super which was a tweaked version of Vanilla.

It's a 7 year old game.

And to the cat that said don't buy it: yeah right. I have clan obligations, not to mention I enjoy the game (so much so that I've purchased every iteration of the game since Vanilla).

It has all the costumes, I can think about it all you want but I think 25 is a perfect price for it.

Also to be fair SF4 Ultra came out in June 2014, so it's less than a year old.

If you were to buy the standalone version on ps3 or 360, it was 40 bucks now on ps4 it's 25. that's a good price in my opinion.

Good price.

but......

have they said if they'll allow PS3 sticks for the game yet? I'm still going to have to sit this one out of my HRAP3 can't work. I'm still neither interested in nor ready to buy yet another stick when my existing stick is perfectly fine. I'd rather just wait for it to come to PC or just skip it entirely. I would buy it if my stick does work, but I'm content without it if need be.

Nope, USF4 update cost me $15 over PSN.

Again, $25 is not a good price. Because it's a port, $17.99 would be perfect.

What about $19.95? :P

You know what, I'd probably spend that on a disc version, but I can't rock with spending over 20 bucks for a digital game, especially a 7 year old one that I already have on PS3.

That just screams nickel and dime to me. It seems so many are just willing to swallow the cinnamon, and it's why Capcom even has their dumb ass DLC practices-- we let them.

Usf4 update. Update being the key word here. Lol

The entire game would have cost more.

So what are you even bitching about? You're swallowing the cinnamon.

I think it's an awesome price with a ton of content. If you don't, don't buy it. If you buy it and bitch about the price, then...I really don't get why you're complaining.

Not a huge SF fan but they are pretty fun, hadn't bought one since the original SF4 came out on PS3 so think I'll give it a go for this price.

My friend last night discovered his PS3 stick worked with MKX so I'm certain most sticks will be a-ok.

It's on a game-by-game basis. A guy from LabZero developed a free-to-use driver, but it's up to the developers of each game to actually implement it. MKX clearly did, but Guilty Gear Xrd apparently hasn't, thus far. So it's a toss-up, currently. We don't know either way.

It would be different if this was 40 bucks for a digital version which is what I expected this to be on PS4, SF4 is a 7 year old game but Ultra SF4 is only a year old game and for it to come out for 25.

It's a great deal, I wish they also offered a physical version but I will be buying it day one since it is a great price.

Because if nobody bitches then the companies think it's OK to do these things.

Do you remember horse armor? Yeah, nobody complained, and now look where we are.

I have no choice but to swallow the cinnamon pal. I'm ingrained into the FGC and if I want to remain competitive, I have to buy the constant updates. Back in the day, this stuff was free. So that's why I'm "bitching". Why you bitching about me bitching?

It's a 7 year old game. Ultra is an update-- not a completely different game. Same mechanics, same engine, same everything. Just new characters and balance tweaks.

It's a sad day when adding new characters and costumes makes a game NEW to people. Let me make this simple though: I main Blanka. He's been in the game since 2008. Hence, 7 year old game. I can understand if you got into the game last year and main Rolento. But nah, it's a 7 year old game to most of us.

When was an update to a new console free? It is HILARIOUS that you say this about Capcom of all companies. You don't have to buy these updates and revisions to new consoles. You choose to. And since you keep spending money on the constant updates, you're sending the message that it's okay.

I'm not bitching about you bitching. Do whatever you want. You're the one that asked, "people think this is a good price?" I'm responding. It's funny to me that you're bitching about something you continue to support and enable.

I'm ingrained in the FGC as well. You don't need to buy this game on PS4 to remain competitive. You can continue playing on PS3, or 360, or PC. There's no need to buy this unless you specifically want to play on PS4. It's the same game, as you keep saying, right?

I think this is a great price, and I can't wait to play on PS4. Going to be awesome to be able to share and stream so easily. :)

When was any of this free? You had to pay the full price of a new cart to update from SF2 to SF2 Turbo.

wait so he claims to be the number 1 Blanka and is part of a clan in fighting games or something?

Birdman: when it comes out on PS4 I'll money match you in a ft10.

Id be happy to rebuy this game if ps3 arcade sticks get support. Im not much of a pad player when it comes to fighting games and probably wont bother forking out cash for a stick that officially supports the PS4.

Good point. Good point. They need PS3 arcade stick support or else it's a big "fuck you, pay me" to the fans, from both Capcom and Sony.

Even Madcatz pretend they are cool with you playing on your old sticks, and they're the primary beneficiary of cross-gen incompatiblity ;)

Yeah was going to say if you are supposedly number 1 Blanka but can't justify paying 24.99 if it's something you've put so much time into learning it's same a sure investment as a purchase no? I'd gladly pay €60 for this because it's the best fighter available and I put a lot of time into it.

"I have to buy it because my clan says I have to and Capcom released it so I don't have a choice."

You are a marketer's dream whale.

I understand where you're coming from. And yes, Capcom is nickel and dime-ing the fans but that's how differential pricing works. Casual players may only buy one version of the game and maybe one online upgrade, for a total of $100 or so for 100 hours of gameplay. That's $1/hour.

The hardcore fans who may spend $200 on it (including stick price) and spend 2000 hours on it across a generation. That's only $0.10 / hour.

Why is it unfair to ask the hardcore fans to pay a disproportionate amount for the game?

I am a part of a clan and everyone is moving to PS4 in preparation for SF5-- I'm obligated to do so as well... Sure I could remain on PS3 and be left out, but if I want to remain one of our best players in SF, then I must make the transition. I'm happy to actually. To be clear, I said I was going to buy this... I just don't particularly like the price point.

I was specifically talking about the updates on PS3-- extra characters and costumes used to be unlocked on cart/disc/whatever.

that is a nice price tag.

I mean, on one side, you would expect a low price tag because everyone has to buy it again and they already own it so it seems like the right thing to do...

On the other side... Well... Cacpom

Good for PS4 players!
Although I can't play this game without the excellent modes provided from the community.
They're too good!

A few of my favorites:
Snake, Bayonetta, Darth Vader, Samus and Link.

The quality of the mods is incredible, so much detail and love!

Is there any information if they use the drivers from the Skullgirls creators?
If not, that would be terrible for owners of a PS3 Fightstick.

after watching that video... how much we playing for? 200$? 300$? Lets do this

If those fans play the game 10 times more than the casual

1. Time =/= quality.
2. Stick pricing is definitely not part of this. There are too many variables, like people who build their own sticks on the cheap. That's equivalent to that bunk argument about complaining about needing a TV to play the game, a PS3/4, electricity, etc.
3. How would they be able to tell who's hardcore and who isn't? A checklist? Then everyone would just pick up the cheaper version and that be that.
4. A difference of 10 bucks is not going to kill your bank account.
5. This might be shocking, but not everything is made for you. As a singular person, you are not a special snowflake, nor am I. Games aren't created to suit everyone of your needs and wants - it's a mass appeal thing. All businesses operate like this.

I am a part of a clan and everyone is moving to PS4 in preparation for SF5-- I'm obligated to do so as well... It's like ten bucks from your personal pricing point. And how would you be left out? The input lag fix?

And dude, almost every iteration of SF required you to buy a new cart or game for extra characters, full price. It's not like the costumes were on the disc waiting to be mined (as far as I know), but were added latter. That labor takes money if it's not included into the original release of the game. Some developers do it, but it's a case-by-case basis.

What the hell is going on in here?

Anyway, $25 seems like a dope price for me considering I never bought any version of SF4 and got it and updates for free thanks to friends.
Birdman, you should money match Vulva. I'll double whatever you play for if you win.
I never turn down a match. But am I supposed to be aware of who Vulva is? I ain't saying I'm the best that ever played SF4, but I was/am the number 1 Blanka and had been for a long time. I posted that video to show proof of that, because (I'm guessing) he/she assumed I was lying about being ranked number 1...

That video is not even demonstrative of my skills, I just quickly searched for one of my videos from our clan channel.

Now if you want to fight Vulva, I'm on PS3, send an Endless invite to ANBU_Birdman15 or Th3Birdman15.

Your choice.

I'll play you on PS4 since I'm not fucking with the input lag/shitty infrastructure which is the PS3's network. Otherwise I could play you on Steam since that's working great these days for Endless.

I'm off to an exam right now, but I'm down to this. Just tell me how much you're in for.

So this will be my first sf game as I recently got into the fgc. Can someone share where to get good affordable sticks as I'm completely new to this? Thanks.

Wtf is even going on in this thread???

This is a great price. Granted i don't know or care about the stick situation cause i've only ever played fighters on a controller, but on the face of it, 25 bucks seems plenty reasonable. Picking it up seems obvious to me

I don't know but don't blame me, I didn't call anyone out.

But they might want to stop gassing this dude up. I'm pretty damn good, albeit rusty from my hiatus.
