Fight!

Ok, now by seeing this trailer I think I can see the justification of Wonder Woman and Cyborg being in this. It looks like this was influenced by the Injustice or one of the many story variations where in an alt universe Superman has become his own totalitarian with Cyborg and Wonder being his left and right hands. I don't think he's been killing though.

I don't know that that's what they're doing here. Moreso they're implying that the threat of him POSSIBLY going down that route is very real.

Anyone else have issues getting both posters? The Warner rep at my theater said only 1 since they wanted to keep track of who was winning. I managed to get both since I had an extra ticket that was supposed to go to a friend.

That sucks, my friend and I each got two posters, and the rep was nice enough to give me an additional pass to the free screening so I could sign my wife up as well seeing as she couldn't make it tonight. Definitely glad I went!

And even at Universal the first four rows were largely empty.

Rumours that Scott Eastwood is
Dick Grayson/Nightwing
and that his role in SS is
being undercover for Batman to keep tabs on Waller and see what she is up to

Dunno how reliable superhero feed is, but I guess it makes sense if he is not Steve Trevor. Would be kind of neat.

I could deal with this. I've yet to see anything from the dude but he looks like his father, a more generic and airbrushed version though. If he's got half his dad's ability we'll be alright.

TBH, it looked kinda dumb in motion. I'm hoping for the best cuz Snyder is a master at CGI battles but it was sort of weird to see the computer Batfleck charging Supes. It was so distracting I didn't even notice if Clark was also CGI in that scene. I'm just gonna chalk it up to the movie being really early in the VFX process.

I'm thinking it was hastely thrown together after the leak so that people that went to the event got something extra, that scene probably won't even be in the film.

there was no talk of extra footage for the IMAX event before the leak, the plan was to give a first look at the movie for the people that went to the event and then release it online the day after.

Here's the ant sized version. Brought the brightness up a bit in Photoshop since the original was nearly pitch black. Seeing Supes run like that looks silly.

What the heck is up with Cavill's hair line?

Yes yes I know, thread cycle and all that but it looked liked Black Adam's massive widow's peak

edit: in the GIF

Plus we dont know why Superman is running and not going super speed. It could be because he has been weakened before the fight. There is no way Batman is fighting a fully powered superman here. No freaking way.

That could be the case, the footage certainly seems to fit that description because if anything, it was a bit of a hype deflater with how silly it looked. I hope it's either better in context or gets reworked.

I could have sworn though a day or two before the leak I read the schedule for the showing on CBM which had a bit-by-bit breakdown of the presentation right down to the seconds of Snyder's intro, and middle bits. It was also right about mini posters being given out, though that schedule had the extra scene being placed during the second rolling of the trailer and not the first.

Really dug Man of Steel. Snyder really excels at making stylish, cool action with a strong sense design, and also he seems to really care about the stories and characters he brings to life, so I'm in the theater day one.

If done right, the 3rd act with them team up to take on whatever villain is gonna show up could be amazing. I hope Snyder delivers. It could be a really really awesome moment.

The way that shot looks makes me wonder if that was just something Snyder threw together for the fans while they were filming the fight scene. I wouldn't be surprised if that didn't end up in the final film at all.

"Just run at each other like idiots, that'll make for some neato gifs on the internet". Of course, for all we know there's a contextual explanation for why Supes wouldn't just be using his super speed in that instance.

There's no context that would make sense for him not to smash bats into the ground at super speed.

Because that would likely kill Batman, armor suit or not. Or at least seriously injure him. I can't pretend I know Superman's mindset in this movie but in just about every comic S/B fight Superman is pretty careful about not doing serious harm to Bruce.

Depiction of Superman's speed is incredibly inconsistent in all media, all at mercy of writers.

Sometimes he gets hit by stuff we ourselves can easily dodge, sometimes he shows Flash-like reaction times.

Umm you do realize these are comic book settings right? He could just be weakened because of kryptonite or some other made up reason. Or Batman could have taken the super pill like he does in Injustice to smash superman. They can literally come up with hundreds of reasons.

So Supes is holding back, well that's already stupid, what's the point of the fight. I don't even understand why Batman would feel the need to fight him. He got caught up in some alien racist propaganda and decides to take him on because reasons? I would hope Batman was smarter then.

I kind of like it that the major villain for the film is still not entirely clear. We can pretty much guess that the actual fight between Batman and Superman won't be the climax of the film. Lex is undoubtedly the behind-the-scenes manipulator/puppeteer, but I doubt he'll be the main antagonist for the third act. Because at the end of the movie, one would think you have to have Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman team up to fight someone. And honestly I can't see Snyder having Luthor whip out his Warsuit and start whackin' fools like Jeff Bridges at the end of Iron Man 1.

Right now there are three actors with unspecified roles in the film on the BVS IMDB page - Scoot McNairy, Callan Mulvey, and Bailey Chase. McNairy and Mulvey both strike me as guys who could play some sort of villain (be it on-set or through mo-cap). So right now I'm betting one of those three dudes is playing the film's final bad guy.
Which I believe is rumored to be Doomsday?

Of course, Luthor could always concoct another real estate scheme. Drama.

We don't know motivations, but as far as I can guess, with the firing/parting of ways of Wonder Woman's director, and the tone of this film, DC wants to make their movies be about what it means to be a hero and how they are either loved or feared by who they protect. You have a morale alien that is practically worshipped and has killed, against a human that is most likely feared and hated, but has never crossed that line (as far as we know). It's a clash of ideologies made physical.

If the film makers did anything like "they're fighting cause they fight", THAT'S what's stupid, cause that's not what Superman is about, and it's not what fans expect. The point should never be just to have them fight to fulfill some nerd fantasy that is far from the truth.

I'm sorry, am I only allowed to be positive in this thread?

No, but your objection should probably be more than "why should they even fight if they aren't just going to wail on each other?"

Why is it that people find it hard to believe that 2 heroes with different views can't fight?

And yet people aren't questioning Civil War. Why would iron man fight captain America? The double standards and hypocrisy

Last time I checked Iron man and Cap are not invincible aliens. You literally have a invincible being vs a human with no super powers fighting. Superman has always been OP, that's why people question it. The ONLY reason Batman has ANY chance is because Superman checks himself.

exactly. makes no sense. and you know people will praise that for being so "deep". It's comic books 101.

What happened to that thread where the avengers couldn't stop a the Kryptonians from Man of Steel but we're to believe Batman in a C grade Iron Man suit can stand toe to toe with Superman?

Yes, I'm aware this is based off a comic book storyline in which this happens but it doesn't make this any less dumb.

Did you notice the Superman crests on the swat teams shoulders?

I did, but remember when Superman was sucked down into a pile of skulls in MoS? It's possible it's just a nightmare, it's possible they're a bunch of zealots acting in his name without his consent, it's possible Lex has hired goons to act like his "soldiers" to make him look even worse, or it's possible that... well, he really is going down that road.

We don't really know. We don't know exactly why they're fighting, we don't know exactly whose side we're really supposed to be on, we don't know anything. Not for certain. The movie is a year away.

And yet Iron man and Thor fought in the first avengers movies. He is a God/Alien explain
