Guillermo del Toro confirms he will not be collaborating with Kojima on Silent Hills

The fall of Konami in my eyes.
It's really sad to see.
Hopefully Kojima ends up somewhere nice with the creative control he deserves.

The best hope is that konami is transitioning out of video games and will seek to sell off their brands soon. Opening the door for an independent Kojima studio to partner with someone like Sony to make the silent hills game.

I remember some interview where it was mention that the "President of Konami" asked multiple times to Kojima to make a new Silent Hill, and now this happens.

Something resembling a coup d'état must've really happened at that company...

Goddamn it. I was so looking forward to this game and was hopeful that Silent Hill would be able to reclaim some of the magic it lost after the PS2 era. After the way they handled Castlevania I didn't think I could feel this let down anymore, but this hurts.

Konami, could you please sell your development teams and franchises to someone who gives a shit about them? K, thanks.

LOL nice mod behavior here. ideas implemented into the game, i.e. gameplay, pacing, environments, are put into play sometimes years before a game is complete. Its incredibly naive to think kojimas fingerprints aren't already on this game depending how far along the game was.

LOL nice completely not understanding.

It's not in development. That you are calling me naive when you do not understand that it is NOT A REAL GAME is mind boggling.

Dammit Konami. PT was incredible, I really wanted to play this :(

Someone (Sony?) throw some money at Kojima and Del Toro to make a horror game together. PT didn't need the Silent Hill IP to work.

Most of the boycotts are "I'm not buying any more Konami games... after MGSV" so I wouldn't worry because it sounds like no one here is actually boycotting the company.
I hope thats the case because i cant see how a boycott is going to help anything at all. Definitelly sucks for those who wants a new Silent Hill game though, but i cant see how a boycott would help.

So Sony, how about you get in touch with Kojima and Del Toro (and Reedus, though he can be more of an after thought since he's "only" starring in the game) and give those guys some funding to finish this project they wanted to make?

You quite obviously already had some sort of involvement (be it just marketing) in the original project, so why not just continue it under a different name? You've seen the potential this has thanks to the immense success of PT.

As an added bonus you can even have the original creator of Silent Hill work on it as well.

And as a final fuck you to Konami you can call the game Quiet Mounts: A Hideo Kojima Game or something. After all what's Konami going to do, not like they have a lot of bargaining power at this point (if they're even mad about this).

I'd love to say that I'd boycott, but a Suikoden would change everything for me. Konami doesn't seem to be in the RPG business these days, so I guess we may never see if my resolve is put to the test

Hi, Sony here

We'll think about it.

jk, I want it to happen as badly as you do.

Why not both? You can get KojimaPro and Team Silent. Each to add their own unique spin to the game

Because the "team" has and always was mostly revolving members. People who are situated in different parts of the industry now. Hell. the creator of the series only worked on the first game.

More likeely than getting the "team" back together would be for Ito to be contracted for art design, Akira for music, and maybe Owaku as a story supervisor or writing contributor.

So this is trending like crazy with 200k tweets ? is this like the cumulative number of tweets with P.T or what ?

Sony should try to get the IP and let Miyazaki direct Silent Hills with del Toro, if Kojima doesnt want to.

#ThingsThatNeverWillHappen

I honestly think Miyazaki is like THE PRIME candidate for a Silent Hill director.

I don't think anyone could possible do it better.(Apart from Team Silent obviously)

But then again its nearly impossibly unlikely that such a thing might happen.

Aaaarghhfff, screw this. Don't even know what to say. Really didn't want to believe this Kojima/Konami mess was real but... ):

Sad day

Do we still not know what went down with Kojima and Konami?

What I don't get is why the kept "Controls, setting and other elements will differ in the final game" on the official P.T. website. Unless they simply forgot to remove that. Anyway, let's wait and see. I'm not optimistic, but things are too crazy now to reach a conclusion.

I don't know, that's a pretty tall order considering the original team is still alive and kicking.

Toyama who created the series is currently at Studio Japan and his Siren games have been very good, although the brand isn't as strong. If they got the IP and some key members like Yamaoka behind them some good things could happen.

I meant apart from Team Silent obviously...Their work is untouchable and we'll probably never again get the exact flavour they concocted with the first four games.

You actually think Kojima has done anything with Silent Hills beyond PT so far? With how MGSV development has been?

lololololol

They managed to have the probably best marketing move for a horror game, ever, and now this.

At least we got P.T. out of it (if you downloaded it already :P )

Sony, snatch up Kojima and the hollywood contacts and make Sirens.

It's incredibly easy to boycott a company if they don't make the games you want to play any more. Metal Gear Solid is going to die off without Kojima. It might hang around Weekend At Bernie's style, as a corpse puppet, but who wants to play that? They haven't made a decent Castlevania since the first Lords of the Fallen and they abandoned the classic Castlevania style ages ago. Silent Hill is probably dead now. None of their other classic franchises are around any more.

Unless you're really into PES or lame Japanese gambling, what do you even want to buy from Konami? Maybe Metal Gear Rising 2, assuming that isn't also dead without Kojima.

Fuck you Konami. I have no words. Except those.

And well, genuine fucking outrage I mean fuck! This is disgusting, and Silent Hills needed to happen because well Silent Hill as a series has been in a huge fucking slump for years now and Kojima, Del Toro, and Reedus were going to save it.

You couldn't have that though, you just couldn't let it happen.
