Halo 5 Guardians: #huntthetruth

Blue Team is the Chief's old team, so they're obviously on his side. Locke has his own team.

In the picture Chief and his team are on the left side, under Locke's head. It's confusing.

When the tagline is 'There Are Two Sides to Every Story' I don't find it that confusing - foreshadowing that they may start in opposition but be forced to work together during the course of some larger threat?

Plenty of ways to interpret it!

I wonder if there is a big team battle mode with two spartan squads with special abilities and the rest of the players are marines or something less than the leading squads.

So is the blue team everyone is excited for on locke's side?? Who are the Spartans on chief's side???

Okay, sorry for my confusion. In the poster on locke's side you see blue team (under locke) This includes John (Master Chief) Fred, Linda and Kelly. On John's side in the poster (under John) This includes Locke and 3, we think, other spartan IVs, to which we can only speculate who they are at this point.

Well the Multiplayer is a virtual simulation/war games- I doubt that they'd square off Spartans vs regular umaugmemted humans, even in training simulators. At least, not in something we'd experience as players.

I think it's just for a nice aesthetic design- Blue Team is opposite of Locke's squad. Locke is opposite of Chief. The true threat is center, but in the background because it's not the immediate focus from the start.

That could be pretty interesting actually. An asymmetric mode with a small team of 4 Spartans with all the abilites vs 8 or 12 marines without the abilities or shields etc.

Lore wise, it would be a good way of training the marines. Pit them against the best of the best and see if they can win.

Okay so I'm not up on Halo lore beyond the games what's the difference between Spartan IIS and Spartan IVs???

Chief looked like a giant compared to the others during the ending of Halo 4.

Really exciting to see how the Guardians tag line ties into the game as a whole. I understand that it could be literal for a faction of forerunner tech similar to the sentinels, but Halo has always had little undertones where things mean more than face value.

I really hope the game itself has a strong story, and not have these undertones and ideas buried.

Spartan 2's - Abducted children trained and genetically modified to be the perfect super soldier.

Spartan 4's - Adult Volunteers

Oh man! I haven't been in this thread in a while, but wow at the news of Blue Team being in the game... I just... unghhh.

Should be super awesome to see all of them in the game, and what happens with Lockes team.

Spartan II were selected unique individual abducted at age 6 and trained on warfare to be the perfect soldier and augmented age 12-13. Spartan III followed the same idea but at a higher rate of speed. They were put into active duty at age 12-13 if I recall correctly. There were throw away soldiers mostly sent on suicide missions. Spartan IVs are volunteers, normal people.

I just know I'm not going to like the Locke character. Hes an antagonist to the Chief, which is a character very dear to my heart. He better not be getting set up to replace the chief. No one will replace the chief. Master Chief is Halo damnit. Rant done.

He's going to replace Chief the same way the Arbiter did.

he's not.

Thank you

So if the IVS aren't genetically modified like the IIS how the hell does Locke think he gonna take out the Chief and blue team lol

Gonna be real interesting to see I hope 343 delivers since I'm mainly buying halo 5 for the story

While accurate, this is a little unfair to the Spartan IVs. They invited the elite of the serving UNSC military to join the program. Combat tested veterans of the covanent war. "normal people" sounds a little weak.

Thank you

The 4's are enhanced as well, just supposedly not to the extent as the 2's from what I understand? Not sure if that was ever gone into. The spartan 3's were enhanced soldiers but not to the same level as the 2's and they also were given weaker armor to reduce costs and help increase the rate of their production.

Thank you

Spartan IVs ARE modified, but not to the same degree as the S-IIs.
I believe that Frank O'Conner said in an interview that their armour is better, putting an armoured S-IV on a similar playing field to an armoured S-II.
Unarmoured they aren't in the same league though.

Thank you

Advances in the suit tech. A spartan IV fully kitted out is roughly a match for a spartan II, but if you take off the suits a spartan II will smear a spartan IV all over the pavement.

Adding to this, the 3's were also volunteers, rather than abducted members of the genetic crème de la crème. War orphans, generally.

I believe you, but where was that said? Did Josh say that or something?

It was jossed in a Canon Fodder, but in addition to that, the measurements don't line up - War Sphinxes were described as relatively smaller (but still fairly large) instruments with more compact builds and a "single eye" (which can be seen in Composer at some point), while the weird space phoenix thing is exponentially larger than any other "infantry" vehicle we've heard of in the Promethean registry and also seems to have a binocular "face."

Really? Could have sworn they were given a choice whether or not to join, even if for most it was more of a formality.

You may be thinking of the Spartan-IIIs, which were given a choice - but even so, their choice was basically "become super-soldier" or "stay an orphan."

We saw an eye of the War Sphinx in Halo 4.

It's in Halseys lab on Composer, where you fight the 2 Hunters, for those curious.

lol what if the bird is Cortana? Wouldn't be surprised

I want her to stay dead. Force Chief to bond with fellow meatbags/Blue Team again. Plus the impact of her death means less if they just pull some space magic to bring her back.

And for the love of god, DO NOT go Full Mass Effect and put her in a robot lady suit.
