My biggest hopes for Halo sequels going forward was either Blue Team coming back or for 343 to have had Master Chief and the Spirit of Fire get sucked into the same Shield World and be re-united.

If Jerome, Douglas, and Alice get thrown into all this ...

Master trole speculation: physical scopes indicate that the weapon uses H5G beta-esque aim down sights. If a weapon lacks a scope, it uses traditional Bungie-era zoom functionality - after all, with the information smart-linked to the suit's cameras in the first place, there's no need for a conventional weapon-mounted scope. Locke doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would use a BR and not zoom in with it. Also has me thinking Fred will use the classic scope for his DMR - it honestly looks way better without a scope.

My main beef with the RvB fights is that they feel so... disembodied, I guess. Even if they were mocapped, nothing felt like it had a really substantiated weight to it, even in fully-CG environments like the fights in RWBY. The trailer with Locke from not too long ago was way more in line with what I'd want out of that general fighting style.

Halo Reach style. Blue Team on one side of the statue, Locke's team on the other. Wouldn't make sense when trying to display but damn does it sound good.

I don't think any of the RvB fights were mocapped but I could be wrong. I thought Monty just hand animated them all .

Also, Kurt-051 became head of the Spartan III training program. The shield world Onyx (largest known Forerunner installation by far) was given his last name as UNSC designation - Trevelyan. One of the only Spartan IIs that Halsey reveals the real last name.

I already feel salty that there's even a remote possibility that a S-II could be killed by one of these production line, silver spoon fed, undisciplined newbs!

So James is the only one that is truly MIA, right? Chances are that he probably died out there in space, but if he came back to be the current Blue Team's 5th member, I think I would explode out of excitement.

Blue Team has more gender variety, but Team Locke has more racial diversity. Romeo's West African and possibly mixed going off his last name (Agu), Locke himself is from Jericho VII, and then you possibly have the black / east Asian Tanaka.

Blue Team suffers from Mighty Whitey Syndrome.

I can't really get my head around why the visors would be so different, canonically. Some of them I get. Special optics for snipers. Extended range for zero gravity even. But the other differences seem completely cosmetic and detrimental to protection. A V shape, cool dude glasses, etc. I don't get it. Lockes might actually make the most sense, as they're close to his eyes, so the shorter amount of glass would not impede vision, while his head is given better protection.

I like them looking different - I just don't get why they would be designed that way in-universe.

Honestly, I think if that happens it'll be more because of a full-scale attack from the military (or Covenant zealots) rather than on a one-on-one with an SIV (or sniper shot, etc).

Besides, I'm not sure that 343i wants us to hate SIVs.

I imagine that it's got more to do with the rest of the helmet than with the visor; depending on what kind of tech and armor you want to cram in there, the space allocations are going to change.

Some of them are just rank silliness, tho. Like FOTUS (Unicorn Horn!) and the one that looks like an old diving bell.

EDIT: Oh, and Venator, but that one's awesome so it gets a pass.

You could potentially chalk some of that up to certain armor sets needing cameras in place of space glass visors, placement of said cameras (see Gungnir), room to house the actual hardware of the helmet, etc.

In fact, you might argue that in terms of AAA games, Halo 5 looks like it could be one of the most progressive in the industry ATM

Capable soldiers of all varieties.

But those Spartan IIs tho

This might be a dumb question but why is Blue team shown underneath Locke's head, and Locke's team is shown underneath Chiefs head? It's bugging me xD

Wasn't his hair brown according to Fall of reach? And the scanned trailer, and every other depiction of him? correct me if i'm wrong, really please do. But I just ran through Halopedia Halo nation and wikipedia real quick, no mention of red hair. And from pure memory I remember brown hair from Fall of Reach.
 
Man i wish i could get excited for Halo 5 :/

This new poster looks cool and all but i have my doubts that 343 can pull of a campaign that doesnt require books and comics to understand the story etc.

Locke and John are each under the other too, if you look. It's just showing the opposition.

Having John under John and locke under Locke would look dumb.

Their real last names? Because I remember they were given fake last names by the military and only Halsey knew their real ones. I remember her correcting someone about in Kilo-5 when they decided on the name for Onyx.
 
Locke's men have the Master Chief and his team kneeling before them, ready to meet their shocking fate. Suddenly, a blue glow slices through the view. Locke's head falls from his body, which collapses to its knees in slow-motion... The Arbiter shimmers into view, as his active camouflage deactivates. The Master Chief rises. Blue Team decimates the remaining Spartan IVs as they tremble in shock.




And then there's some great dialogue. I can't for the life of me think of anything, though.
 
Lmao I've only just clicked that the 'not-war sphinx' is now shown on the planet. So it did the devastation. So Chief goes to wherever and wakes this thing up and it decides to rage on a planet. I guess that's why Locke was blaming him for the destruction in his quest to find whatever.

Sorry if I'm mad late to the party on that one :D

The gold suit? Did it say anywhere what the cultural significance was? The silver suit of the Arbiters, it makes sense to cast away with the Prophets gone, but where did the gold come from, was it an old Sangheili design or something?

Well one potential piece of that, briefly touched upon in Halo: Reach, is as more and more prototype kit became available for MJOLNIR, the Spartans themselves started customizing their armor to accommodate their own preferences. Realistically, the 'differences' have only amounted to a bit of flavor text from a gameplay perspective, but I like the idea of these apex soldiers being able to tweak their gear to match their particular strengths and approaches.
