Halo 5 Guardians: #huntthetruth

Oh wow, I haven't been completely paying attention to this but are the surviving Spartans from the books really appearing in the game?? Megaton.

Speaking of which was there ever a book that followed up from the events in Ghosts of Onyx?

Yeah, it's called Glasslands and it sucks

Don't listen to the abject hate in this thread. The Kilo Five Trilogy (Glasslands is book 1) is an excellent read, and gives a lot of insight to where ONI is headed and why, not to mention introduces one of the best new characters in the franchise,
BB
.

Well, Mortal Dictata is kind of boring.

Pretty sure the forerunner bird will be tied to the Janus Key from SpOps/Escalations. Probably something that gets awoken via the storm covenant, might be why the banshees look like they're flying away from it.

Abject hate? Lol I bought the book on day one, never was more excited for a Halo novel. It was crap. So disappointing. BB I alright tho

Kinda looks like the Banshees are fighting with it.

I'm sure we'll get some details about that tv show at e3 but man I want it nowwwww

Truth be told after Nightfall I kind of hope that the TV show is dead. Unless Spielberg himself is actually directing (He isnt) and somebody like Nylund or Staten was writing it (They arent) it isn't going to be done well.

I've long been an advocate for live action Halo because I am convinced it can be done correctly but that involves too many things to line up correctly.

Nooooo. It's so good.
I loved the dynamic between a certain spartan and spoiler character. And BB's character arc was so well done.

I honestly couldn't bring myself to finish it. The Kig-Yar characters were so tedious.
Staffan was cool, but I wasn't invested enough in Naomi for it to be emotionally powerful for me.
And the fact that the trilogy set up so much conflict with the Sangheili civil war that it didn't bother to conclude bothered me too much.

Dont listen to blind fanboyism in this thread. Kilo 5 trilogy is a standard karen traviss series which should really tell you enough already.

I thought Naomi was a pretty cool character and
the arc between her and her father
was interesting but it was hard to finish the last book, I just started losing interest.

Glad it's not open world. Open world games rarely have satisfying campaigns. Halo is known for its great set pieces so I would much rather have the polished linear progression of the past games. Sick of the constant "go open world or go home" mentality in a lot of game communities.

You like literally EVERYTHING about Halo lore tho, lol. I don't think I've seen you say anything negative about it. Popular opinion is definitely not in favor of Glasslands.

yeah i just had to say again i really appreciate the gender and racial diversity of this game

Chief is the only white male among both teams..i believe

Fred and Buck are white dudes. You're right, though, the diversity is refreshing

Fred and Buck say otherwise but having 3 women and multiple ethnic groups is pretty great.

Agreed 343%. Halo has always been pretty great about having a good mix of gender and race in the forefront, but it's only gotten even richer as of late. It's a very welcomed thing. Really helps sell the fiction of the UNSC being a global/galactic establishment of all races.

now out of the 8 people on both teams..is it fair to say Chief is the greatest of all them in terms of just accomplishments?

combat ability is a different question entirely?

Oh there's things I nitpick about here and there, and I definitely am not happy with how the MCC online components were handled, but as far as the lore goes, I can't argue with you haha... I greatly enjoy all of it.

Glasslands retroactively ruined Fall of Reach for me.

For that, it will go down as the single worst thing I've ever read.

Reading Glasslands also caused my first born son to perish of boils and rot.

Wait, how did it ruin FoR for you? Did it ruin Ghosts of Onyx for you as well?

I meant Ghosts of Onyx.

That's how badly it ruined everything. I went into a state of shock and reverted to acknowledging only the existence of pre-Ghosts of Onyx books.

Whoa whoa whoa, hold up. Ghosts of Onyx wasn't great, but it was pretty solid. What didn't you like about it?

No, I enjoyed Ghosts of Onyx. Loved it even.

But the way the plot was "tied up" in Glasslands. That was awful.

Ghosts of Onyx had me so excited for what came next in the Halo universe. Glasslands took that and did unimaginably horrific things to it. Unlike the previous Halo books, it felt like it had no ambition at all. It wanted to take the previous plot points, tie them up so they could get to where it wanted to go, which I didn't care for at all.

Fred,Linda,or Kelly probably have the best chance to take chief down but I doubt they'd ever fight. Chief is a hyper lethal vector and has faced things worse than these iv's have seen(as far as we know). He's been in the game way longer than any of those guys.

yes chief has done the most in accomplishments. But in terms of combat ability he isn't the best. For example Fred is stronger and bigger than Chief. Linda is a better sniper. Kelly is faster. Chief is known for his strategic and tactical ability. I don't know too much about the other characters. But Chiefs team vs Locke would be close, chiefs team would pull ahead to win in the end. The main reason being that its spartan 2s vs 4s

Don't forget Chief's best quality. Luck.

Why are the Spartan II's on Locke's side? What did I miss?

Didn't miss anything. Pretty sure it's just placed that way for artistic reasons.

As happy as I am to see us getting Blue Team, it's a scary thought knowing that they can mishandle the entire team with this one game. Hope they do the team some justice after all these years.

Now you're making me doubt stuff... that's a good point sadly.

I totally love the art for all the Spartan IIs, too. So good. The Spartan IVs are okay, but not as great.
