Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

As for 2:54 AM, I now have my shipping status and order confirmation from Arcadeshock with tracking number for the:

1x HORI RAP4 Premium VLX KURO Controller PS4/PS3 with Touchpad - Ship Double Boxed

Hype.

My order status hasn't changed. Still unfulfilled...when did you place your order?

Question. Im somewhat of a novice on arcade sticks. I recently bought a Hori Rap4 for the PS4. I'm not a fan of the stock joystick. I have an old Seimitsu LS-56 on my Mad Catz TE1 stick. Would I be able to use the Seimitsu LS-56 on my Rap4?

If not, can you recommend a similar joystick that works on the Rap4?

An LS-56 will fit seamlessly! Just open the stick up, remove the 4 screws holding the Hayabusa and replace it with the LS-56.

On Shoryuken it was said they won't ship til Friday, from Arcade Shock. Too bad. But atleast that confirms the shipping notifications don't really mean anything yet.

Will be a while til it gets here then.

Won't ship until friday? That kind of sucks I was hoping to have it by the weekend. Oh well a few more days doesn't matter too much.

So because of MKX, I'm looking to finally upgrade my MadCatz SE stick's buttons to something decent (and maybe the stick itself too.) Any suggestions of both what to buy and from where (that ships to Canada)? Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated, of course.

Some specifics: I find the standard SE buttons too mushy, so I'm looking for more traditional, "clicky" buttons with good feedback. I'm not looking to spend a fortune either, so a good bang-for-your-buck option is ideal.

Just grab some sanwa buttons. Seimitsus are more "clicky" than Sanwa, but it's just preference at that point. Sanwa are pretty much de facto. Not sure about shipping to Canada. Focusattack and arcadeshock have been my go to guys recently.

No shipping email from arcade shock yet here. BTW, when I think back to Street Fighter 2 arcade machines, I don't remember the joystick clicking all the time like these Fightsticks. Why is that?

Because they were american happ parts. Don't know the technicalities myself, but know they're built entirely different from the Japanese parts in most modern fightsticks.

Old school US cabinets used Happ (now Suzo Happ) and iL parts. MAS Systems makes sticks similar to those cabinets, you can read more about them here:

The Mortal Kombat PDP sticks are in the same style, though with an MK layout.

I would kill for a standard 6 or 8-button stick with HAPP-style concave buttons. But it's damn-near impossible to find :/

Edit: So MAS are a smaller manufacturer... guessing they won't be cheap to get to Australia. Shit.

Hey people! I was of thinking of swapping out the stock buttons on my HRAP 4 Kai ( and maybe the stick as well) for some Sanwas. Is there anything I need to do beforehand so that I don't catastrophically mess up?
I'm still pretty new to the arcade stick scene and even more so to modding

Hey everyone...

Ive decided I want to build my own PC arcade stick from scratch. The case itself is not a problem as I have a lot of cabinet building experience, ill be building it out of MDF with a CNC router and the top surface out of laser cut acrylic.

I have never had an arcade stick and I don't have any experience with the various components. I've read the slagcoin guide but I wonder if you guys could critique my shopping list. I want to make sure everything I get will work well with each other.

Thanks!

Not really. It's pretty simple really. Just unscrew the bottom, remove the button connector cables, squeeze the button latches to pop them out, put in the new ones and reconnect. Just don't yank the cables wildly, and you'll be fine. Just keep track of what color cables connect to each button, so maybe just change one at a time. It's hard to mess up.

hey all, I've had a ps4 for a few months now, and my life is still devoid of xrd. now i am going to fix that and will start by buying a hrap4 kai. does anyone here know where is the cheapest place that ships to canada?

Just got an email from Hori USA for my VLX's confirming that my order placed on Feb 28 is complete. However, it says no tracking numbers have been assigned to my order at this time.

I thought the Kai would have some way to identify which cable is which. IT DOES NOT. I unplugged 3 buttons before I realized that.

On a side note, test your stick before fully assembling it back together.

My Venom PS3/PS4 stick came in today and I'm pretty happy with it. The case itself looks and feels a lot nicer than I expected considering the price - as someone who has used a MadCatz SE and a Hori VX-SA in the past, the width of the case is somewhere in between those two and feels very comfortable on my lap.

As for the stock parts - the included stick seems fine? Right now I don't have any issues with it but I'm ready to swap it out with a JLF if it feels like it's dropping inputs. I will say I swapped the buttons right away, because the stock buttons felt mushy - button swapping felt fine, OBSF-30s snap in perfectly. I will say I tried putting in a Seimitsu PS-14 button to see if it would fit and it does not, at least not with the plexiglass cover on top of the case. Still, most people use Sanwa buttons so I imagine that won't be an issue for most.

Also it works on USF4 PC just fine, so that's nice.

I've only had it for a few hours, but it seems like a good deal considering it's by far the cheapest PS4 stick I've found. I got it for $95 shipped from Amazon DE.

I've been more focused on the VLX so I sort of forgot that I'm suppose to get the TE2 a little earlier. I remember that my stick was suppose to ship on April 27th but I still haven't been charged nor have I received any email about it.

MarkMan, any idea when those late April shipments are suppose to ship?

Got my shipping notification from A-S. Will obviously be a long while til it gets here. I was mistaken thinking it was getting shipped with FedEx. With USPS I'm probably looking at 1-2 weeks. Bleh.

Alright!! PS4 VLX x 2 shipping email here with double box and FedEx tracking. And PS4 USFIV is right around the corner. Do you guys think everyone will migrate to the PS4 for Street Fighter?

Nah, but should be a good number of people there. Especially at that price.

I think the general assumption is that PS4 is going to be the new standard fighting game console going forward, due to a combination of Capcom's exclusivity and the fact that PS4 versions generally run better than Xbone. EVO delcaring that USF4 PS4 is going to be the new tournament standard definitely ended up being a huge impetus for a lot of people to get PS4 sticks, myself included.

I don't know if everyone who currently plays USF4 PS3 is going to migrate to PS4 but I imagine a large chunk of people will considering the port is only $25.

Project Mk.IV Complete! :D

Triplemodded my previously dualmodded (Paewang) PS360 stick.
Added switchboards to the Paewang.
Bolted on a Hori Fighting Commander 4
Cut a hole next to the already added Home button on the back for a switch that selects which board the stick is using.

Trusty 1996 Namco PSX stick still has life left in it for the next 10 years! :D

I've been thinking about cancelling my TE2 order to get the PS4 VLX, but I wouldn't be able to order it until after it's already officially released.

What would the chances be of me getting it May if I do that?

The hori store and arcadeshock still have some available as of right now for preorder. How much stock that is I am not sure. I would think you would be able to snag one if you really wanted to.

Edit: I think the rest of arcadeshocks inventory is reserved for SCR and EVO, if you plan on attending those you should be able to purchase one if you get there early enough.

Won't be able to order until Saturday, so here's to hoping!

At the very least, it's not like I'll be unhappy in any way with the TE2.

Damn it, wrong thread.

BTW, I did get my email from Hori about my VLX. Still no word on the TE2 though. It looks like Mad Catz might be a little late on those pre orders.
