Destiny House of Wolves Reveal Thread

Eh, as someone who generally enjoys playing online games by himself, I suppose Trials of Osiris isn't for me. Great for those who are into teamwork-driven multiplayer, I suppose.

Also, I've yet to understand Bungie's reasoning behind not allowing match-making for both the Raids and now this. I mean, why impose such silly restrictions on the players? At least give us the option.

If such limitations are placed on us, why not allow people to purchase parts of this DLC separately. I would still like to play the new story missions and co-op mode, but as someone who isn't really into competitive multiplayer, a third of this expansion is essentially made irrelevant to me.

watching this pvp stream. I have a lot of concerns. It's just deathmatch again on the same maps we've been fighting on over a hundred times.... I'm honestly very disappointed.

Sure, it looks like it will be fun but its a minor skirmish deviation

Man was hoping for something a bit more creative. Oh well, I've already been playing other games for pvp. will just continue to do so. Think I might eventually phase out Destiny because the future is looking bleak

Going to try to reserve final judgement to see what DGAF thinks after it goes live.

He's doing his best. He's a good guy, I just don't think he's the best fit for the job.

I liked Urk/Luke/Frankie's PR/writing style much more than his.

DS4 is a great controller, until the right trigger inevitably craps out. It's 100% guaranteed to happen. Kind of sours me on the entire system as I refuse to buy a new $60 controller every few months.

Yeah, community manager's I dunno, style/MC skills I guess, is SUUPER forced, and obnoxious. Just completely uninviting.
And yeah, I've already had to use the pencil trick on my DS4 which I've only owned for a couple months now :/

Vidpixel, there have been twenty page threads arguing about the inclusion or not of teammate matchmaking here before, and nothing came of the discussion. That said, I agree 100%. It's really unfortunate.

Matchmaking will pit you against teams that have the best connection and lowest latency, rather than teams with a similar skill level.

i'm watching to see what the dlc is about, sold the game a while back.
The DLC is really about goat heads, skyscraper hopping and giant cannons.

Fireteam Chat on IGN had a great alternative mention for match-making in raids.

A new player to VoG or Crota has to finish it at least 3 times in an organized raid. After 3 finishes, they can now match-make the raids by themselves.

Who comes up with the game types over there? Lets all hide behind spawn with thorn/final round/invis and crossmap each other whenever someone is stupid enough to advance.

The lack of matchmaking is a serious turn off for me. I am so tired of finding randoms to play with. Every one of my friends who I started playing Destiny with has quit the game already.

One thing I always said for pvp is that no one should spawn with special ammo at all, and make the special ammo respawns slower.

match making would suck bad in this mode. I can only imagine being 8 wins into your ticket and having a random leave or shit up your game.

I'd really be more ok with no-matchmaking for so many activities if they patched in some actual LFG options. You'd think that would have been a QoL priority for their game based around social experiences, but here we are. On DLC expansion two and barely a mention of the possibility beyond "We're listening".

Agreed agreed agreed.

But if both options were available what stops stopping you from pre grouping with friends anyway? Or am I missing something?

Going after the COD audience? This is search and destroy with revives. There's even a medal called the ace for killing the entire team yourself.

I've always said the bar in the basement of the Tower should be an LFG area where you only go there if you are looking for a group, so people can go down there and invite randoms without having to ever go outside of the game.

Lol its not.
It is not hard to find teammates on X1 if you want random PUGs from LFG sites, but looking for quality people on GAF is impossible, even on Tuesdays.

Sorry, I don't have 4 hours to spend doing VoG every week with random LFG doods who never know what they're doing.

A third person that I'm actually forced to talk with and try to engage in banter? absolutely

I only talk with my friends in Destiny. If I am doing Vanguard strikes, I just play on mute. I expect my teammates to know the battles, lol.

No problems here. So many players that we sometimes we need to make 3 groups.

If Bungie doesn't add matchmaking to Prison of Elders, I'm done spending money on this "service"/"platform" or whatever the heck the vision of Destiny is supposed to be after HoW is released.

I'm tired of "end game" content being locked because I don't have the personal time to find a group, let alone a consistent group.

I played CoD: AW for hours yesterday. CoD is a long ways past what I'm watching in this stream. CoD: AW has a wide variety of game modes, lots of different weapon types, map voting, random matchmaking, and good rewards for your time. Heck- the build your own class feature is so good it almost rivals Destiny's classes custimization.

That's great for you, but that's not the case for a lot of people (including me). Even with a decent amount of DGAF on my friends list, I often only have about an hour/hour and a half during a very specific amount of time and I don't have time to wait/organize people for half an hour if I want to get any real amount of game time in.

Agreed. No matchmaking is beyond dumb. Just matchmake random players vs random players, and parties vs parties. It's pretty friggin simple.

For the price you pay for this kind of DLC there should be a mode for matchmaking to earn smaller prizes, keeping the ticket system for the big stuff.

I am confused as to why this kind of multiplayer mode costs so much to buy, half the price of the retail game for a counter strike mode.
