There's Now an E3 Press Conference For The PC, Hosted By Day9 [Up: More Devs]

Dang, I wish that was a thing!

x86 tablets man
We are SO close
All we need is for someone to make a proper controller shell with full xbox 360 controller functionality, usb mini port and that works with xbox 360 controller drivers and we are there.

x86 = access to the entire pc back catalog and all future pc releases
almost all pc games already come with 360 controller support
the input drivers are already there
x86 socs are there
There is literally no barrier to entry for a hardware manufacturer

It's f ing mind blowing that noone has gone there... it would be huge and the hardware is already 100 percent there and ready, all they have to do is use an intel cherrytrail soc
I wish I had the resources samsung or HTC have, I'd have already made and released this thing and be first to market and taken the 3ds's lunch.

cfr: nvidia and the shield: nvidia make their own hardware, they can't license x86 patents to make their own x86 soc so they went with their own android based (so worthless) tegra soc instead and tried some half ass solution to making it a portable pc (streaming)
It was obviously a worthless fundamentally flawed approach due to them not having access to the x86 license.

no Valve and an AMD logo appearing on the card has me worried

I really hope that Blizzard goes all out with Starcraft 2 Legacy of The Void at E3! They really really need the hype it badly since there is almost no interest in the beta :/

Interesting, but I'm curious what this will actually manifest as. Most of those companies tend to make their announcements on the established console stages, Three hours is also long as hell, so I expect plenty of padding through gameplay demos, etc.

You could stream games to your win 8 tablet with steam, so there's that.

Oh good, GIG is finally presenting at something other than their own gatherings. Should be interesting.

Too bad that Valve won't be there.

You mean like this ?

It's fun when biggest companies in GPU space act like little children. Doesn't explain why Valve isn't there as they are huge in PC gaming space, or they just haven't announced their presence yet.
I don't understand what your point is. So every company should participate in PC Gamer's shit?

pc taking a dump in console backyard. that's cool. since it sounds like it's going to be going on in the middle of the night for europe like 3 - 4 people are going to watch this. and I'd say half those companies are only there for the "me too".

but yeah, pretty cool.

No Bethesda on the floor lends credence to the rumors that Fallout 4 might be an Xbox One exclusive. This time Spencer has gone too far.

I doubt Bethesda hates money so much that they would make something like Fallout 4 exclusive to smallest platform of the generation.

Goes more back into my hate towards all this proprietary tech [TressFX, PhysX etc.] that is designed around specific HW [AMD or Nvidia] and if you don't own said HW you are in for garbage performance. Then if we assume that Nvidia isn't in this event because AMD is driving this boat, along with PC Gamer, it just adds to it.

Would it kill AMD and Nvidia to develop some tech and stuff together?

Might be a good time to show off PC versions of their games. I remember E3 2013 where the majority of the big announcements were multiplatform games that were releasing on PC, and were demoed using the PC versions, yet audiences had no idea because nothing was mentioned about that version until hours later when the press releases were being sent out. Now at least there's a platform to confirm all those "first to console" games that are usually littered throughout Microsoft and Sony's conferences are indeed coming to PC.

To be honest Valve really squandered the opportunity to hold a steam conference at E3. It would have put Steam/PC gaming on the forefront at E3.

PC Gamer is doing the right thing. This could really help PC gaming for a variety of reasons.

Rather Valve did exactly the right thing.

The moment PC gaming is pushed / marketed like consoles by a perceived platform holder, they would get the same tired console crap of faux exclusivity of games simply to withhold them from the platform. PC being seen as agnostic has been working just fine

I am very interested to see what is in the store. The big publisher conferences have traditionally been very console-centric and PC has been more on the sidelines.

What excites me more is the possibilities for E3 2016. If this years PC conference succeeds, who knows who we could get for next year. More developers that are PC-centric? More indies? Very exciting to think about!

Here's a look at some of the first confirmed participants, with more to be announced

More speakers incoming, it seems.

Square enix to announce that ff15 is also coming to steam?

Would that be possible Or am I talking nonsense?

A PC version being developed is far more likely than not in this market, the question I have is if they pull a MGSV and announce it before the console versions are out. If they are it'll be at Gamescom or this event.

Streaming is worthless when you can just run the software on the device itself .

You mean like this ?

Yes but released in a way that people are aware it exists, and in a way that people are aware that their x86 tablet can do this (and with proper ergonomics and button placement)
Aka brand it pc portable and make sure the controller part is up to standards.

I've never met a pc gamer who wouldn't want a handheld that plays their pc games, and never met a handheld gamer who wouldn't like the same.

Hell for me the only reason I ever gave a shit about the psp, gameboy and vita is that it was the only way to play games on the move. x86 tablets (with buttons) existing instantly makes proprietary handhelds obsolete.

Yup, agreed. Unfortunately, it's even less likely with Cherrytrail, since Windows 10 won't be available on sub 8 inch devices.
