Batman Arkham Knight free with new 970/980's

Even though I have little interest in Witcher 3 (still have the first two, barely played because the combat) and I didn't plan to get Arkham Knight until next year's likely "GOTY" edition that's still tempting and I want to hold off until proper DX12 (with HW features) GPUs come out. Still my SLI'd GTX460 is pretty long in the tooth at this point. That ~$110 off for whoever is looking for both those games right away is almost too good to pass up. Even with the issues I'm seriously considering buying a 970 now...

Nothing is clickable in the OP link for me

My computer has been down for years but this seems like a good enough deal to revive it.

Any idea when this promotion will start - I see no mention on nvidia's website, or any of the card manufacturers or retailers.

To be honest, I'm tempted to buy a 970, get the codes, and then return the 970.

I have a 980 shipping in a PC to me in a week. But it seems these are both a "buy from here and get a code" thing, not "any 980 bought in the time period gets a code."

:(

I wouldn't even want Arkham Knight for free after the terrible DLC announcement, and Witcher 3 looks even worse then Witcher 2 which was worse then Witcher 1 so that just spells trouble and disaster.

Also I'm not buying Nvidia's overpriced and mislabeled GPUs. 970 is 3.5gb+512mb of older VRAM and 980 is super overpriced, I'm saving up for i7+R9 290x masterrace.

lol at the bolded

just because they're gonna have a lot of DLC doesn't mean the base game is suddenly trash

That's a huge fucking jump in performance. From sub-ps4 to more than double PS4. Whether you need to upgrade depends on what you need to play and when. A 980 is pricey, not the best bang to buck ratio

That's quite an understatement. My old OC'd 7950 had double the AMD-FLOPS of PS4. My OC'd 970 outperforms my old card in games by quite a bit, and 980 outperforms my current card.

Waiting to get a 970 continues to pay off. Now I just have to figure out if I want to keep my i5-2500 for now

Eh, I dont concern myself with how the cow becomes a steak, just as long as it arrives on my table.
That's a poor attitude. Tends to result in large amounts of crime when lots of people have it.

(The reason those sites are cheap is because there's stolen and scammed keys sprinkled in with the legit ones)

Bought my 970 last week. Might try emailing newegg soon as they advertise the deal to see if its possible.

If they say no, I've got it pre-ordered on Nuveem, if they say yes awesome I can hook my buddy up with the free copy.

Didn't know that. I guess I won't be using them anymore.

Not really - they are awesome about refunding buyers, at least in my experience.

Not for digital code auctions that they don't technically support.

You can easily get burned. Buyer takes your money, doesn't respond. You try to use buyer protection, and they tell you third-party digital content auctions that aren't classified ads are not covered.

Unless you're buying from a mega seller like Buy, Newegg, or Best Buy, you're at risk. I used it for years with a perfect history until I got scammed on both sides, and ebay/PP didn't give a crap. My rule of thumb is unless it's a huge retailer, don't use ebay/PP unless you're ok losing the item or cost.

Even if you buy one today or bought one a week ago, if this deal starts later this week or next week and you bought a 970 or 980 from Amazon or NewEgg you'll probably be able to get them to send you the code for Arkham City. I've been reading people have been able to get The Witcher 3 even though they bought their video card months beforehand. I doubt retailers care that much since the promotion isn't coming out of their bottom line.
