Batman Arkham Shadow on Quest 3 is the best batman game ever made!

Sadly this will remain a Meta Standalone exclusive, on the basis of it being a first party game.
I know, hence me wishing.

Holup. Put some respect on Kevin Conroy's name.

I ain't even played this VR game but before I do, real batman fans know Kevin Conroy is Batman. Let's get that right.

Now that said, I think Arkham games are a million times better than these Spider-Man games, so you(to me) are also saying that (checks notes) "batman-arkham-shadow-on-quest-3-is-the-best-batman-game-ever-made" is the best game ever made and not Arkham Asylum, Arkham Knight, or Arkham City.

The VR aspect makes it better than those arkham games. I loved Arkham Asylum but this VR game feels so much more fun.

I put fun above all else so I guess it depends on your criteria.

I can’t get Batman to run on Meta 3. It came with the headset. It just stays on the three dots. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled and it just shows the logo now. It takes forever. I haven’t gotten to play it a single time. I looked online and other people had the same issue.
Odd because I have no issues. Maybe factory reset your quest? I know that is a pain in the ass to set back up but sounds like you have some kind of bug or software issue causing problems.

I'm sure it does. Thanks for responding directly to me.

For it to compete with Asylum games, imho, it would need to hold up in pancake mode.

Is the game fun because VR is fun and nobody used it right until this game, or is the game fun even without VR?

It is comparing Apples to oranges. You cannot cherry pick a major aspect of the game and then dismiss it.

For example: Arkham Asylum if it was just ported to VR it would be terrible because it would have to be built from the ground up. Taking The VR aspect away from Arkham Shadow does not make it the same experience. I do not know if it would be a game just ported onto a flat screen but what I can tell you that the VR experience here is fun as fuck.

Also there are many other high quality VR games like Resident 4, Asgards Wrath 1 & 2, Half life Alyx, The Walking dead saints and sinners and many more examples of large scale games done in VR. Neither of those would be the same without the VR aspect.

Huge fan of Arkham trilogy, really need to play this to see the hype.

Does Meta store ever does sale? I was waiting on Black Friday but got nothing.
Yes they do. Every week or so they have a select number of games on sale. Just add it to your wish list. and wait for the price drop. This is a new game with tons of hype so I do not expect the price to drop anytime soon.

I have wireless vr and it immediately becomes apparent that you need a room the size of a hangar to enjoy it.
That is false.

I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment that is pretty cluttered.

I bought myself a round rubber VR mat that is probably 3 feet in diameter and then set my boundry as stationary. I can tell when I walk off the mat and even exercise games like Les Milles body workout, beat saber, audio trip, synth riders all play great. You just got to be smart and find a spot for yourself.

Played it from start to finish. Team Beef does excellent ports. Played Jedi Outcast and Academy completely without a PC or wires.
I loved doom 3 on meta 2.

But it made me weep for the potential of really being in that universe until I took more than 3 steps forward and realised I couldn’t keep adjusting and adjusting and adjusting to fit the game rooms over and over into my living room’s walking space.

I just use thumbstick controls and it feels natural to me. The HMD and being wireless is enough to sell me on it.

VR gaming is light-years better than regular gaming. Too bad the hardware is ass lol can't wait till we figure out contacts or glasses with high end specs

Can it be played without gaming PC streaming to the Quest? No? So don’t use this game as an argument.

It can be played from a $200 handheld (Steam Deck) so I guess it's fair game I think. Certainly the Deck 2 will be able to run quite a bit of PC VR (like hundreds of titles).

Either way, this is like asking if GT7 or RE4 or RE8 can be played on a PSVR2 without a PS5 isn't it? Seems like buying the headset and having the ability to play the game is enough to me.

Since when is buying a platform for a single game such a foreign concept? A lot of consoles are sold on the merits of a single game for people. Why did some people buy an N64 at launch? Super Mario 64. Why did I get a PS1? Final Fantasy 7. More games come later. Takes one to get you into it.

Well some of us bought the N64 for FF7.

I’m totally just curious what people find tiny for a condo/apartment: how many square feet?

My keratoconus has become advanced and I doubt that I'll ever be able to play a VR game. It irks me that I'm locked out of a major entry in a favorite franchise because of that.

I did get to experience Batman: Arkham VR way back in the day and it was very cool for the time. Really more of a tech demo, but it was immersive enough for me at the time.

I've begged for a sequel to the Arkham Origins games for over a decade. Looks like I used up a finger on the monkey's paw with that wish.

I'll follow up with that buy buying a PS1 because of Metal Gear Solid.

The Quest 3 is one of the most incredible gaming experiences I've had in my 30+ years gaming. VR truly is a centerpiece of gaming's future. I don't think we're quite there with the hardware yet, but we're getting closer and closer, and it's going to be really tough to unseat Meta from their leadership position.

The pancake lenses on the Quest 3 really are the shit. I am shocked about how clear the image is and also how much thinner the until feels on my head than the Quest 2.

The Batman game has a much slicker polish their your typical VR game. Games Like Arizona Sunshine are good but you can tell there is some Indy aspects of the game. We need to see more AAA studios enter the VR space.

I have no idea how would this game even work without VR, just based on combat alone. How would you even hit the different spots on the enemy's body with a traditional controller? Would you have to control one hand with each analog stick then push the trigger to punch? The game would probably need to pause after each punch just to give you enough time to align your punches.

Removing VR from this game would be like playing Super Mario 64 with an Atari 2600 controller and without letting you move alongside the Z-Axis.

VR killer apps are so few and far between that each requires its own headset.

EDIT: Meta platform exclusive, not just MQ3 headset exclusive as I initially thought.
Still pisses me off though, VR killer apps are rare enough already without platform exclusivity.

Holy hell, this game is amazing. Most fun I have had with a game in years! Everyone on GAF needs to play this game.

I agree, completely. It does feel like VR hardware is still 5+ years away, but it already is pretty good if done right.

Quest 4 will definitely be welcomed, especially if they can increase the FOV and refresh while making these headsets [much] lighter.

To me, batman feels alot like a top tier n64/ps1/saturn game in a way. 3d was fairly new but developers got a rush of excitement and passion using the tech back then. Thats much of the reason I think some of those games are still amazing.

Sure it'll get better but someone playing batman in 20 years for the first time will still be able to enjoy it immensely. And there's something special about breaking through these barriers that you don't get as much once the tech becomes more ordinary or standard.

It's not a gimmick or anything like that. It's just fucking good. A full fledged Arkham AAA game in VR.

Beating people up is the best part. It really does make you feel like a bad ass when you jump into a group of enemies and just piling on the combo's by swinging the correct ways, counter punching, swiping my cape, and so much much more. This is a fantastic VR battle system that keeps things fast and furious. Plus you get a workout at the same time because after beating up a group of baddies it gets the heart and blood flowing.
this sounds awful to me to be honest. There’s a reason why everyone bounced off the Wii quickly.
