Witcher 3 gameplay from YouTubers from CDPR event

So console (XOne/PS4) footage...

This. So much of this.

another picture from him. he shared only these two from console. he mentioned, that they played old PC build and every video out there is in fact an old version from GDC days. And he said that digital review PS4 version was given out by publisher for journalists like him. He also mentioned that there was no patches of console version as of yet. I guess there would be day 1 patch for some of them fixes.

Has anyone heard if the day one patch is available yet for the reviewers or are they still playing an earlier build?

Last I heard the PS4 version of the game was only being sent out to reviewers with PS4 dev kits.

I have a Dev Kit. Maybe i can pretend to be a reviewer for a bit :(

Arkham Knight is showing PS4 footage for every preview lately. Don't wanna see that rationalization.

They have something to show still? I thought they moved games content into Season Pass and to be released over next year o_O

/s

Often it's PC version that get demoed least and as close to release date as possible. Is it some weird rationalization or does it make it more okey that TW3's console footage is cutting it close to release? No. Will footage arrive and can you hold off on pre-ordering until then? Yeah.

This, so much.
I think it's pathetic that people have to wait in seeing a product that they're paying, or have paid for. Just before Launch. smh

While i'm pretty sure this won't be a Skyrim Ps3 episode, but still. I like seeing what i fucking paid for, specially since i pre-ordered the Collectors Edition.
*sigh

Wouldn't common sense dictate you don't pay before you see the product?

Well he has some point with CE pre-order. That shit got announced year ago and got sold out basically in 12 hours after announcement. Finding one now is like looking for unicorn in downtown of NYC.

Indeed, that's what i was thinking too, just buy a good wireless mouse and keyboard and you're in, i see plenty of space for a PC in that room
Personally I don't have time/ patience/ know-how to endlessly fiddle with settings/ updates/ drivers/ etc... I just like to pop my game into my PS4 and play.
I don't know if it's Microsoft deal or something else holding up console version, but it's very annoying not being able to see some video footage at this point.

I get that, it still does not invalidate my point.

It's been automated for a long time now if you don't feel like doing it yourself. Updates work the same as on a console, drivers update the same way games update.

True.
And why i've never liked pre-ordering games.
But there are some (rare) occasions, where i must. lol

Yep, I never pre order games unless there is a tech writeup/port report before it's out. I guess having to order the CE before it's sold out is just a risk you had to take.

Platform wars should be stopped before they even start, that shit will ruin this thread.

Pretty much, let's hope CDPR gave the consoles the same amount of polish the xbox version of 2 had. I'm inclined to believe they have done so and everyone on every platform will get to enjoy it.

sry double post

I guess you missed my point, most multiplats show console footage except for maybe the reveal and there is no sign of PC stuff until it releases.

I'm saying what they are doing by withholding footage is not normal. Whether this bothers you is up to the individual. As long as we see some extended footage before release I'm OK with it, but I don't think it is a good move. If it looks significantly worse I think there will be more teeth gnashing now than if it was shown a while ago.

Just play this game on a pc,the way it was meant to be played

Why arent posts like this not worthy of a ban?

Seriously some people dont play on PC and some people dont play on consoles, what the hell is wrong with you? Enjoy your supreme experience. But everyone is entitled to check the quality/performance of the product on his hardware, to decide if he will invest money on it.

still waiting for damn PS4 footage. that Russian blogger who made hour-long youtube video is playing it right now. first he told there's so little difference - one would have to look really hard to find them. and some hours later he told that there're freame rate drops during battles.

damn it just press damn ps4 magic button and everyone would be happy...

On an openworld game ?
Maybe he didn't look enough in the distance.

Considering amount of shit they are already getting for PC version graphics that got severely downgraded, tho depends who you ask about that, I doubt it would hurt them much more if console players lost their shit over console version graphics. I'm not saying PC version looks like shit or that console version will look like shit, but that I doubt they are intentionally hiding anything.

People have very high and almost unrealistic expectations from TW3, both graphically and gameplay wise. Partly fault of CDPR and partly fault of community itself.

Btw didn't someone in this thread have some source/friend who told him that PS4 footage was recorded last week, but Sony Poland wanted to do editing themselves?

PlayStation posted the teaser reel of their host playing PS4 on Facebook, but haven't posted the actual feature yet for us to see the footage from the play session

The LOD is baked into the assets (due to the middleware they are using) causing all LOD related things to be the same on all platforms (very unlike that they would produce a different set of assets for different platforms)

I think the "play on pc the way it was meant to be played" was a joke, at least I took it that way. But I understand the frustration. If I didn't have a PC powerful enough to play this maxed out I'd be in the line for the PS4 version all the way to the bank.

Honestly though, console players I don't think you have a lot to worry about, the 360 version of W2 was pretty good and you've got to accept that high end pc's will look better.

I expect the console versions to be the equivalent of using a PC with High settings right?

PS4 version will look fantastic.

As good as PC Ultra at 60fps in 4K?

Of course not.

But fantastic none the less.

Never played either of the previous games, but the fact that this open world has piqued my interest. I'm also looking to get lost in a RPG and this seems to have some incrediable attention detail seems like a winner.

How is the combat though? I do like good gameplay and it can be hard to get a decent impression from videos. I believe the combat system changed from the 1st to the 2nd game. What about the 3rd? Again, I have watched videos and its realtime fighting, but are their different settings, or can you pause the game or something? Some of it did look a bit janky?

How bad off story wise will I be if I jump straight into the 3rd as well...

I don't know if you can take those downgraded posts too seriously, I mean we don't have many before and after shots to judge by, it's just a comparison to the opening area which is kind of basic. I can't wait to take heaps of awesome screenshots from beautiful places in the game.

I'm one of those people with incredible hype and expectations for this game and I'm certain that it will meet my expectations. CDPR are still in their early "live up to expectations" days that all devs go through as they grow, they have to make it perfect in order to survive so they've put in the time and effort. Theyre a very rare and special developer IMO.

I'm not going to deny I'm a PC player and I love that cdpr are PC devs first and console devs seconds, I wish so many more devs were like that.

believe me when I say that this is going to be one of the greatest rpg's of all time. The Witcher 2 is still incredible to this day and although it's not open open world it's still kind of close and very cool.

To me, this game is the epitome of what a fantasy rpg should be and I only wish more games were like this. It's all about choice and hugely different things happening depending on the choices you make. I can't wait to play this, it's going to last me for a very long time because it's the type of thing you can play multiple times and not feel like you're repeating yourself at all.

I am more interested in how it performs. That is why I need to hear more about framerate especially under stressful moments.

I think we will be back to PS3/360 territory in regard to performance, this is no cross gen and first gen era anymore, games are more demanding, expect 30 with drops as a default for open world next gen games from now on, probably with linear and very demanding games as well.

Not sure if anyone has asked this yet. Will their be like a pre load for this on steam like the weekend before its out or anything?

If not then I might just wait till the Tuesday during the day for it rather than trying to download it at 12am.

And on what basis you can be sure they don't do tailored lod for each plateform ?

Preload will happen on all platforms and services. Specifics are yet to be announced.

They bake those values straight into assets which means that to have different values for each platform they would need do all assets 3 times. We can't know if CDPR has done that or hasn't done that, but usually devs take simplest way out. Do it once.

It's mid Tuesday in Poland. Where's the console footage?

So only 3 and ½ days to go until end of week, if we assume they want release during work days for press coverage.

I dont know, maybe you are right, but if it so, and if drops are in the range of FC3 situation, I prefer in droping the GFX quality further, from high settings as CDP says to , say, medium.

CDP has promised however that W3 runs very well on consoles and they make it sound as if it is running in pretty solid 30 fps. I can understand a few drops when stuf gets hectic, but if drops happen all the time, then I dont agree with the "high" settings decision.

Yeah. Foliage is controlled by two variables (assuming it's the same as TW2): LOD baked into assets, and an engine command for general render distance. The latter is tweakable and may vary between platforms, but unless they've tweaked each asset for each game the LOD will probably remain the same.

So in theory you might get low quality trees and such rendered further on PC maxed out, but the pop-in and LOD transitions will be the same for all.

Assuming they haven't tweaked assets individually per platform, or had tools that sped up making changes.

Knowing from start they will target different platform i would find it astonishing they don't have now tool to define specific stuff depending of the targeted platform

But there will be lod difference no matter what

I'm having doubts we'll see any console footage this week, regardless what was said. Next Tuesday, I'm gonna be playing Final Fantasy X HD Remaster on the PS4, which will keep me busy until the TW3's actual release. It's looking more and more we won't see any console footage, until after the game's release.

I'm sure its going to look good on consoles, I wouldn't be worried. Sure its not going to look like the recent PC footage, but I don't expect the differences to be huge. I do though expect people here to scrutinize every frame of the upcoming console footage and go nuts over the differences.

These are quite the conclusions you're jumping to. It's Tuesday.. They said this week. How is it looking more and more like we won't see anything until 2+ weeks from now?

This forum would be a much better place if people stopped making shit up.

It's not the looks (aka graphics) console gamers should be concerned about. It's the framerate, and pop in textures. After 3 years, those that are getting this on consoles still haven't seen anything to answer our concerns.
