PS4 reaches 2m sales in the UK

Congrats Sony on the 2 million.

And the ratio between the PS4 and Xbox One has fallen. It's not 1.5:1 anymore. At the very least it's 1.3:1

Heavy Xbone price reduction [promotional price cut that never went back up] and game bundling is to be thanked for that.

You're suggesting the xbone has been outselling the ps4 in the uk? when did this happen?

Math. How does it work? :)
Ratios can change even if PS4 is selling better.

We know the XB1 LTD in the US is ~6.84 million. And if we estimate its LTD to be ~1.5 million in the UK by the end of March, we get 8.34 million in two of its biggest territories. Slightly less than 3 million seems about right for ROTW, so that would put sold through numbers at ~11.25 million. This would be my prediction.

Seems really resonable. I truly believe that sales ratio is now 2:1 WW in PS4 favor ( 22+ mil. )

Every console gamer I know has a PS4, but I only know one person near me with an X1... Not too surprising, really!

Congrats to Sony on beating out the PS2. Get a library of exclusives as decent as the PS2 and I'll grab a new PS4.

The ratio can't decrease if the PS4 is selling better though... right?! If the gap is closing between the two surely that implies the Xbone must be selling better? I have just got back from a long drive+meeting so I'm not feeling particularly lucid right now.

Wondering about the sales of PS4's in France right now. It seems everybody that wanted one already has it.

/scratch head

Quick check on Amazon.fr

Hourly Top 100:
Ctrl-F PS4: 3 SKUs
Ctrl-F XB1: 1 SKU, well behind 2 PS4 SKUs

Month of April top 100:
Ctrl-F PS4: 4 SKUs (including the Batman pre order special ed)
Ctrl-F XB1: 1 SKU, behind all 4 PS4 skus

Conclusion: PS4 is still selling in France, even if only on Amazon

/s if not obvious

Yes, it can. The ratio will get smaller if PS4 still is outselling the XB1, but by less than it outsold it before.

Yep, this is mainly because Sony doesn't just focus on one or two territories, but rather world wide.

Sure, we don't have the exact figure but do you really believe it's anything less than 60%? That's outrageous if you ask me.

why? UK:US ratio went up a bunch from before, France/Germany:US is basically the same as before

1 million:666k=1.5
2 million:1.5 million=1.33

gap got bigger, ratio got smaller

Sorry, I don't get this post. Can you please rephrase it?

you're implying that the US:world ratio for XBO has gone up, yet the UK has increased its relative share vs the US while France/Germany are roughly the same

Oh, that's what you meant. Anyway, remember all those insane XB1 deals in last year's holiday. I reckon that increased the US:ROTW gap to something closer to 70:30 for a while. Of course I'm just speculating.

...I'm comparing end of 2013 to whatever the latest post-holiday 2014 update was, that's already there

Well, Brazil it is then lol. Too bad there are no official numbers, anyway the gray market is much bigger and there is no way to track that.
Brazil official market will be really low... most sales come from Gray Market... officially it is possible Xbone to be ahead but in the Gray Market I have my doubts because both machine costs the same.

I know at launch (November/December 2013) that at Sta. Efigência the guys selling PS4 and Xbone that I asked said to me PS4 was selling like 10:1 and they are getting sold out of PS4s too fast while Xbone have piles of consoles to sell.

Anecdotal from the biggest gray market place in São Paulo at launch months.

I'm shocked (and at the same time, not shocked) at just how aggressive Spencer has been with the prices.

Not that they can afford to fall further behind, but a $350 CAD Xbone + MCC + BF:Hardline is pretty bonkers compared to PS4 at $450 + The Last of Us.

All these deals are retailers doing it, not MS.

Welcome, hookers and blow to be served at tea time.

Huh? How did you come to that conclusion?

yeah, it probably won't sell a single unit more. Maybe some replacements for broken ps4s

PS4 not selling anymore in France confirmed.
Pack it up Sony.

How do people come up with this stuff?

Appreciate the smartass replies but I'm currently in charge of promoting them in a famous supermarket chain and we had the amazing sales of 0 over the last weekend.
I don't doubt people still buy them online but you were in my shoes you would be less laughing seeing the fucking stock of PS4's and Vitas unsold, despite the current promo.

Maybe it says more about your marketing and promotional skills rather than then product then?

Or maybe like I said people that wanted one where I am got one and people don't want to fork over +400€ for a console just before the summer?

Poor wording on my part. What I meant was I'm wondering how well they sell in french stores considering the poor sales in my shop. Better?

I wouldn't be surprised if what you're saying isn't far from the truth.

PS4 is in need of a price-cut; they've been adamant on that launch price.

Perhaps Sony is just waiting for better timing in announcing a price-cut, in hopes of bolstering sales momentum.

Just before the holiday season is probably when that announcement will happen.

Yup, everyone who wanted one got one. Jesus fuck...

It was poor wording form my part, clearly I'm talking about my own experience.

This is the PS4 pack we have to push and there's basically no box showing it's available in store. It's priced at 449€ and if you have the shop's store you get 20€ credited back on your account.
The PS4 is on demo but it's not even connected to internet and so got just old demos of NHL15, FIFA15, Trials Fusion, FEZ, Thief.

Store is huge, it's a hypermarket and most people coming in are here to do grocery shopping so it's not like a person's going to drop 500€ on a whim, no matter how kids want one bad. Funny thing is I still saw people buying PSP's.

Oh the PS4 sell well enough, just go to the St Lazare's FNAC any day of the week and you will most likely see someone buying one.

There has certainly been a bit of a turn around in the UK since 360/PS3. Everyone I know who has a current gen console went PS4, a fair few of them were switchers to PlayStation. I only know 4 people with an Xbox One. Two of them have both systems, one has a partner at Microsoft and another bought one cause his brother was getting one (who then changed his mind and got a PS4 ouch!).

The reality though, is that they're probably pretty close over here. Xbox One is advertised during big shows like Game of Thrones so MS aren't sitting about. They were even advertising Halo 5 the other day.

Which is?

I'm in a Carrefour in 77, it's countryside out here.

Yea, that seems like a terrible combination for selling consoles: country side + located in a hypermarket + high price.

You're spot on in assuming no parent will drop that much cash on a whim given the location and price of current gen console(s).

The PSP still selling is pretty amusing though lol

Sure, try selling products to people that think 90euros is too much for a console.

Oh good luck selling that.

Honestly it's not about the games. People are just damn cheap (that frequent the store) and the timing just isn't right but that's my opinion. I'm sure the situation is much better in Micromania (the equivalent of Gamestop).

Thing is I got word that it was like that in all the supermarkets with this promotion. Sales being bad last weekend, a new promo came in, now it's the PS4/PS TV or PS4/The Order + a Dualshock 4 for 399€.
