Its not really damage or moisture trapped underneath. Its just what happens when the plexi comes in contact with the very glossy artwork underneath. If you lift the plexi off, everything looks great. I was planning on changing artwork pretty often anyway so I'm sure I can find something that works.

Got my VLX today and installed the Seimitsu and gamerfingers on it. This is the first time I ever done any mod, and those gamerfingers were a huge pain to install...seriously I had to use a knives to thin out some areas and still had to push hard to get them snap in..shit's ridiculous...I don't want to think of having to take them out in the future.

On the other hand, the Seimitsu I can do so much better with Hadoken and uppercut than the Sanwa on the TE2 (I haven't played these games for a long time). I think I am liking it.

The VLX got 2 minor dents on the front but it is really not all that noticeable that I don't really care. Seems to be a very high quality stick (as it should be). I just hope, the gamerfinger stays there forever...

So, This is moisture getting underneath the plexi, it happened with a set of shipments recently, but nobody's been talking about it. You can take off the plexi and fix it no problem. The bezel thing I've never heard people talk about.

Mine's been super quality and the PCBs in them aren't shit, but the art is wrecked. I personally don't give a fuck since I'll throw a waifu on it at some point, but be warned the most recent shipments have had QA problems with the art and plexi.

Yeah. That's kinda what I thought it was also. Did the SF sticks have the same problem or did they use non glossy art work?

Speaking of artwork, is there a template to use to make stuff or is there artwork that can be purchased?

So you're saying it is from moisture? Is it just with recent ones? The only place I've found one for sale is off of amazon.com but it doesn't ship until the end of May.

What's PCB? And I guess my swapping art question above would be something you might be able to answer also. ;)

Yeah, both have the problem. I have a USF4 and an Xrd TE2 and got the splotches on both. Swapped the art in the USF4 TE and they're not there. Problem I have with the TE2 is swapping buttons. I put the little ring thing on the new buttons I put in, but they still don't fit perfectly and the plexi comes up. I'm constantly having to push the plexi down.

I even tried swapping buttons, one at a time, in my TE2, and even though they're the exact same buttons, I can't get it to fit as well as the ones that come with the TE2. It's super frustrating.

Taking of the plexi and removing any moisure between the plexi and art does help a bit but not much. I've cleaned as much as I can and still have the problem. I've seen this issue come up on pretty much all versions of the TE2 so far.

Yeah, I tried throwing some regular paper underneath the plexi just to test and the spots didn't show up so swapping the art for different print material helps a lot. My buttons are fairly secure using the clear rings but the plexi still shifts around a lot no matter what I try. I guess I'll try the plexi from Art's since the buttons install on top of the plexi and hold it down.

I don't have this issue on the plexi that's from my Killer Instinct TE2. I definitely have it on the Xrd plexi.

I don't know why they switched plexis because the older version is far superior. It doesn't shift and move around either but the new one does which is the more annoying problem because it actually starts affecting gameplay.
 
for all you VLX owners, how does the assign function work on the stick? the instructions are very vague.
 
I brought a TE2 back from Japan last Fall, before the US shipments started, and I had the rainbow issues. Attempts to clear it out didn't really fix it long-term, so I replaced the plexi with one from Tek-Innovations and I've been way happier with it in general. Looks better AND it feels way firmer.

They're actually plastic.

The wooden top-plate is an adhesive wooden strip which I got from an art shop. It's about 1mm thick and has a peel-off paper covering on the back. It's very easy to stick onto the metal plate and then cut around it with a scalpel.

I have the same rainbow issues and have ordered that as well. Not just for aesthetics, I also don't like the feel of the current top panel. The one from Tek Innovations should be just like the one I ordered years ago.

I'm also having some trouble with VLX. The Hori parts are a little different and it's messing with my execution. I don't think they're all that bad though so I'm going to spend at least one more weekend trying to get use to it. If that doesn't work out then I'll just order some Sanwa parts.
 
I have rainbowing and the other typical problems on my P4A TE2 also. Madcatz needs to either use a simpler design less prone to issues or step up quality control quite a bit.

Wow. Ok. I figured it wouldn't be permitted. So essentially I could make an MKX collage from various images and be good to go?
 
Hmm, I'm thinking about getting a custom converter made, I've given my buddy a shout back home about it since I would ask him to help me have it built.

Basically using the FGW and PS360+ pcbs to create a Saturn to everything converter.

Why? Because I own a HSS-0130 and I don't really want to gut the beauty, well modifications would still need to be done in general to dump the crappy Sega buttons but that's another story.

Also the converter would allow me to use Saturn pads.

I already have the Saturn stuff, but I figure for all the parts needed (FGW x2, Saturn extension cords, PS360+ x2, project box enclosure), it would be about $200 including shipping all that stuff as a terrible rough estimate. LOL

Although I don't know if having one project box to serve two controllers would be too much tho. It's all my old craziness returning. It doesn't really apply right now since my stuff is on the other side of the pacific, and I live in the land of arcades currently.

I've never made anything for an arcade stick before and i'm just not sure how this will work.
One thing i'm sure about though, is that i need to clean it up some more.

Also, tell me if the circles between the blue bars are any good or not 'cause i can't seem to decide if i want them.

After a little more use of the Hayabusa I think its pretty alright but it does feel a little "loose" has anyone switched out theirs or are you guys getting used to/like it? Was looking at getting a spring but if it came down to that I'd rather leave it as is and just swap it with something else if I needed to. I haven't had any issues with inputs so maybe I'm just being anal.

I have the original Hayabusa in my Femme Fatale TE as I used to own a Fighting Edge. I have tried the new Hayabusa and felt that the original one has a better feel to it. It's ultimately up to preference but that is my two cents.

I've got two fighting edges, bought 4 or 5 of them individually to put in other sticks, and the new VLX. They all felt similar to me, and were all far too loose.

It's by far my favorite stick with a tighter spring, but stock feels too loose.

I had my Ky art reprinted by Tek-Innovations when I ordered a plexi panel, so I don't think you'll have a problem.

Are you planning to use just the right six buttons? I think it'd look pretty weird having one button on top of the yellow marks. How well the blue circles work will depend on the color of the screws holding the panel down. I dunno how well that kind of "accent" will work on the stock easily-rusting ones.

I don't like the feel of it, too loose and on top of that, makes a really loud sound when the stick hits the gate, can't stand it. Switched out with my stock te1 sanwa and felt a world of difference. Also swapped out some buttons and I will opt on taking out the kuros,
 
I must be missing something, I plugged the VLX PS4 stick into my PS3, MVC3 works no problem. When I try the PS4, the stick does not work with Injustice.

But you were right... when I got my TE2 it had the same rainbow effect. So I just took off the plexi, wiped it with my shirt, blew on the art, waited a minute, then put it back on. The rainbow effect was completely gone. If that doesn't work for you guys, then I dunno why it's still there.

I agree. That yellow logo just doesn't look good around the buttons so i put it in the corner hoping to get a simplified look, of course i might could put it over the bottom middle screw instead since i'm getting rid of the center screws.
As for the blue circles, i just got rid of them since they looked strange to me. It Looks good to me right now but i feel something is missing.

I'll try again, I was messing with the assign button so I might of messed it up. The instruction manual is a joke lol. Didn't know how to open it for 30 minutes until I found the thumb screws. I was looking for a button. The playstation button works but stick directions and buttons currently do nothing.

However it's a super nice stick. It's like a cinder block. Not portable. But nice. Minor dimples here, foam is ok, with edges not quite as flush as I expected for the money, but there is no way it's not the best stick on the market. It's $100 more engineering than the next stick down. She is a brick house... I can't see buying the carry bag, it's too big to carry around like that unless you are moving or spending a night at a friends house. I like the shiny silver accents.

Not sure if I'll open the second one. I currently have no one to play with.

Still gotta say that I like the look of the Kai more and would have picked one up except Hori USA doesn't like Canada or something. Still, this thing looks pretty. Time to learn stick though, I've lived my life as a pad guy and need to jump into this world.
 
I got my PS4 TE2 in today and I love how easy it is to open up, you can store buttons and the cord, etc... it's pretty sweet. But it looks like mine has some moisture trapped under the plexi, it makes that wet rainbow effect under certain lighting. I snapped a pic of it here.

Just wanted to put this out there. Does anyone else have this? Im gonna try to open the plexi in a bit and hopefully I can just wipe it down.
 
I wonder how much of those plexi/art issues with the TE2's is because of the shipping delays in the states ? Like I mentioned above, you leave crates of goods in a humid seacan sitting on the ocean for twice as long as was probably banked on and I can't see an entire shipment surviving unscathed.

So is it simply the port delay leading to this issue or is there actually a problem with how the plexiglass is placed on the TE2 ?

I haven't noticed that problem with my Killer Instinct stick but I've heard those were built a bit differently from later versions.
