The Witcher 3 PS4 gameplay

Is this the ps4 version? The splash effects look pretty decent here.

Guys i have 4 titan X's in SLI, 32GB HBM2 RAM and an i7

Am i even meeting minimum requirements for Black Ops 3? I'll get the PS4 version otherwise

/s

Seriously though, you'd think people would know a bit about their own set ups in regards to research. Putting money in something like this should require a bit a research on what your getting don't you think?

Gtx 750 ti will one day fall short of VRAM, and I suspect that will start to happen with games that are exclusives to this gen. PS4 at least is a "safe bet"

If he grabs the PC version he can then run it on even better hardware in teh future if he wants to upgrade.

Obviously we will know better closer to release, but this gen has proven so far that a 75oTi is A-OK for matching the PS4 in basically every release (and scales with overclocking to be even higher of course).
Alright, I was hoping someone with more knowledge on this would answer aswell!

I was actually confused why he couldn't even meet the minimum requirements eventhough a couple of his components were surpassing the PS4 and it was said that the PS4 would run around "high" Settings.

So I'll just assume, that minimum requirements are just there to play it safe.

Thanks for your impressions.

The witcher 2 sometimes didn't run that well, depending on settings and area, which is why I am apprehensive regarding the sequel...

On the other hand I am contemplating buying the PS 4 version (as it seems to look really nice on the console!) and to then later buy Witcher 3 on the PC during a mega-sale, once I have acquired a new rig.

Only thing reason I am still hesistating is my fear that I will miss mods in the console version (really liked the reduce-all-inventory-weight-to-0-mod for instance).

It is obviously up to you and the decision should probably be made just before release to see how it scales. But I think it is reasonable to say the PC version isn't too demanding if consoles can run it at 30fps.

The problem I think is minimum spec is GTX660, which is above 750Ti.

Why do we need a bar for horse stamina again? the ui is so cluttered and ugly.

Yeah, why not just have the horse get winded and have him slow down on his own? Why do I need a bar to tell me, just have the horse tell me. Isn't this how Red Dead did it?

The minimum spec should be taken with a massive grain of salt. Like every other minimum spec.

A deduction based upon the large sample of games already out there (and their often crazy recommended and min specs) points to a 750Ti running it fine.

Geforce GPU analyzer place a GTX 960 playing the game at High (and Geforce Experience targets 45 FPS). It is easy to deduce that the 750Ti will be just fine.

Because you can customize the UI elements.

It also adds to the immersion. If you have a bar telling you that your horses stamina is getting low you'll just let it recharge a little and use it up again, but if the horse suddenly "out of nowhere" starts to slow down you might think: "Oh, right! Maybe I shouldn't push that little fella too hard."

Telling people they can shut things off doesn't justify spending money to design an ugly default information overload. There are more sophisticated ways for the player to understand what is happening without hurting the game's visual presentation and the player's experience. Tons of games demonstrate it and are better if anything for showing intelligent restraint in their UI/HUD. It's ugly and intrusive and unjustified in the first place.

Yep, the HUD is the worst in this game of what we have seen. Even if you can shut off elements, it's still looks ugly.

Bloodborne has the best HUD.

I still don't think that's a good enough reason for the base design to be so ugly.

More options is always good.

Also, we don't know whether or not the horse does show signs of being tired. Correct?

Perhaps this is more baseless speculation, something which TW3 attracts in droves.

I'm probably going to get it on PS4 but would like to know if my laptop can run it.

Intel Core i7 4710MQ 2.5ghz (3.5ghz turbo boost)

8gb ram

Nvidia Geforce 860m 4gb vram

I looked around and a lot places seem to show that my laptop fails to meet minimum spec. Would it still look similar to the PS4 version or am I just better of getting it on the PS4.

The 860m is basically the equivalent of a 750Ti. Your laptop, for all purposes (especially with 4GB of VRAM), should run the game equivalent to or better than the PS4 version. But then again, why not wait till before release till we know more?

More options is NOT always good. Not always good for design, presentation, or customer. There's a lot to learn from how many design awards Apple wins (and how much their sales grow). The customer does not always know best for the art, exposition, and presentation. But w3 HUD proves that devs don't always know either.

It doesn't matter if it shows reaction to stamina depletion (but it probably does, as the meter has to be counting down to something besides instadeath). The point is that horse stamina has been handled less intrusively before in other games, as have most elements of the W3 HUD. More options isn't good if they are like hitting you with a frying pan during a Mozart performance.

Interesting. Thanks.

I'm leaning towards playing on my lappy then.. Hooking it up to my TV should be easy eenough.
I have hooked up my PC to my TV as well, but mostly play on my PS4 (and my PC is more powerful, i5 4670k, GTX760).

The reason for that is, that the UI of many PC games is not optimized for playing it on a TV. My setup is a 55" TV and I sit 3-4m away from it. No comfy couch playing with quite a few titles because of unreadable text, so I tend to play it on a platform where it´s optimized for TV and a bigger viewing distance.

Like I said, you are using a lot of conjecture in assuming how TW3 represents gameplay through visual cues.

Complaining about it before it releases and before we concretely know what is and what is not shown in-game vs. on a meta-level (the UI) just isn't that productive. We need to know more before we can complain.

I can agree that it is probably unnecessary froma grande-design perspective. But games this large, and especially those with console multiplatform releases, rarely target a minimalistic UI. They assume through QA that everyone is a big man-woman-baby and is as dumb as a rock.

Do we know if there will be Polish dubs in all versions ? Though i'm french, i've always played The Witcher games with them. It adds atmosphere :D

Maybe through testing they recieved feedback from players that a stamina bar was needed or preferred. I'm sure they thought out the design and did what was right going by player feedback.

This is only true for PC exclusive games. I don't know of any multi-platform game where the UI is ONLY tailored for monitors.... In fact the opposite is usually true. Where the UI is this garish, gigantic thing, meant for people to see 10 feet away.

Luckily, more and mroe games now a days allow you to scale the UI in order to both accommodate the closer to the screen experience of PC and high resolution displays on PC (1140p, 4K, etc). You can use that same ability to scale to displays that you are going to be standing far away from.

Ok, you win, that impresses me! That is a lot more atmospheric and has that look I was worried I might not see in Witcher 3.

Gotta be honest.... I don't think the game will look like those screenshots anymore. They were taking during the "sharpening filter" phase, which also had a much more desaturated and atmospheric look.
