Actually, those DLC costunes just ended any chance of Splatoon making it in as playable in Smash 4 or Smash 5. Just like Protoman, Monkey, and Vampire Pirate

I had to step away for a couple minutes so I missed this detail. Did it definitely confirm a party system for public matchmaking? It wasn't just for private matches?

If that's the case I'll partially retract my initial reaction to having no party system. Better late than never is right, but still annoying it's not there from the start.

this is for sure, just like Mewtwo, you get a code to have it first than anyone else, and then it gets uploaded to eshop so everyone can buy it
