The Witcher 3 Leaked

It is one of his generals, yeah.

What are you talking about? The first pc copies come with missing exe so they wouldn't be able to share it with others and then why would there be more spoilers? Console people can't talk?Stream?

Then how are people supposed to play the game?
And well, the pc version could be pirated,so the leaked pc copies would get a much larger distribution than the console versions.

Retail PC copies are basically being distributed similar to how digital preloads work. All (or most) of the game is installed before launch, but not in a state that it can be run. Once the official release time arrives, the unlock executable is distributed that allows the game to be run.

It won't be pirated before release. Console versions are out cause some stores didn't respect the release date so essentially all spoilers that will come will be from there.

I don't understand what you're trying to do here. The console version of the game broke the street date, and somehow PC piracy has something to do with it.

Apparently some if not all retailers are allegedly getting special codes that they can use to activate single PC copy for demo purposes, any bets how long before some shady employee leaks PC version?

Is it me or does the combat look very weak? Maybe I've been spoiled by Bloodborne, but the weapon sounds and the hits just look very weak and floaty.

Maybe it's different when you actually have hte controller in your hand, but from the leaks it looks rather underwhelming and bit clunky/repetitive.

Someone please alleiviate my concerns :(

Yeah, sadly the combat has never been the best part about Witcher games for me.
It's not awful but nothing great either. I hope this time it's at least better than W2.

It will definitely not be bloodborne but then again, nothing is on that level except the souls games imo. The combat in Witcher 2 was enjoyable enough and I expect it to be better here.

What, really? I am all digitial now, but wow. That is totally a CD Projekt move.

There is no other way to prevent pre release piracy, it's only for the first print.

It's even worse really that it's only for the first print, that way it feels like you're being punished for buying earlier...

Will it be easy to tell print runs apart?

Wait, PC version requires a online activation?

Sorta goes against CD Projekt's DRM free policy...

If they didn't then instead of a few PS4/Xbox copies getting out they'd have to deal with the game being on every torrent site and freely available to thousands, if not millions, of pirates a week before of launch.

It's only a week, and I can't imagine it making a huge difference to piracy numbers than if it leaks next week instead, by having a online activation, that game is now DRM Protected for the lifespan of the media, Either way, I guess i'll just wait a year or so for either a digital sale, or to wait for all these "first print" copies to be completely gone.

I mean does it bother you that you have to dl a 5-20mb exe for a game? If it does, well wait for the second print. I get the no drm policy they have and that this might bother you but it's kinda necessary.

Having your game leak and be up for piracy BEFORE it's even out is kind of a big deal. From spoilers to just bad publicity.

Yeah I think its the best possible action under the circumstances. All it would take is 1 dick to get their hands on it early and suddenly hundreds of torrent sites across the world start seeding it out.

Going forward to All physical owners of the 1st print run will have it digitally as well on GOG so they wont have to deal with that small patch issue after the first time. Small price to pay for having no obtrusive DRM that can actually harm systems.

As far as action rpgs go, I'd say Dragon's Dogma is still the best in combat.

I imagine CDPR has metrics and market research from people who know far more on those effects than either of us. I certainly have no idea and I'm guessing you don't either. And the game is not DRM protected for its "lifespan". You download the little file and then you are free to share or install it on as many PCs a you wish. You also get a DRM free digital backup from GOG that affords the same freedoms. As for what you will do.. ::shrug:: that's your prerogative.

Eh, it's more the fact you can't guarantee those servers will always be up (which I doubt they will be, in 10/20 years time), and also can't guarantee how my internet connection will be (or if I'll have one at all), I just hope it's easy enough to tell the online activation copies from the 100% offline copies.

Its not a "phone home" style activation. Its a little file that you can back up and share just as you would any other file. You don't have to download it onto your PC, you can do it at a friends house or a library if you need to.

As erwasd said, you can backup the file yourself wherever.

You also get DRM-free GOG copy which you can download and store wherever.

CDP does everything right and people still shit on them.

Man I'm never lucky enough to come across these stores that break Street date

Then again that's what happens with the fall of mom and pop shops I guess
Sucks. Haha. I use to get most games early whenever the store I use to go to received them. All those stores closed though and only gamestops and old school game stores exist where I'm at now.

As far as action rpgs go, I'd say Dragon's Dogma is still the best in combat.

I can agree with this and it was not my favorite. It was weak in many ways I like RPGs but the combat was fun enough I still enjoyed the game a lot (I'm not big on RPGs that are pretty combat only focused normally).

How is this bad? It stops piracy, and is only for the very first print of discs. I see no downside to this.

I can't believe people would complain about the activation patch. It prevents piracy and future copies won't require it. It shouldn't be compared to DRMs out there.

What can I do while waiting for Witcher 3?

I can't think of any game that has the same feel as the Witcher series, and I can't get back into the old Witchers because I played them too much already.

Well for me I'm finally getting around to playing Fallout 2 (which I absolutely adore, my favorite fallout behind New Vegas so far).

I know, not really the same feel as Witcher, but it does have the good writing and choices you have to wonder which is the best. And sure, the combat is turn based but still fun (and damned hard, I suck at this game, heh!).

Problem is I probably won't finish before Witcher comes out (Which means I won't finish it or I'll have to go replay it in the future if I want to finish it).

Not enough ploughing

Not enough ploughing

What? So far I've "ploughed" several people ... and you get plenty of opportunities to (almost every town). Hell, I got a shotgun wedding in the game due to that (and then my hubbie died <- playing a straight female). Hell, I got a shotgun wedding to the daughter first because I was just trying to be nice and talk with her and apparently that was enough to get my bones jumped... (and after the shock and laughter I went back to a previous save).

If that is really what you judge a game on...

Hell, I even found a plough for a character so there's even ploughing in every sense of the word ;).
