The Witcher 3 - Official Xbox One gameplay

They're taking the Advanced Warfare, idTech approach?

The chance of native 1080p certainly sounds better than 900p. I think more games, even native 1080p PS4 games, should be open to that for the purpose of maintaining the frame-rate.

I think every game should offer a "framerate maintain option" which turns off IQ enhancing settings dynamically to maintain framerate. Even PC games.

Would be a cool option to for certain genres.

Omg that tiny UI. I love it, it's minimalistic, but damn.

Also, dynamic resolution is better than a constant 900p, I suppose. Worked well for Wolfenstein, right?

Yeah it was even on the PS4 version, seems like really cool tech to have a consistent framerate.

OK, so it's not "1080PR" (that was the term used to describe something like 1280x1080 with horizontal interpolation but still a vertical resolution of 1080, correct me if I'm wrong).

Yeah I would assume the engine is scaling from 900p to the full 1080p, but we'll need an analysis from DF or others to know for sure.

Im really debating getting this on x1.

I have a 770 on pc which will run it fine, but im looking at the 970 on sale for 314 including witcher 3 and batman and wondering real hard.

Anyone with a little more knowledge than me, what kind of gains am i looking at going from 770 to 970?

Quite a bit. With either of those cards you're better off getting it on PC than on console.

Why do people keep comparing it to the Arkham combat? Witcher combat relies on movement, evasion and strategy while Arkham combat relies on stringing combo's together.

At least it's not Witcher 1 combat, but yeah the combat is why I am waiting on reviews (which luckily come out tomorrow).

yeah, was never a huge fan of the UI...hopefully you can turn off most of it (weather widget, control prompts, and mini-map)

Nice job, troll. Considering your avatar, I'm shocked you'd say that. From what I've seen, bloodbornes combat isn't all that great either.

I agree with him. The combat doesn't look good at all. Bloodbornes combat is pretty Damn incredible but that's nothing to do with this thread.

The PS4 did use it for Wolfenstein. The most it dropped to was about 1080*1700 where as the XB1 version dropped to 1080*1000 in heavy sequences.
This lead to the game having a rock solid 60fps. I hope Fallout uses this tech.

It looks a little bit better than god-awful, don't you think?

It looks like a midpoint between the Arkham games and Witcher 2 (which was just the worst).

After quitting both Witcher 1 and 2 because of their horrible combat, I have no faith in CDPR.

@witchergame

'This is upscaled in-game automatically. It ranges from 900p to 1080p where available. Hence "dynamic".'

what does this even mean ? The game looks sometimes better, sometimes worse ?

It means it will be native 1080p where and when the console can handle it, and it will scale back to 900p when it can't anymore. On paper at least, when things get complicated to render, instead of losing frames, you'll get a lower resolution, upscaled to 1080, and keep a constant framerate.

Doesn't look as bad as I thought it'd be, thanks for CDP for actually showing footage from all the versions.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I wanted to see all the footage from each version to decide platform. I may just get this on XBO and let my brother borrow my PS4 a little longer to continue playing MLB. I'm sure the PS4 version is slightly better, but it doesn't seem to be that big of a deal.

My only other third party experiences are the latest COD and Inquisition, both still looked stunning / solid on XBO. Saves me having to swap my consoles out a little while longer.

In the game's that I've played that have featured dynamic resolution scaling, I actually like it.

I'd rather have variable resolution and a locked frame rate, then locked resolution and variable frame rate (as most games seem to have).

I'm not quite understanding why they would announce that the "upscales" dynamically between 900p and 1080p. So it is never native? If the game never runs native 1080p why not just upscale everything to 1080? How do you even "upscale" dynamically???!!!

Seems like you're the only real troll here. The combat in the Witcher games were never it's best feature.

Combat looks fun to me, but I never really complained about TW2's combat, either. It wasn't top of its class but it wasn't the dogshit that some people act like it was. It's not The Elder Scrolls.

Quite frankly, I wish all games used this. Pick a framerate to lock in and go from there.

Oh dear, just as feared the combat looks as dull as in Witcher 2.

Oh well, at least The Witcher got other qualities.

I can see how the combat could look great, but the players in the streams and recent videos have been really bad at it. I'll try to master it as fast as I can so that I enjoy it through the rest of the game.

You could say that about most Euro-RPGs...
Good graphics and gameplay, terrible interface.
Can you really say that in a world where Skyrim exists?
That vanilla menu is absolutely horrible in terms of usability. Or are you talking about how "nice" it looks? Because that's so secondary to actual functionality.

Because Dynamic Scaling between 900P and 1080P is better than being locked at 900P.

Its talking about the rendering resolution.

The system decides what resolution to render for the next frame based on how long it took to render the current frame.

It's footage of a big game on Xbox. Of course there are trolls.
Except that the "trolls" he's talking about aren't saying anything Xbox related. He got called a troll a few posts back because he said the combat looked awful, now that there are people agreeing with him he's saying the thread is full of trolls. So yeah... But hey if you think it's because it's the Xbox version of a big game then ao be it =p
